Will begin calling dealers in those cities Monday. Hoping to find a 2008 TL with or without Navi. Anybody seen any? Best deals?
  • crispybearcrispybear Member Posts: 3
I agree. I'm not sure how accurate this price is. After searching Southern California extensively, the lowest I can get was $29,600 for a white 2008 TL w/NAV.

Another problem is that there is just no inventory left. About half the dealers I contacted had no 2008's left.
  • yehyemyesyehyemyes Member Posts: 36
that's a good price for a NAV model. Anyone have any idea about TL leftovers and price in PA, NJ, DC area.

    Acura Holdback: 3%
Acura Marketing Incentive: $1000 (for tech).

So on my tech car, the dealer will get $2200 from Acura for making a sale. So if they sell their car for $1000 under invoice, they still make the 3%. If they do this and MOVE their cars once a month...they are getting a 42% annual yield on the sale of cars at $1000 under invoice. This is a captalist market. If the supply from Acura and its competitors vs demand of consumers has driven prices to that level...fine. If you walked into a car dealer during the boom cycle and asked them to knock $2000 (difference between what different dealers are offering me as their "bottom line" price on the car) off of the price compared to what the next buyer in line has to offer...they would laugh you out of the dealership.

The dealer that wants $1000 over invoice compared to the dealer that wants $1000 under invoice....one has cars stocked up on the lot like crazy...the other is moving them as they come. The high priced dealer also has the lower customer service ratings....crazy! So guess where customers (me) would go for service... (which generates additional revenue for them).

Guess which dealer I think stands a better chance of being in business? The dealer that has the cars sitting on the floor is paying for real estate, financing their inventory ($150-$300/car/month) because they are not selling for the market price.

Again if interested in 2008 most likely only going to find loaners now that will be certified with mileage something below 10K. Price should be $5.5K or so under invoice. If interested in new 2009, Jason at Elite Acura in S Jersey is a good sales guy and should be able to put you in a car at $1k under invoice.
  • yehyemyesyehyemyes Member Posts: 36
skgolfer, pls tell me where you can find a TL below 5.5k below invoice on a 08 TL(loaner) in NJ and PA area. I am not able to find one in that price. Any lead would be appreciated. Thanks.

Found a 2008 TL for $29000 plus title and tax. Dealer doesn't seem willing to negotiate much. This is the basic model no navi. any thoughts?
  • ralphwiggum1ralphwiggum1 Member Posts: 31
he's crazy, but you're even crazier if you buy it.
  • AcuratexanAcuratexan Member Posts: 16
I am researching prices on the TL. Reason why I don't intend to pay that amount.
  • yehyemyesyehyemyes Member Posts: 36
Because most of them are paying around $27000-27800 for a Base 08 TL.
  • denebjdenebj Member Posts: 16
Damn, I get a quote on a TL 2008 with Nav ... the price was $31560 + TTL (the guy said : "That uses all the factory money and discount from us") .... what kind of price is that !!! I mean it is invoice + $1500 .... I can not believe it !!! I am wondering what kind of discount he is talking about .... What a rip off. I am in the DFW area ... It is the same from infiniti all the dealers quoted me invoice + $1000 ... I am disappointed
  • crispybearcrispybear Member Posts: 3
You can do better than that. I just bought a white 2008 TL w/ NAV in Southern California (Thomas Acura) for $29600.

The only reason I can think of is that there is just no inventory there. Any luck looking at nearby dealers for available cars?

There is a black on black type S and white on parchment also Type S sitting on my dealer's lot since Thanksgiving.I am in the North East (Connecticut Fairfiled County).
  • yehyemyesyehyemyes Member Posts: 36
Any idea of how much are they asking for? Thanks.
  • billyperks2billyperks2 Member Posts: 378

FWIW, I recently came across a white, 2008 TL with Nav and rear camera with 2,600 miles for $26,995 in Bloomfield, Ct. I considered buying it and trucking to my home state of Fl. after my local dealer insisted on getting $31,800 for a new one. Wife tells me she doesn't want a white car, so forget that. The car can be seen at theautopro.com
  • whit5whit5 Member Posts: 65
i talked your internet sales guy, he said the white type-s is white/taupe interior, the black type-s is black/taupe interior also.

