Anyone thoughts on weather Acura will eventually go to a 0% financing. Looks like every other company is going that direction.

My 08 S dealer still has some 08 TLs w/Nav - $29,328 plus ttldd. (MSRP $36,940). None without Nav however
    (Rizza) Chicago So Side

They also have on Type S but it has 19" wheels $34,328 plus ttldd. (MSRP $38,940 plus $3,935 for the installed accessories) the accessories installed are as follows: 18" Acura Chrome look wheels, all season mats and wheel locks

I am currently looking 2008 Tl basic model but was unable to find the $3500 incentive and dealer holdback $642. Could you please help where to find these info. I lived in Houston, TX, does the incentive apply here? If not I can order form dealealer out of state.

    Thanks.

whit5, When I was there they had a couple of silvers, a black one, and a maroon one. I got a silver one. My price was posted a couple of days ago.
  • 2008stype2008stype Member Posts: 41
I have a silver 08 S as well. The amazing thing is I get a lot of compliments about the wheels! Comments are even from non-car types. I have gotten more comments about the wheels than the car - go figure.

Looks like a super deal to me. I spent 33.4 in April.
  • whit5whit5 Member Posts: 65
i saw your price post but however all that was mentioned is you paid $26k for the car minus trade and deiscount..does'nt tell what you actually paid for the car alone though ?? :confuse:

I have notices this vibration on my 2005 TL. Brought the issue to the dealer several times. After driving the car the dealer says it is normal. It drives me crazy especially on long highway trips. Did you get any other information concerning this problem? It is really annoying and takes away the pleasure on driving/owning the car.

I would have thought visiting an Acura dealer would be a better experience than that of a Honda dealer. Boy, was I wrong. These folks tried to pull one of those "bait and switch" on me. What a disappointment!!

The sales guy has quoted me for a white 2008 TL w/out navi for $30400 out-the-door total, and invited me to go visit him and for a test drive. So I drove 50 plus miles in the rain from Mountain View to Marin to check out the car. When I got there, the guy didn't even greet me or bother to shake my hand, bad impression. He immediately wanted me to sit down and get the paperwork started. I was like can I see the car first? Then he said that the car is actually at another Acura dealer up in Sacramento. At that point, I was just PO. And he said that I should drive another 100+ mile to sacramento for the test drive if I want. What an a-hole. No wonder Acura is loosing customer to the folks at Infiniti and Lexus. I have bought many hondas and acuras, and this was my worst car shopping experience ever. <img src="
  • whit5whit5 Member Posts: 65
i have had 2 bad experience at dealers in MA, one Acura of Walpole and another at Herb Connely in Framingham, i will NEVER step foot in those dealers again or recommend to any1. Also was disgusted with Milford Acura in CT, real bad experience there also as i heard from others about them too..

however i have had great experience buying Honda accords, if the new accords were not soo ugly i would buy another. so now im moving onto MB and Lexus ;)
  • brygobrygo Member Posts: 12
I also had a similar experience with them. All along during the price discussion on the phone for several days, they indicated that the car is available in their inventory. After we agreed on the price, they disclosed it was a dealer trade when I asked for confirmation. So it was no deal with them.

My experience with other internet sale managers in the south bay are quite positive. Give them a try at Sunnyvale, Los Gatos, and Hopkins Acura in Redwood City.
  • zrockszrocks Member Posts: 1
When I was shopping around in May, I emailed all the local dealers in the bay area. I also felt that Marin seemed unpleasant to deal with. They wanted me to visit them in person "right now," literally. Oakland offered to "beat" the lowest price, but when I asked them for the total and itemize it, they added the freight charge again, whereas the other dealers already included the freight charge. Serramonte was the best, in my experience, and that's where I purchased my 2008 TL the next day.

I contacted Rizza Acura, talked to the general Manager himself, they do have a 2008 Type S with Special Chrome Wheels and some type of All Season Tires.

This car has FIVE THOUSAND MILES on it however.....and they are NOT willing to adjust price for the 5000 Miles that they have put on it. They're giving me Invoice Minus 3500 Rebate, but ADD $2500 for the Rims and Tires.

I researched into how much those Chrome Wheels and Tires are going for if you buy them seperately and it is somewhere near $2000 Max, not $2500. Also, they are not not willing to give up any of the dealer holdback. I guess it might be a great deal for someone who really wants a Type S really badly, but not for me.

    What do you guys think?
  • 2008stype2008stype Member Posts: 41
I suspect you talked to Dale, I made my deal with Chuck over the internet. I would not pay $2500+ plus for 19" wheels as the std ones are great and they will wear quicker and cost more money to replace.

