Can't say I know any dealerships in your neck of the woods but thought I would suggest an option that you could ponder over before you make a decision.
Several buyers in this forum have been extremely happy with their local dealer and these dealers have worked on an invoice plus $100-$500 over.
My salesperson (fleet Mgr. @ Titus-Will Ford, Tacoma WA.) sold me a truck for $300 over invoice. I believe Crazy Elvis and several others had the same luck (or better) in Florida @ Gator Ford.
It wouldn't hurt to E-mail other dealerships to find out what they can do for you if you're not getting anywhere locally. They can "DROP SHIP" your new truck right in the laps of the local dealership you're having the most trouble with.
My salesperson is Tunya ( pronounced Tonya )O. Hampton Johnson and her E-mail address is Fleetexec@Tituswill.com - She is very professional and customer focused. You would enjoy having a conversation with her even if you didn't buy. There have been no supprise add-ons after ordering. Several other people have taken my advice and are working with her now. Give it a try.
P.S. Just a note--- Please don't think I'm getting anything out of my recomendations. It's just that if I find something good or bad I have a tendency to share that information whether someone wants to hear it or not.
I also went through the calculations. Happy to see the 10-1/2 average. I would be interested to see some more pictures of your truck (i.e. - front and rear views). I want to see how the tires fill the wells width wise. Are there more pictures available on the internet? Or I can give you my e-mail address if you have more available to send me. Please respond.
I copied your picture for my wallpaper while I wait for my truck to come in.
you need to tone "it" down if you want to remain in this forum. nothing in this world is perfect (not even a perfectly round ball-bearing has ever been made) & we do hope you can come to an understanding with this fact. prior to your latest (scaled back) post I sent a message to the moderator to have you removed so hopefully (on your part) the responsible parties will read further.
as a final note: any forum has a diverse "set" of members in both lifestyle, thought processes, etc. & it is this same diversity that can aid in your overall understanding in regard to a particular subject. learn to respect the rights & opinions of all (even if they greatly disagree with your own... by posting publicly acceptable messages (with a "G" movie rating content)) & we'll all get along... okay?

Lawrence Hall in Anson (Just north of Abilene) will sell any Ford or Chevy (Two different dealers same owners) for $100 over invoice. They take orders over the phone. They have an 800 number but I don't have it on hand.
Lewac, We have the same build date as you, week of ll/22, we have had no change in our message in about 2 weeks. I sure would like to know if my truck got built this week. I picked up husky liners this weekend and a remote keyless entry and starter system. I look foward to the upcoming customizing.. Has anyone purchased the "Ford Shop manual" for the SD series of trucks? If so, is it any good? Thoughts on this would be appreciated.
Also has anyone installed driving or fog lights in the front grill in that space where the front license plate bracket is. This looks like a decent place interms of protecting the lights from being torn off but the spacing is a bit close.
I have some pictures scanned that I can send you. I'm not sure if I have any of the tube grill. My e-mail address is in my Edmund profile. Just click on the blue KEH4x4 to get it.
I can't help but noticing that I am not the only one waiting, impatiently, for my new 250, CC, Lariat, swb, psd 2wd. Like most of you, 12 long weeks. Ordered on 9/20/99 thru our local vendor that has a fleet plan where our ambulances are worked on. Got a P10 on the DORA(?) on 9/20. I called the automated VOPC 11/25 after great info on the site here. It says that I am locked and will build the week of 11/29 with delivery to Mississippi on 12/20. I have seen where people have been able to get theirs in 6 wks. This must be due to allocation. Not too many with the specs of mine ordered out of our dealer. Could have traveled 3 hours to get one but as they say, good things come to those who wait. Been super reading all of the posts: pro and con.
Hey, how about some of you folks that have taken delivery on those new Y2K V-10's posting your gas mileage?? I'm pleased with my 4x4 V-10 auto 3.73ls 148" but my mileage so far has only been around 11.0 (mixed) and I am a little disappointed based on some of the earlier posts here (although there's not much data to compare). Just want to make sure everything is running right. Also, I'm only on my 2nd tank so I expect things to get better in time.
