What is a TTL as opposed to a TL
  • ksyrupksyrup Member Posts: 11
I've been told the financing offer this weekend is 1.99% for 24/36 months and 3.99% for 48/60 months. HOWEVER, I just got an automated email from a Jacksonville Florida dealer offering 0% this weekend. I've also been told that any financing deals offered by Acura's in-house financier (Honda, I guess) are available to all dealerships, so theoretically, this deal should be available to everyone. I sure hope so, as I've already committed to another dealer. Looks like I've got a call to make tomorrow.

I purchased an 05 tl w/navi in january for 33,373 minus the extras your car has.(Syracuse, NY) Sounds like a typical sales ploy. Those "extras" surely don't add up to $800. In my opinion, spoiler is unattractive, wheel locks available at auto zone for $40 and trunk tray is useless.

Is this special financing on an Acura TL? I have A+ credit and all the dealer could do for me is 4.9%. I am looking elsewhere. :(
  • blondebuyerblondebuyer Member Posts: 6
I've been told that the special financing is only for the Acura MDX. I am in the NoVa area. I'm gonna be hot if this financing deal applies to the TL.
  • vandemataramvandemataram Member Posts: 3
yes, i signed the deal couple of days ago with future dates on all papers as i was in a hurry, I got 3.9 for 60 months on TL, this is officially gonna be avilable starting thursday through the end of month. 4.9% is not that good of a deal. Again as other people posted 1.9% for 36 months is also true. This apr is being offered by American Honda Finance, so these promotions should be avilable in all dealerships, anything more the dealer says is bull. Outside financing isnt good, because with A+ credit i could manage 4.49 from eloan.com and that too for 36 months.
  • montyburnzmontyburnz Member Posts: 17
Do you recall if 48 months was at 3.9% or 2.9%? If it's 3.9%, is it really that much better than what they normally offer (I don't know what they normally offer). A 1% difference is going to be about a $500 difference in the long haul for me.

Just brought home my 2005 TL Pearl White / Parchment / Nav / 5-SPAuto last Friday eve. Not reached 200 miles yet, but I will soon...when I get the time to enjoy.
As I always say, "I hope the thrill last as long as the car payment"
Previously owned a 2000 Infiniti i30T, so there are areas where I will get to compare and see what 5 years and different OEMs bring to the table.
I like the handling so far, I gained 1" in footprint ( 7" to 8" wide tires). I went from 227 to 270HP, same 3.5....blah..blah..blah...
I like the "SportShift" alot.... and the "Style"...my first "White" car......

Glad you are all here to share your thoughts, information and points of view.
    What a country.......
    See yaa soon.....
    David....

I'm fairly certain the 48 months is also 3.99%. I'm trying to determine if the guy I'm buying from will be offering 0%, though - that's about a $50 difference a month to me. I know of one dealer in Florida that is.

    TTL = Tax + Title + License.

    Ksyrup,
Could you please let me know what you found out about the 0% financing in Fla and if so which dealer you have been talking to.Thanks very much.
  • levi1levi1 Member Posts: 21
What beacon score do you have to have to get this financing? Mine's around 750 and my husband's is around 720. Is that good enough?
  • ksyrupksyrup Member Posts: 11
The dealership that sent me the email is Acura of Orange Park (Jacksonville).

On the Beacon Score, I think I was told 720 or higher to qualify.

It sounds like they are 'buying down' the rate with a local lender...

IOW, you'll pay, one way or the other....

I spoke with Prohanka Acura (Northern Va) again today and they are not aware of any special financing. The guy told me that it's different in different parts of the country. Is this true? All they seem to be worried about is if I give them a score of 5 when the big wigs call me about the service I received.
  • ksyrupksyrup Member Posts: 11
I was told just the opposite. That any deals from Honda Financing are nationwide. What I posted above might not be through HF, but the 1.99%/3.99% is.

    Hi, David:

Post Christmas, I shopped both Clair in Walpole and Acura of Boston. Good experience, both were willing to sell me a non-nav auto TL at invoice (invoice incl. advertising fee). I ended up buying at A of B ($30,650 which I believe at the time was invoice plus we split the $200 ad fee) as, after some negotiation, they offered me a better trade on my Chrysler 300M. I really wanted to buy at Clair as that's where I did most of my DD, but the trade $ was significant (to me). At the time, Honda finance was offering 2.9% for up to 60 months which I took advantage of (48 months).

I haven't been in for service yet. A of B "doc fee" is about twice Clairs, but it includes "free" lifetime state inspections. Free, of couse, simply means I prepaid for the $29 tax...!

Keep us posted on your purchase process. Great car.

