igiban: Of the 11 dealers I initially contacted there was not a single dealer who had my color combination. The price on the car only started to drop when two of the dealers finally had what I wanted in stock. Actually having the car in stock is, I believe, the biggest motivator for any dealer to want to move the product out the door, especially if he has a lot of a particular color. The only accessory I got with the car was wheel locks, though, I hadn't requested them. The dealer at Los Gatos just threw them in. I don't know what non-Nav cars are going for now in the Bay Area because I never asked.
But Honda is having a fire sale on Accords $250 under invoice on a loaded EX V-6 Nav and 1.9% for 5 yrs.
Hard to pass up.

Thanks

I live in North Carolina and I'll be buying a 2005 TL early next year and I'm definitely willing to drive to SC, VA or even Ohio to get the best deal.
Did they try to add anything on to the base price like admin fees or was this strictly 30,750 plus tax, tags and title? Who did you deal with? I'm not having the same luck with them.
Tom
What do you think about the Out the door price for 05' TL with navigator, splash guard, trunk tray, and wheel lock in LA? Thanks.
I've been following this thread and it's been very helpful. This is my first post.I have the same question about the prices quoted.
My understanding is that the prices quoted on this site should include all fees except Tax,Tag and License. I'm worried about getting a great dealer quote and then finding out it didn't include dealer fees such as local advertising, destination, documentation and other administration fees.
I live in Sacramento. I'm just starting to shop for an 05 TL W/NAV,anthracite or silver/ebony, wheel locks, mud flaps, trunk tray. My understanding from reading prior posts is that $33,100 would be a great deal. $33,500 a good deal and $33,800+ an okay deal.
Does that sound about right and do those prices include dest, admin. and other dealer fees? Thanks.
It looks like you have a good handle on it.. Everything you have said is correct..
You just have to make it clear when negotiating, that you are only going to pay tax, and government licensing fees over and above your offer.. If they notify you upfront that there will be other fees, take those into account when making your offer, and walk away if it doesn't add up.

I actually leased the car but that was the number we worked with. As I said I bought it the last day of the month and had no trade-in to play with. I just looked at my paperwork and there were no add ons. I dealt with Ian there who was very helpful. If you're not in too much hurry you might get better luck in 2 weeks.

MSRP - $35,470
Cap - $34,165 (includes $595 bank fee)
Residual - 54%
MF - 0.00220
42 month lease / no money down
$474.71 pre-tax monthly
This is in Atlanta where the car appears to be selling well.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.
Thanks.
I asked them to throw in the protection package (wheel locks, mud guard & truck tray), they wouldn't and could only agree to give me free wheel locks. Anyway, I think the deal is good since it's only $620 over the invoice price. What do you guys think?
What dealership/where?
Was it an internet quote or did you have to haggle a lot?
Lastly, was the car on the lot?
Thanks.
We test drove the TL next to last at the other dealership in town fully expecting to do business there. Armed with your pricing I asked if they were competitive price wise with Lindsay. They said "yes" and proceeded to say they had never sold a TL for that price and that I must be mistaken as to the pricing. They also quoted my trade at a ball park of $1000 to $2000 less. I hadn't talked to Lindsay before so I called them to ask them to confirm a price for a TL. They gave me the price over the phone, and in an hour we were there closing the deal. We didn't go back to the other dealer or share pricing with either dealer. It was the best buying experience I've had since buying cars.
A footnote for others reading this post. I'm told that Lindsay not only does internet sales in a multi state area, but they deliver.
Doesn't any Acura dealers do the same?
I would pay $500 under invoice tomorrow for a '05 TL 5 spd AT, in blue or red.

PS My Red 2002 Formula Firehawk (VERY rare) was smashed & totaled by lady in a Camry running a red light! Turns out, my car, as configured, was 1 of 9 made, according to SLP last Monday! I ordered it as a Formula Firehawk, w all options except car cover! I guess I had the right idea. Too bad they have salvage titles or I would have it fixed.
I presently own a Lincoln (still under warranty) and their corporate policy is to provide a loaner. I don't see any such policy with Acura.
I take both vehicles to Tischer for service. They have their own Acura loaners (TL's, RSX's, and TSX's) which they provide first-come first serve to people who have purchased from them. For everyone else, they have enterprise rent-a-cars. When I go there for service, I ask for a TL loaner when I schedule my appointment. I have been fortunate to get that loaner even when the MDX is serviced there. I have been going to them since 1991(I used to own an Integra), and have used the same service manager for the last 6 or seven years.
When you have a chance, just call the Acura dealer closest to you and ask to speak to a service manager. Ask him what their loaner policy is. They should have no problem telling you how they do business. and remember- the service department needs to make money just like the sales department. They do not care where you purchased your car, they just want an acura to work on.
Also, we have always used the Edmunds method to buy our vehicles (from Honda's to BMW's) and have never paid sticker and will not for any car. Saying that, please advise me on how much wiggle room are in the TL's and prices paid in this AREA.
Many thanks for your speedy input.
Thanks.