I have ordered a truck and received the DORA. The DORA has a VIN on it. The dealer is not or will not give me a production schedule or ETA. I see referrals to VOPC and assume it can be utilized to check production schedules. How can I access this?
My brother has had a 2K F-350 Lariat CC LB Dually with PSD and auto for several months. He hauls horse trailers between midwest states and western states. He said he gets 1-1.5 MPG better at higher elevation than he gets on the lower midwest plains (loaded or unloaded).
He also says that his engine is down a quart of oil after 4k miles and down another quart at 5k miles. He says he normally changes it between 4-5k miles.
Brother has the 40-20-40 seats. The cover of the large console that folds down in the center is getting warped to where the passenger side of the cover curves up and no longer fits snug. Has anyone had that problem with it?
The diesels are the only way to go if you tow heavy regularly and they get 5-7 better mpg when running empty. However, don't expect to get big mpg numbers when towing. My dad is retired and does a lot of traveling. He has a 97 F-350 dually PSD with the 4.10 axle ratio. He averages 16mpg running empty, but most of his miles are towing. He tows a 35 foot high profile 5th wheel. Total combined weight of truck and camper loaded for a trip is around 18,500 pounds. He averages right at 10, with a high around 12 in ideal conditions on flat interstate hwy. He's put over 40,000 miles on the camper since he bought it a few years ago, most of it towing. In his many conversations with other RVers on the hwy, those figures are fairly consistent with what they are getting in their Dodge and Ford diesels, although the Cummins people tend to get a little better mpg running empty.
My dad's most recent trip this Fall was from Cleveland OH south to Myrtle Beach SC, north to Bangor Maine, south back to OH and then West to Seattle WA where the truck and trailer are currently stored. He averaged 9.5-10 on that trip.
The advantage of the diesel is it's ability to tow easier, especially up hills and at altitudes. There is a noticable difference between gas and diesel. The diesel will still get better mpg than the V-10 when towing, but don't expect 20mpg when you strap a big load on.
I'm looking for a F250 SD CC 4x4 in Houston, TX and can't find one. Not one. However, the lots are full of Excursions, 2x2s and 4x4s. Are SuperDuties that popular or is just a production thing?
I want a Ford SD but man, I don't want to wait 3 months for it! A!@#$%^&*!
Rnewman... right. we've been locked for about 3 weeks now for week of 11/22 build. please refresh your config. ours is lariat F350 DRW PSD SB CC 4X4 with the manual tranny. there was a message for a few days last week indicating some kind of problem with the psd so we thought that may be holding up people with that config. as week has come & gone with no change we're definitely kind-of wondering what is up.... & especially so if later build schedules (like this week of 11/29) get built b4 we do. will keep you posted on any change of status. we're also interested in obtaining the shop manual AND schematics ("wiring diagrams" as they're called in the automotive industry). tried Helm, Inc. but they indicate an OOS (Out of Stock or something to that effect). note that some diagrams are NOT available EXCEPT to dealers but this is not the case with the Ford SD's.
Jejauer... you need to read ALL the posts in this forum. early on there are many references to the vopc. IMPORTANT! do NOT talk with a "human being" at the vopc. only use the automated (computer) process as these posts indicate. as you already have the VIN, use it to track your vehicle status as it's a little more straightforward (once you get the VIN properly decoded... note that there is a post on how to do this (but if you can't find it I will re-post this process at your request)).
Lewac... just a question, how can you order a short bed and a dually? As far as I know (which isn't much) the DRW only come and have only come with a 8' box.
fonville & paul15 If ya'll hear of a good dealer in central Texas that will deal off of an actual invoice price please post 'em. The only one I've found with any invetory in stock is Grande Ford in S.A. but they think their stuff is gold and price accordinly ie: used '99s with 35,000 miles are more than Edmund's invoice price. All the dealers in Austin have no clue what a SD is. I have driven to Houston, Oklahoma, and New Mexico to look and as yet no luck, the main reason not enough for my trade.