I had a good experience at Rizza but at that time the "S" were generally easy to get. I was happy with my deal as I got it out the door for about 2K less than MSRP (that included all taxes, title, and other minor costs).

They apparently have quite a few TLs/with Nav. Maybe you can get a better deal on one of those. Don't forget your not buying a 20K car so the dealer is expecting to make a few more $ as they are not as a high volume vehicle. I could not get an indication what % of TLs are S but I suspect they are a bit scarce.

Hope something works out for you.

Thanks for your sharing. Then I don't need to drive 50+ miles to Marin Acura to deal the pricing this weekend, I can check with Las Gatos first, similar quotaion but much closer.

Same here in St. Louis. What's up with these Acura salesman. They pulled a bait and switch with us too. I was quoted Base TL $28,900 price via internet. Told him no spoiler. Arrive at their "upscale" showroom and the salesman tells me he made a mistake. The only one left came with a rear spoiler for an extra $750. When I told him to take it off, he claimed he could not remove it. I said leave the spoiler but I want Michelins put on the car instead of the [non-permissible content removed] OEM's. He said no.
I returned later that day but the guy left for the day. When I couldnt find the car, another salesman told me it was the guys demo that he drives back and forth to work. If this is the way Acura does business maybe GM will survive.

I actually got that a little bit from the Concord dealer. I had a price that I wanted to be matched/beat, and the person I spoke to at first said to come in and they would be confident to beat the price. When I probed a little more via email to get something a little more concrete before I came in, they emailed back to say that there's no way they can beat that price.

I contacted Marin also. To their credit, they said right off the bat they couldn't match the price. At least they didn't try to do a bait/switch on me.

The person at Los Gatos that I spoke to seemed pretty nice, but I didn't really deal with them enough to form a strong opinion.

When I ask dealers to beat prices, I'll usually ask them to beat the OTD price, just so that it's easier to compare.

What kind of prices are you seeing? I just bought a TL a couple of weeks ago, and I'm curious to see if prices are dropping at all now that it's near the end of the year
  • mugenex6mugenex6 Member Posts: 33
Alright... I need some help in deciding between these two:

    My two choices:
    1. 2008 TL w/ Nav: 29,800K (plus Tax+Title+doc fee) with 0.9%
    2. 2008 RL w/ Nav: 41K (plus Tax+Title+doc fee) with 6% (Special Financing Expired)
  • brygobrygo Member Posts: 12
I would go for the 08 TL since you get the best bang for the buck. If I'm going to spend 41K, then I would go for the 09 TL with all wheel drive and tech package.
  • loukinglouking Member Posts: 28
IMHO, it's better to not restrict yourself to only 2 choices. Your in the driver seat these days when it comes to negotiating a vehicle. Personally, I would never put up that kind of money for a any vehicle with 48k miles.
I have been considering the TL as well, but the two Acura dealers in St. Louis must be suffering from recession denial. I got the same quote for a 2008 TL w/o NAV.
The Infiniti dealer offered a huge discount on a 2008, but the Infiniti's mpg is low.
  • mugenex6mugenex6 Member Posts: 33
Hi Louking, I'm confused... not sure where you're getting the 48,000 Miles from. .
  • al1515al1515 Member Posts: 5
I have my eye on an '08 TL, and it comes with an "appearance pro. pkg." as well as pinstripes down each side. I talked to the dealer, and they had a lot of trouble explaining to me what the pro pkg was. I am assuming your "propac" is the same thing.

Do you know exactly what it is?
  • GreenCowGreenCow Member Posts: 5
From my experience, "pro pack" (short for protection package) includes 4 mud guards, a trunk tray, and wheel locks. Dealers usually charge between 300 to 500 for this addon. The trunk tray and wheel locks I think are fairly standard between dealers, but some dealers will have painted mud guards whereas others will include generic black plastic mud guards. (The latter are cheaper, but I actually kinda like them better)

Not sure what the "appearance" pro pack is. But it is somewhat unusual that they cannot explain what is included with the car. You usually can ask what additionally installed accessories they have, and they better be able to explain exactly what is on the car.

Beware of any dealers who try to negotiate a price and THEN disclose that there are additional accessories on the car than when you first negotiated (at an additional cost, of course). Sometimes, they'll say one thing over the phone and then reveal the other accessories when you actually go into the dealership.
  • 2008stype2008stype Member Posts: 41
These items are dealer installed options - AKA additional dealer markup. I got the Acura mudflaps thrown-in on my deal. I would teld the dealer I was not interested and have them taken off. A roll of tape is cheap and would not take an hour to install.
  • 2008stype2008stype Member Posts: 41
I would also go for the TL as I believe it will have a much higher resale alter on as well as it being an new car. The warantee is 4 years 48K miles I believe so why buy without a warantee?
  • luv2cruseluv2cruse Member Posts: 6
Hi, I have just purchased a 2008 TL base model for $27400. Out-the-door total $30,100 with 0.9% 36mos financing. The total interest for this car is only $420... almost free money. The car has 124 miles, but includes floor mats, trunk tray, and wheel locks. Is this a good price? I bought it from Elk Grove Acura in Sacramento, CA. It's white exterior, ebony interior.