so what is the correct color combo??? :confuse:
  • whit5whit5 Member Posts: 65
also , are the type-s used or NEW??
  • yehyemyesyehyemyes Member Posts: 36
    it's new.
  • yehyemyesyehyemyes Member Posts: 36
both are good color combination. what's the price they are asking for?
  • whit5whit5 Member Posts: 65
i would disagree, the parchment is tan interior, not very flatering and gets dirty easy..
  • whit5whit5 Member Posts: 65
last i heard was 32,977, too much for a car a year old now IMO, i have a friend who bought a type-s 07' last yr in JAN and paid 31k. thats a fair price ...

also i have seen these 2 type-s cars sititng on there lot since August when i was last there..The high price is probably why they have not sold since then., and the color combo im sure.
  • yehyemyesyehyemyes Member Posts: 36
I agree. Let us see when all the dealers start liquidating 08 TLs.
  • rzurawikrzurawik Member Posts: 13
Looking to get a 2009 Acura TL with tech package. Anybody get a quote lately? Any specials on financing?
  • billyperks2billyperks2 Member Posts: 378
Maybe I am wrong about the interior but I will pass by tomorrow and take a look. The two cars are the first thing you see when you enter the dealershp from the south end. They have been sitting there for over four months now, I did not pay detail attention to them because I am not intresed in that model year. Also they look brand new to me.
  • whit5whit5 Member Posts: 65
    Billyperks,
please let me know on the interior colors/combo... i live a few hours from there so a drive to see would be a long ride..thanks...

i agree with you, i saw those 2 cars there in August when i was in that area . Back then they were asking 32,977, and its now 6 months later and price still the same. Thus the reason there still sitting there. I have heard that milford acura is not a very good dealership to buy from thru people on the web. many bad experiences , and most said they are more expensive than surrounding dealerships and dont budge.
  • decisions2decisions2 Member Posts: 21
Agreed that Milford Acura isn't the greatest dealership in CT. I shopped throughout CT and NY when shopping for my 2008 (TL with Nav) and Milford was not high on my list based on price and the sales guys. Not to mention that they didn't throw in any of the perks the other deals do, like free oil change for life, free car wash every time you bring it in, free loaner car with any major service, etc. I ended up battling between Greenwich and Norwalk, and Norwalk won my purchase. I have brought the car in for the first oil change and another call and I have nothing but great things to say about them too. So their sales guys are great, and their service is top notch (At least in my first 1 or 2 experiences).

Maybe Milford has changed their perks package since then, but these perks are actually really nice. Love getting my car back nice and clean for free, and free oil changes! :)
  • whit5whit5 Member Posts: 65
did you end up buying a TYPE-S from Norwalk??

its funny you said that also about Milford Acura also. i agree 100%. even thru email there internet sales mgs was an A@@.. Like i said before i now see even more why they still have 2 type-s cars sitting on there lot not moving since at least Aug.

HI i was reading that you buy from joe rizza acura...How much did u pay for the car?I have hard time dealing with joe rizza for negotiation... appreciate your reply at alanjorjorian45@hotmail.com... thanks alan
  • billyperks2billyperks2 Member Posts: 378
Wow- you guys are really hard on Milford, back in 2002 when I bought my type s I got it through Greenwich.Norwalk and Milford would not budge on their prices. Now seven years later Greenwich and Norwalk are real sleezy and Milford seems to be real honest and trust worthy. The sale guys in Norwalk are real cocky, they dont have that hungry look about them. Anyway, enough about those guys, my business would probably end up with Milford or North Haven. Also, Milford throws in a lot of perks, check out thier web site.

rzurawik...There are currently no special finance offers from Acura on TL purchases...at least not in California.

My wife and I just bought a 2009 TL with Tech package for $35,000. It included the trunk mat, splash guards, door guards, and wheel locks. This price was over $1,300 below invoice. I'm not sure if there have been any better deals out there....We love the car.

Hello. I'm coming to the end of the lease on my TL and was wondering if anyone had any previous experience with turning in an Acura that you've leased? I'm well within the mileage limits, and the car is in "good" shape, meaning is has normal wear for 3 year old car. Mats are worn, some minor paint damage from rocks, one minor door ding from another car that scratched the paint, and a chip on the windshield that I had "fixed" through my insurance company. They wouldn't replace the windshield so you can still see the mark, but it has been repaired. Tires are still within their tread limits. Other than getting the car detailed prior to turning it in, any tips?