Lewac, My truck order is for a F250SD CC 4x4 V10 lwb 3.73, still no change as of this morning except for the clearing of the holiday message. What really burns me up is that I sent a friend of mine to the dealer I've been working with back in september and he ordered a f350 sc with the psd. last week he got it. Here I am waiting since july 27. at least I have my vin#.
Any thoughts on the mounting positions for driving lites?
Finally got a build date, after ordering September 20th, and it is set for the week of December 20th. I'm a little worried that the holiday spirit may reduce the level of attention to detail that one would hope for in building a vehicle. Is this unreasonable? I'd hate to get the truck that came down the line right after the guy with the peppermint schnapps made his rounds!
Response #18 seems to provide the info I wanted. The DORA for my truck is dated 11/3 and the dealer said it had been pulled or picked 11/11. He told me that a print-out with the production date, ETA and even the rail car # should come within a week. It did not. I have called several times he tells me there is a problem with Ford's computer because of the holidays - Veterans Day and then Thanksgiving.
I have no reason to doubt him but if he has someone really hot for a truck like I ordered who is willing to pay more, hey, he might just sell him the one I ordered and reorder another one for me. It will be nice to be able to get independent confirmation of the order.
Thanks again for the response. If the info you have on contacting the VOPC is different from that in #18 I would appreciate your posting the corrections or e-mail them to me at jejauer@hotmail.com.
When I ordered my 99 dually, you couldn't get it with a shortbed. I asked Lewac about his order a couple of months ago, and he said that configuration is available for 00. I still would have ordered the long bed because I have a slide-in camper. The only short bed dually I've ever seen was a Chevy. Personally, I think all short beds look stumpy, but there are plenty of them on the road and I'm sure those owners think the long beds look way too long.
I'm kinda in the same boat you're in. I have a trade in, great shape but hi miles. The dealers in Austin deal in cars & not real knowledgeable in SD. I'm deciding between two dealers. One in San Saba & one in Georgetown. The folks in San Saba are as nice as could be. They have plenty of SD on the lot. They say... keys are on the seat, if you see one you like take it for ride. Very trusting folks. I have a parent of one of my soccer kids tell me they came and picked up his truck(in Austin) to fix some kind of noise. They are real upfront. He did say that I should sell my truck myself, cause I could get more than they could offer. The other place in Georgetown, talked of giving me more for my tradein... when we went inside to talk figures I asked about what would happen if I did not take delivery of the truck(for whatever reason, finances or dents). he said he is ORDERING THE TRUCK FOR ME... THEY REQUIRE A DEPOSIT...NON REFUNDABLE. Well, we disagreed on that and I left.
if you're looking in New Mexico, take a look at Rich Ford in ABQ; or better yet, e-mail John Fachko at richford@flash.net; don't know what he'd do on a trade, but he was very professional and understands how to deal with "internet-educated" folk; i.e., those who have done their homework on Edmunds, et al. Just ordered a 4x4 250 SD crew cab from him. Shopped around by e-mail and test drove trucks at all three ABQ ford dealers and the one in Santa Fe, and Rich Ford gave me the best deal and was the most helpful. They didn't have a whole lot in stock, but if you can stand to wait for an ordered truck, might be the way to go.
I ordered a '00 F250SD, 4x4, V-10, Lariat on 29OCT. Turns out the dealer ordered the truck in the wrong color (Harvest Gold Clearcoat Metallic versus Bright Amber Clearcoat Metallic. The truck is scheduled to be built this week (29NOV-03DEC), so it is too late to change it. Dealer says they'll reorder another one. What can I ask for on priority? I suppose there is no other choice but to start all over again. By the way, the dealer offered the 'wrong color' truck to me under invoice. I declined. Regards, RAy
Does anyone know how to tell the 99 V10 from the Y2K? I know there is more horse's and torque, but how does one actually know if you have the new engine? Are there any id tags, etc. that make the new engine stand out from the 99? I really would like a response/direction on this. Thanks.
My truck is built and has left via rail carrier, as of Nov 27. My VOPC message changed this morning. Also in specs I forgot that I have the automatic trans. newman..