    Thanks.
  • mikey38mikey38 Member Posts: 141
Since you already bought it why worry whether or not someone on here thinks you got a good deal? Just enjoy it....and be happy you didn't get stuck with a butt ugly 09!!
  • revrasrevras Member Posts: 63
Search this forum under the word vibration and you will see this apparently was a problem in many TLs especially 2004-2008. Don't know if there are any resolutions but I would read and see what others experienced in the way of a fix.

    Precision Acura in Princeton, NJ
40,000 for 2009 TL with AWD and TECH
traded in my 95000 mile Accord that needed some work on the brake pads and alignment for 6k. Declined all the usual crap about extended warranty and super coated paint, etc....

36k+tax+title. (got rid of "destination charge")

got quote from internet dept. good place. reliable. Went to a competing dealership in bridgewater, NJ and offered them the price i was getting from Precision to see if they wanted to beat it...

either they thought i was bluffing or they really had no interest in selling a car, but they essentially rebuked me and said, "if someone is going to give you that car for that price, i suggest you go there"

    so i did.

    the irony?

Precision didnt have the color of the car that i wanted....

they had to get it from Bridgewater dealership.

    happy shopping...

I originally thought about posting the entire email thread ...but it takes up a lot of space here so I decided against it. I will email it however to anyone who'd like to read the ENTIRE email, its pretty "interesting". I'm going to post just a few parts of the email to keep it short: I offered to pay 29,200 for TL w/ NAV.

I'll post just a few of the salesman's emails here: (I've cut out the salesman's name per forum rules)

We have only one Acura TL NAVI (2008) left on our lot in White Diamond Pearl/Taupe. We have received several phone calls this morning alone on that vehicle from other dealerships, which puts us in a very good place. I know that you two are seeking a deal...so are we. This is truly 'first come, first served!' We only had two 2008 Acuras left at the start of business this morning: the TL and an MDX...which just got sold--and I had to send an email to my client that it was sold (unfortunately, not by me)...the
TL has one of my co-worker's taking pix of this same vehicle right now! It may be sold before I hear from you, so hurry!

Your expecting the dealership to lose just over $2200 on this deal...and if you recall, this is our LAST one--the same one that we have several offers on from clients and dealerships, alike! We have one inbound offer @ $34500 on this vehicle that the sales manager is awaiting this clients arrival. Losing money is even open for discussion for him on this deal. He's looking to acquire more 2008, because of how 'hot' they have become at this moment!
Edmunds has this vehicle going for $32,577 and you see how different your offer is to what he's about to receive. The clients have just entered the building. I will contact you when this deal has concluded (either way). Where could we meet (in the middle) with this deal--$33,995??? That's if these clients don't buy!I believe the online inquiry...you have the dealership's number to check the validity of the last 2008 TL potentially being sold--you can call and anonymously check.Talk to you soon.Let me know your final offer...

Simple math alone (subtracting the $3500 and the $640) still leaves $32845--where is the other three grand comes from to get down to your final asking price??? My response:
Hi, its alright, don't worry about it. You must be looking at MSRP price. I'm telling you that theres are people paying 29500 including destination minus TTL. The $3500 and $640 was off the INVOICE, not MSRP. But like I said.. dont worry about it, a response isnt needed. I think we both know this isnt going to work out.
    --------------------------------
Ofcourse, the salesman sent me another email anyways being a smarta$$ just like you would expect. I just want to say "Good Job ORR Acura of Shreveport Louisiana" :)
  • whit5whit5 Member Posts: 65
sounds to me like the salesman was trying to get msrp and 3500 off that. NOW thats a scam. 3500 is off invoice. Typical sale pitch "o we have other clients interested in the vehicle also, i heard that from a few dealership also AND guess what the 2 cars i was interested in are still sitting on there lot 2day, which is over 4 months ago. thats just goes to show what crooks they are. Consumers are not stupid ! when are dealers going to realize this.