I've been shopping for a 6MT w/Nav Black/Ebony. My Albuquerque dealer (Montano Acura) has quoted a firm $34,721.73 for a car that's on the lot (Black/Quartz with accessories). This is hardly tempting given that Davis Acura just quoted me $33K without the accessories and I didn't even negotiate with Davis. At $34.7K Montano's not even throwing in any freebies or free oil change, etc. Moreover, they tell me its going to cost me an additional $400.00 if I want Black/Ebony since it has to be shipped from another dealer, so thats $35100. Here's what the quote was for, :

    TL w/Nav 6MT Black/Black
    Rear Wing spoiler
    Trunk tray
    Engine block heater
    All season mats
    Wheel locks
    Body side moldings
    Door edge trims
    Mud guards
    35% tint

He's charging about $900.00 just for the acessories. Also, I'm told by them that all the dealers purchase at invoice price and nobody ever gets a discount or holdback. According to Consumer Reports, Acura is giving a $1K holdback to all dealers in my neighborhood. The treatment I received when I went there was definitely excellent but their prices definitely don't seem to be..

If he'd at least offer me what Davis is (exclusing accessories) add on a few hundred, I'd probably buy it from him, but given that I can save a good $1.4K * tax * APR from Davis, I just cant let it go even if it means the pains of ordering it from another state. Those of you who have ordered your TLs from out of state dealers, I have a few questions for you:

    1. Approximately how much would shipping the car cost?
    2. What are the cons? I guess the pro is basically the price.
    3. I'm hoping to finance it for 5 years and if possible, grab the memorial day offer for 3.9%. Will purchasing it from another state affect this in any way?
    4. How do the taxes and registration costs apply when you make an out of state purchase of a car?

Thanks in advance for any input.

I am looking into buying aura TL auto with Nav this weekend. Whats the best deal on price I can get in chicago area???
Is torque steer really a problem as they mention in these reviews??. I am not a race driver!!!! I am looking for a luxury front wheel drive as it snows for 3 months in chicago.
    any suggestions???
  • aaarghaaargh Member Posts: 230
Torque steer isn't bad at all on the automatic. Only under heavy acceleration do you notice it, and then, it is managable.

TL is good in the snow IF you don't have the OEM Bridgestones. I bought snow tires here in Cleveland and it definitely helped.

Read back through this board. My recollection is Acura of Libertyville seems to be the most competitive.
  • levi1levi1 Member Posts: 21
Got this quote for an Acura TL non-navigation in Atlanta:

    $31,250 inlcluding protection package
$399 doc fee (all dealers here are pushing this)

Does this sound good or bad?
  • laurasdadalaurasdada Member Posts: 5,208
$399 sounds high for a doc fee (unless it includes more, e.g. registration fees?) at least compared to the Boston area. The two dealers I dealt with were $99 and $197. The $197 includes lifetime "free" state inspections at $29/year including a fee (tax!) right off the lot!

I second aaaargh's comment on the OEM Bridgestone EL42 tires in snow: VERY POOR, PROCEED WITH CAUTION!

    Anybody here Zaino? Advice?

Not sure if you saw my original post before they pulled it (I inadvertently left a phone number in the message. I took the contact info at the end out but didn't realize the # was also in the body of the email). Anyway, I can forward the email if you want. Or just call Acura of Orange Park in Jacksonville.
  • ksyrupksyrup Member Posts: 11
My deal in Jacksonville is for $30,600, for an abyss blue/quartz TL w/o nav, and includes wheel locks, trunk tray, splash guards, and moon roof visor. In addition, there is a $399 "delivery charge" and a $75 title handling fee, both of which I believe are permitted to be charged by FL law. Add on tax and transfer of tag, and I'm looking at $33,149 out the door.
  • davidg1davidg1 Member Posts: 8
dealer wants 399 for tire and wheel lifetime insurance against road damage without deduct he claims the tires are low profile and therefore more likely to have damage
also offered me a 3m product that goes on the car to prevent chipping etc wants 600 for that i usually avoid these dealer profit makers but am looking for feedback i am picking up the car at 11:00 a.m friday
  • lepfloridalepflorida Member Posts: 7
My price in South Florida was $32,225 plus $499 dealer fee. Out the door for just under $35,000. Plus there is 1.9% financing available for a beacon score of 720 or above if you choose to purchase it over 36 months.
  • kradogkradog Member Posts: 10
The financing is 1.9% for 36 months and 2.9 for 48. You can get 0% ( dealer buy down) but you lose discount. I am all set to buy from Jax.They have been very helpful and the process has been very smooth. Thanks for your your help.
  • tawneycattawneycat Member Posts: 114
    1.9 x 36
    2.9 x 48
    3.9 x60

I got 4.24 last week. Wish I had waited for the 2.9x48. Makes me a little peeved.Adds up very quickly in savings. but for 60 month deal not a big difference from exc credit financing elsewhere.

