Good Luck
Regarding the price, the base car, without the added options that you don't care about, has an invoice of approximately $32,140. I bougth a brand new 2004 6-speed Navi, with the HPT package for $1,000 over invoice in May, for a total price of $33,330.
The price you are being quoted is about $1,000 over invoice, not including the addtional options. Frankly, I don't think that's a fair deal for a demo, let alone a good one. As a matter of fact, I think you can get a brand new 2005 TL w/Nav for around $33,400. There is one report here for $32,900 +/-. This dealer may be "straight up" but they are trying to take you to the cleaners on the price.
Again, I look at demos from a fairly critical perspective. Why buy a car someone else (or, rather , about 100 someone else's) have racked up 4,000+ miles of test driving on? The answer would only be to save substantial money. Starting with the assumption you can by a brand new 2005 for $33,400, I wouldn't pay more than $32,000 for a brand new 2004, or about $30,000 or less for a demo with 4,000+ miles on it. That's about a 10-11% savings over a brand new, one model year newer vehicle. Any less of a savings isn't "substantial" in my book. Any coincidence that I have only bought new cars and never a demo??
Sounds like a great deal. I'd like to know if that price does (or NOT) include all fees like taxes,TTL, tags, etc.? Also, did you put any $$ down?
Thanks,
Rod
I am getting ready to buy a non-navi 2005 TL. I saw an '05 TL in the dealership today with Bridgestone tires. Do you think it is worth having them switched right now and adding this as part of the total negotiated price? I thought all '05 cars had Michelins but it may possibly be true with only navi models. Any comments or suggestions?
Any new buyers of '05 non-navi: Can you please check your tires?
Might want to check with Ticher Acura in Laurel and Frankel Acura in Timonium (MD).
cost came to about $35300 OTD. Put down $3500 to cover tax/title/tag/etc so balance was $31,800
I rather suspected you had to put down some $$ to get such a low lease. I'm not sure whether my deal was fair or whether I got taken: $590/mo for 36 mos, including all taxes, fees, etc., and nothing down, for 05 TL - AT/NAVI/splash guards/wheel locks. The only $$ out of my pocket for the deal was the first month's payment.
Is this a great country, or what?!
Oh well, the car's just simply fabulous, so no use cryin' over what's done (if my deal was bad, afterall).

I'm also interested in adding some of the exterior accessories such as the deck lid spoiler, body side moulding, and side underbody spoiler. The Aura website shows the retial cost of these items without installation. Should I expect to pay full price? About how much for installation?
Finally, the salesman told me the TL is low maintenance- needs an oil change only every 7500 miles. Is that true?
It appears Edmunds just shows the MSRP for the TMV value in my area (Sacramento). What's a fair amount to pay over invoice for a basic '05 TL without Nav system?
When I started my shopping for a new TL with A/T & Nav about 2 months ago, I solicited bids from 11 dealers in the area, from Marin to Seaside. I got 10 quotes back and 7 of them were exactly the same: $34,470, or $1000 below sticker. The other 3 were about $500 higher.
Well, I waited things out for awhile, as inventories started to build a little, and finally picked up my new TL from Los Gatos Acura this past Tuesday for $33,700 + TTL. I had actually gotten a bid of $33,500 from Marin Acura but I elected not to make the 1.5 hour drive to save another $200. I should say that Marin seemed quite anxious to earn my business and was ready to go the extra mile.
One other key point here is that I had ordered the Deep Green Pearl w/ Parchment combination, which was very scarce during the time in which I was shopping. The effect of that situation was that only the two dealers I mentioned had a vehicle on which they could compete for my business. If you are looking for Silver or Anthracite, however, you've got bunches of them on the lots right now and you should be able to get an even better deal with more dealers competing. Acura of Concord also has good stock.
As far as the car itself is concerned, so far so good. It sure is tough driving, however, while you're trying to figure out how to work all the new stuff. Sorry for the long post.
You should not have to pay any bank fee at all. Some dealerships charge a 'processing fee' and this is optional too. At max they might charge $100 for doing the paperwork.
The more specific of a car you want (ex. color, accessories, body kits, etc) the less bargaining power you have. So don't show interest in these things to the dealer right away. You could try to get them afterwards. Ofcource buying items from the dealer will be more expensive. They will charge installation and it can add up.
Maintenance is relative because it depends on how hard you drive the car, short distance, long distance, lot of uphill, by the sea, desert. With normal driving conditions the TL only needs an oil change after 7500 miles because it uses synthetic oils.
I think it's a good deal because you're done after 32 months. Either way if you buy or lease the dealer will still come out on top.
BTW...what resale value did you get if you wanted to purchase after the lease?
Also do you know what price they would charge if you wanted to buy before the lease ends? (Lease balance + resale) or (lease balance + purchase price balance.)
and I'm in OC, Cal.
Shop around. All depends on the color.
Are these synthetic oils readily available at gas stations or Jiffy Lube? I would not be takingthe car back to the dealer for oil changes.
In addition, should you decide to switch to syntheetic oil, there does not appear tobe an adjustment to the service computer in the car - and it will assume you have dino-oil for purposes of giving "oil life remaining" readings.
I have a 6-speed and have needed new oil after 4,000 and 8,000 miles, andd I'm now reading 50% left after 10,000 miles. So, at least with the 6-speed, the oil change interval with regular oil is about 4,000 miles. I intend to switch to Mobil 1 at my next change.
I am a little surprised that the TL doesn't ship with Mobil 1. My Honda S2000 did, and virtually every other sedan I was considering along with the TL did.
Is Mobil the only company that makes oil that will last 7500 miles? There are no Mobil stations in my area. In fact, the only station with a garage is a Union 76 station. Does Union 76 make a similar product?
I guess Nav TL supplies are beefed up more to a point where even Bay Area dealers are dealing. I also noticed that Nav premium over non-Nav is shrinking to about just what msrp would suggest. Better time to get a Nav TL it seems now.
Edit: Habitat1, forgot to mention that it was at Rosenthal (in Gaithersburg, I think?).
BTW, do you know what kind of deals are they giving to non-Nav now, considering a Nav one can be had for just above $33.5K?
Mobil 1 is probably no better than some of the other synthetics, but they have managed to get specified as the oil used from the factory by Mercedes, BMW and a number of high end performance cars. They are also a true synthetic, not a blend like some of the others.
I still find it curious that I can only get 4,000 miles out of a 6-speed oil change and the others here get 6,000-8,000 on an automatic. I shift at a "healthy" 4,000 rpms, but I certainly don't redline it at every opportunity.

Anyone who recently purchased an auto w/nav in the NYC area wants to let me know the price they got, and from where?