    Dixon,

Thanks for the reply. Was that $35,000 total out the door or plus TTL?

    Thanks

  • whit5whit5 Member Posts: 65

  • whit5whit5 Member Posts: 65
    billyperks2

did the interior look like the Taupe in this interior link shot..3rd color over from left.
taupe(light grey interior color). click on taupe. was that the color of the type-s ??

    http://www.acura.com/InteriorColor.aspx?model=TL

    thanks
  • dixonjim65dixonjim65 Member Posts: 3
    rzurawik,

It was plus tax, and license....but I have not seen a lower price, although with this economy we might!!
  • billyperks2billyperks2 Member Posts: 378
the taupe in the type s looks more like a parchment color, also, there was no wood grain.
  • whit5whit5 Member Posts: 65
ah thats too bad, the color of the seats are not bad but when they do the carpets in that Camel/parchment color, its terrible !!! bad job on acura parts with that color combo...
  • bigumsbigums Member Posts: 4
Armed with that information what would you offer a dealer for that car? $1000 below?, or $1,500...No!!! We would ask and expect the full $2,200 below invoice. And be upset when the dealership says "Pass". Once again I'm not saying pay sticker for a car unless the market demands, but if I investested my hard earned dollar in a business, I would certainly expect more that the $1,500 on a 30,000 to $45,000 investment per car, that has to come from the factory to survive even in good times. Soon these facilities that have to make an honest, profit honestly, will cease to exist, at which point you will have no choice but to go to the only other certified Acura dealership to service your car, and believe me, that dealer will know that he/she is the only game in town at that point, not to say that they won't treat you nicely, but I'm sure that will have and effect on what you ultimately pay for service.
  • billyperks2billyperks2 Member Posts: 378
or better yet, cut out the dealers and go straight to the manufacturer.
  • pescamaaanpescamaaan Member Posts: 6
    any thoughts on the following:

    2006 TL
    Base w/o NAV
    36,000 miles
    1 owner (former lease)
    Dark gray ext
    beige leather int
    automatic

i can get in around 20,250 after some negotiation - i've contacted a few dealers about similar cars and they don't seem too willing to budge.

is this a reasonable price or are the certified 2006's a better deal in the high teens (if anyone can actually get them there...)

    hey everyone

    I just got a quote on a 2009 TL SH-AWD

    $42,995 MSRP
$40,972 sale price not including $1000 cash to dealer incentive
$39,972 including $1000 cash to dealer incentive

and I assume but didn't ask that it includes the delivery fee of $760

this in the Seattle, WA area

    thx for any feedback
  • jdl300jdl300 Member Posts: 17
    should probably mention it is
    2009 sh-awd with tech package
  • bigumsbigums Member Posts: 4
The local and state government won't let that happen. Then you really wouldn't have any way of negotiating on a price. If all of the dealerships were owned by the manufacturer, there would be no reason to "dicker on the sticker" with any potential buyer. You'd have to go to another state to buy---..oh wait, the manufacturer owns that one too!! No deals there. Or better yet just wait until there are enough incentives to get to the "sweet spot" and then buy, just like we do today. There is no perfect solution to the cycle and that exactly what it is, a cycle. So stop worrying about how much the next person paid for the car and if they got a better deal than you or me for that matter. If I can afford the price/payment that it takes to lease/buy the car and they happen to make a fair profit during the transaction so be it. That's what they're there for, to stay in business, and make a profit, so that when I do go there for a service visit, I know that they will take care of all of my needs and provide me with a loaner car to boot. I'm sure those aren't free.
They aren't driving themselves out of business, it's us the consumer, always looking for a better, cheaper deal. And as I said before we will have no choice but the remaining dealers to repair our cars, or it will be jiffy lube that's closer to our homes or workplaces because the one that we beat out of some profit couldn't afford to keep their doors open... even with service business.
  • billyperks2billyperks2 Member Posts: 378
What are they selling you the for- 39K or 40K?
I was offered 40,575 including the incentive.
So basically the dealer is making 2k off this 1k above invoice and 1k back from the Manufacturer. All this includes destination.