I still do not fully understand everything regarding leasing, but this forum helped a tremendous amount with buying/leasing so I wanted to post my experience:
    TL standard-No navi
    Blue/camel
    Cleveland, OH area
7% Sales tax paid UPFRONT in Ohio
    $2000 TOTAL out of pocket
    39 mos./36k miles
    Monthly payment of: 389.00

For the number gurus, I guess you guys can figure out what the actual cap cost on the car was.
I was pretty happy with this deal-had to work dealers for this price a lot-I was originally quoted in the mid fives about a month ago.
Also-for those interested I have successfully gotten the bluetooth operational (caller-ID and dialing) with a Windows based PDA Phone (XV-6600)-best of luck with that!

I just put a deposit down on a TL w/Nav at Napleton Acura in Elmhurst. The price was $33,300 and included the Protection Package and a free detail in the future. This price was competitive based on quotes I got from several other dealers.

Getting an auto w/Nav for less may be difficult since they are in short supply. I got a similar quote from Continental, Rizza and Woodfield (all within a couple of hundred $).

Libertyville was several hundred less ($32,600) but didn't have my color (they had lots of SSM/Quartz or Anthracite/Ebony). Morton Grove was a few hundred less but a much longer drive ($32,800).

I strongly suggest contacting the Internet Salesperson at Libertyville, Naplteon, & Continental. They were all excellent to deal with and responsive. No B/S to deal with supporting the theory that there are honest car salespeople.

Unfortunatley, part of my experience supported the opposite theory. I would avoid McGrath in Westmont. I echo the comments made on previous posts. They will claim to match your best deal, but they won't do it when its gets down to negotiating. Don't waste your time.

I booked a TL 6MT Black/Ebony yesterday. Montano Acura of Albuquerque gave me a good deal for the car and 35% tint for $33,455.
  • fcubefcube Member Posts: 11
My friend and I both took delivery last week of TL w/Nav from Chevy Chase Acura. Each of us paid $32,500 incl dest, plus $100 process fee, plus $235 for pro pak (wheel locks, flaps and trunk tray). Pohanka and Tisher were also competitive. Bargn_hntr did a little better at Pohanka also buying two cars but Pohanka wanted to charge $500 extra for black/ebony because it was a high demand color. Dealers in the Pittsburgh area all wanted at least a $1000 more so the drive was worth it. Thanks to all on this forum and especially to Bargn_hntr.

Just thought I'd give an update on our experience this weekend.

We just came back from what was the worst buying experience I've ever encountered. We drove a TL overnight from Acura of Columbus. We returned today to talk numbers. Based on what I've seen in this forum, I wasn't going to pay anything more than invoice ($30,500 was my target). We started off with something lower than that and were flatly told by the salesman that they would not sell a car "under invoice" because they wouldn't make any money. I then informed him that I knew the car didn't cost hiim $30,750 (his claimed invoce + dest). He bluntly replied that it did. I indicated that he was also making money on the financing, since we would finance through American Honda.. He discounted that statement as not applicable to their bottom line. We asked what they would sell it for, and he replied $500 over invoice ($31,250). I said we'd give him invoice and he yelled at us and said they weren't going to sell the car at that price, but he'd ask the sales manager, who happened to be sitting at another table working a deal, who (without getting up) yelled over to us that there was no way they were going to sell the car for invoice. The salesmen then walked away!

Long story short - I don't mind if they didn't want to sell us the car for $30,500. But to be treated that way, and in front of other customers is unexcusable. We won't ever be going back. I suggest for those who might visit the columbus dealers to be forewarned about Acura of Columbus.

Is there any way to provide feedback to Acura USA about our experience?

Just wanted to thank you all for the tips on this forum. I purchased my new '05 TL, non-nav, yesterday from a dealer in So. Cal, and it was a pleasant experience. No haggling at the dealership at all, and the salesperson was very nice. Total out the door price for my vehicle was $32.7K. Here's the breakdown:

    - Sale price: $30,197.00 (incl. destination fee)
    - Tax: $2192.XX
    - Doc: $45.00
    - Lic. fees: $265.75
    - Financed for 1.9% for 36 months.
  • depeche77depeche77 Member Posts: 4
Is Acura having any specials on Financing right now? I haven't seen anything advertised. 1.9% is a great rate.
  • tvenutvenu Member Posts: 1
Paid $31,500 + 750 for doc and title fees for an 2005 TL in Charlotte NC, you could go lower if you want, so you can pay for the $475 GAP insurance, which I think is important on new cars.

took me 3 minutes to program the bluetooth and hands free link and its amazing, the stereo is great also, going from a BMW 540i with 312 lbs/feet of torque to 238 lbs/ft of torque was hard but the BMW was not as high tech as the TL and is painfully costly to maintain.