Let him keep the car, stay firm on your price and if you buy elsewhere drive over to that dealership with the car you bought and show him what BS he told you. ;)
  • whit5whit5 Member Posts: 65
you got a good price ..great job. :) ..and sounds like a good dealership to buy from.
  • lynn37lynn37 Member Posts: 8
The sales person I was speaking with mentioned that the $3500 rebate may not be available after Dec 31 this week. Do any of you know how likely the rebate will be carried over to the new year?
  • 2008stype2008stype Member Posts: 41
I have an 08 TL Type S (auto all weather tires). After 6 K miles no issues with any kind of vibration.
  • whit5whit5 Member Posts: 65
thats a salesmans pitch to get u to buy now ! just think after dec 31st that car becomes a year old. you will probably get a better deal. they will be looking to bargain more.

    Hi All

I have an offer of $30,000 on a new...untitled 2008 TL w/nav from a dealer. It was a loaner though and has about 5k miles on it and qualifies for .9% financing. What do you think? Thanks.
  • whit5whit5 Member Posts: 65
personally i think that is too much for a vehicle with already 5k on it..that is a DEMO..offer them $28,500 and walk away. see if they call. you should be able to get a new car 0 miles for that 30k.

a dealer had a type-s with 5600 miles on it that i looked at , he wanted $31,500 for it , i offered $29k and left, they kept calling but i decided i didnt want a salesmans demo that was beat on.

if you live near MA let me know . a dealer here has 2 demos . type-s cars . one has 6k on it another has 13k i think....

    good luck
  • GreenCowGreenCow Member Posts: 5
I agree with the other response. 30.0 (I am assuming this does NOT include TTL?) is too high for a demo TL w/ nav. But if it's 30.0 INCLUDING tax... that's not as bad of a deal

I bought a TL with nav for about 29.6 (including a pro pack) before TTL with 60 miles on it. Of course, I am making the assumption that pricing in your area is roughly around mine.
  • lynn37lynn37 Member Posts: 8
I got a quote today for a demo 2008 TL w/nav at low $26k. It has about 8k miles. Is it a good price? I may not have much room to get the price lower than this.

I might be able to get a better deal if I wait a couple months into 2009 when the car is 1 year old. The other option is to go with a brand new one which will cost 3-4k more.

    What you all think?
  • skgolferskgolfer Member Posts: 17
    Hi GreenCow

The TL with/Nav for 29.6 was that a 2008 or 2009 and how long ago did you get it. I am in South Jersey....which area are you in. Thanks.
  • whit5whit5 Member Posts: 65
$26k sounds good. But if thats a quote from the dealer , then you can bargain lower. offer them $25k
  • GreenCowGreenCow Member Posts: 5
I'm in the SF Bay Area. The TL w/ Nav that I got was an 08. I don't think you'll find an 09 TL w/ Nav for that low for quite a while :)

I am just wondering if anyone is planning on purchasing TL tomorrow on Dec 31. The dealers are very aggressively cutting price to clear out inventories. So I am very tempted to make an offer tomorrow. But I also have a 2nd thought that the price will do further down with where the economy is going. Hard to decide.

Having trouble deciding between the 09 TL vs 09 Accord coupe V6. Like how they both drove, seems like they are so similar in many ways, and the minor differences don't justify a 5-6000$ cost difference. I realize an Acura is a luxury version of a Honda, but is it really worth it?
If I do go with the 09 TL without tech, front wheel, was quoted a price of 33,600. Could prob negotiate that down to maybe 31-32. Anyone paying in that range?
  • vballplayer30vballplayer30 Member Posts: 27
I'm in the same boat. Buy today (31st), wait till next week or late next month (end of month is the best time to buy). What prices are you being quoted? I have an offer over the phone for a 09 without nav, front wheel 33,645. Could prob get another 1500-2500 off since that was their 1st offer. Also debating between the accord coupe and the 09 TL. Having trouble justifying 5-6000$ extra for a very similar car.

I picked up an '09 non-Tech FWD today for $32,395. I got rid of an '08 Accord EX-L V-6 due to issues with the VCM system on the V-6.

If you decide to go with the Honda, make sure you test drive the EXACT car you are going to purchase. Not all V-6's are created equal. I test drove an EX V-6, and everything was great. At the last minute I decided to get one with leather instead, and it's V-6 was horrible due to the VCM. The problem was I hadn't test driven it prior to signing on the dotted line.

The last day of Honda's Fiscal year is January 5, 2009. For other manufacturer's it is January 2, 2009. This is the actual target date not December 31, 2008.

I'm picking up my TSX tomorrow - agreed upon price is $621 below invoice.
  • 10sfan10sfan Member Posts: 136
Just remember a Demo, is a dealership rental car as is a loaner. Depending on the mileage, 50 -75 different drivers have driven the car, knowing they had no financial interest in the car, just like driving an Enterprise rental car. Adjust the price with the dealership accordingly.