Just love this car, amazing overall.

    Hi All,

What are the cons of buying from out of local area dealership? I am in MA but willing to travel and buy from dealers in NY/NJ since I've seen postings on this forum from members getting very good deals in that area.

But somewhat apprehensive because what if you have to go back to a dealership?

Or shall I just stay local?

Appreciate any comments and advice on my dilemma.

    xdc,
I got my TL from Glendale Acura. I negotiated the price with the Internet & Fleet manager on-line and scheduled an appointment with her to drive in and choose the color. It was very professional and cordial. :)
  • mink760mink760 Member Posts: 3
I'm not sure if the special finance offer is nationwide. I know a couple dealerships in Southern Cal are offering the 1.9%/2.9%/3.9% for 36/48/60 months, respectively. The dealership I bought from said the offer is good only until 1 June.
  • xdcxdc Member Posts: 12
    Mink:

Thank you very much! Sounds to me you got a good deal. I walked in Acura at Escondido yesterday. I looked for a TL w/ Navi, the negotiation started from $2500 (protection package incl.) above invoice and then $1800 (I still need to pay $300 for the protection package). I insisted that it is way beyond my expectation. After one more round of bargaining, the price was still $600 higher than yours (plus $2000 for the navi) but the talk became more difficult. I asked to leave. I did feel that there is a lit bit more room to bring the price down further.
Again, thank you very much and enjoy your new TL. I'll go back to dealer again next week.

BTW, 1.9%/36 mo. financial offer expired yesterday in San Diego area.

    Greetings,

I’m in the process of considering the purchase of a 05 TL. Best prices in my area are $31.5k no navigation and $33.5k with the navigation. Both of those prices include the protection package. I have a 99 300m, with very low mileage, the best the dealer will do is $9k on the trade. I also tried to sell the 300m and got an offer of $12.5k.

I would really appreciate your suggestions, should I go for the TL or not? Part of me feels although the 300m has very low mileage, it is still a 7 year old car. My other thought is keep the 300m; it still has a lot of life. Again, your comments are appreciated, and be kind! :)
  • canuck44canuck44 Member Posts: 4
First off, I appreciate everyone in here who posts their prices paid. I've been looking at buying a TL, for a while now and finally bought one, here in the Atlanta are. Y'all certainly helped me get what I thought was a reasonable deal. I bought the base TL, no navi, protection package, paint sealer (both of these items I felt might be a little on the bogus side), black with parchment interior, for $30,700, plus TTL, all of which brought the grand total to $32,674.95 (MSRP 32,600, Invoice was $30734 & about $500, for the paint protection). I felt the need to share, in here. The dealer I went to in Marietta, had 3 other identical cars to mine and about 20 other TL's on the lot. I also bought it on May 30th.

    Thanks again!

Just a thought, based on my neighbor buying a Honda, last week, too, that there seems to be a trend, that cars are being sold for under invoice, now. I know the car dealers need to and are still making money, but it is making me feel less comfortable, about the "Invoice" price now. Smoke & Mirrors?
  • canuck44canuck44 Member Posts: 4
Oooooppppps, sorry, the invoice was $33600, not $32600

    Hello, mytl:

I don't think you have to travel very far to get a good deal on a TL. It seems to me the Boston (forgive the assumption you're from eastern MA) market is very competitive. I bought at the beginning of the year, invoice pricing from both Clair in Walpole and Acura of Boston in Brighton, buying from A of B due to higher trade-in on my 300M.

Canuck44: 30,700 is a good deal. Although $500 for "paint sealant" would have been much better spent elsewhere (say ~$80 for Zaino system)... Even so, good deal. Congrats and enjoy your TL!

LOL!!! I agree on the paint ...... I didn't pay anything for that and I told the dealer I wouldn't. My total price was $30,700 + $1842 taxes + $106 in title, registration/license. But, I believe they still made money.
  • 32tlacura32tlacura Member Posts: 2
This forum was very helpful in my buying experience. This plus the Consumers Report car pricing guide for the Acura TL($12).

The price paid by tmp0404 in post #3522 is in line with what was offered at Acura of Larchmont in Westchester. According to them they move twice as cars as their closet competitor Curry.
Because of that volume I think, it allows them to be very competitive on price. Definitely include them on your short list if buying an Acura in the Westchester area in NY. I took the time to visit the dealership rather than calling on the phone. The buying experience(price, transaction, professionalism of staff, etc) was worthy of mention here. :)