I picked up my new 250/ps/cc/auto/4wd/lb/lariet last night. It was ordered on 9/30 made 10/30 delivered 11/29. Boy is it nice!!! I averaged 15.5 on the 35 mile trip home. I've read some of the complaints about interior/ride/etc. and I disagree with all of them. This is one nice truck. My coke did not even tip out of the holder. (I haven't gone 4-wheeling yet.) Good luck to the rest of you.
On the wrong color issue, try to get the dealer to toss in a bug shield or at least maybe give you a big discount on accessories. The mark-up on accessories is hefty, sometimes as much as 40%. The cost of accessories is something the dealer has direct control over and has a lot of latitude with before cutting into his actual cost. You're right not to take the truck if you don't like the color. A few hundred dollars today will be forgotten long before a color will grow on you.
I've only had a couple of drinks spill. It takes about a 90 degree turn at a faster than normal speed. You have to remember to put your hand on your drink when you do that. It's a weakness. I'm even a little concerned about the longevity of the holder if you are constantly pushing it in and pulling it out.
Just curious to see what tire pressures you all are running in your SDs. I'm currently running my 99 F250 CC no load with 55 front and back. Anyone who can give me a better handle on when and why to increase/decrease, please do so. Thanks
How long did it take for your beast to arrive at your Alaskan dealer once it was shipped?? I just checked VOPC for the first time, recording said truck (250 SD CC 4X4 SWB 5 spd V8) was shipped via rail on 11/10 and estimated to arrive at dealer week of 12/13. I assume it goes to Seattle via rail, boat to Anchorage, than trucked from there. Thanks in advance for any info!
Gtvrdik... the SB, DRW config is available for y2k (you can see that it is one of the configs listed on the edmunds site). Brutus indicated that it wasn't available last year, though. I also agree with Brutus, the thing does look kinda "stumpy" (probably because we're not accustomed to common observance of the CC SB combo) & would prefer the "traditional" look if we could have it "both ways". our primary usage is fiver towing, though & thus because we also ordered the CC we could "cheat" on the stability issue by also going with the shorter bed. why the short bed? primarily because it cuts 5 feet off the turning radius. we don't need the cubic footage in the box because it's not going to be carrying anything but a "cross-the-bed" fuel tank (the short bed only has a 29 gal fuel tank... another downside of that config) & the fiver hitch. frankly; you don't see many short beds because they defeat the purpose of primary usage for the vast majority of trucks out there... carrying lots-a-stuff in the bed. besides, NO one can honestly state that the short beds look better!
Rnewman... we still don't have indications of a build. but more than likely the thing has actually been built & the vopc hasn't gotten around to updating the status yet. we sure hope this is the case because we've ordered a psd (not the v10... which has more of an availability issue) & therefore the thing ought to have definitely been built by now. another indicator that it has been built is due to the "lock-in". they don't do that if the entire truck is not in inventory. will keep all posted... but very happy to hear that your long, long wait is about to end.
I like the short bed better. I think the long bed looks weird....but of coarse it is a matter of taste. Plus with the CC it looks even longer...weirder..... adubahbi.....I have the roll top cover...maybe I am the one who posted to you.....I like it a lot...only had it for almost 2 months....I park outside....and no problems so far. Getting cold down here in Fla.....gonna dip into the low 40's tonight.....Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!
I put the Roll-N-Lock cover on my y2k sd cc. It is the premium cover for roll tops. It's a little more cost than the others...but worth it. It locks in the 1/4, 1/2, and 3/4 positions. It also locks in four places when closed. It is all anodized aluminum construction. The box is only 9" x 9" in the head of the bed, so you still have a little room underneath. They are available in the natural (silver), or black. Guaranteed for life of the truck.
Just got in touch with my salesman, NYE Commercial Fleet manager. He confirmed that my truck should be in by 12/14 if not earlier. What a great Christmas present to myself. Guess I'd better get busy and sell the truck I'm driving now.
Your right on the number of Super Duties here in the frozen north. But, hey, these trucks were built for this state!! I ordered my F250 SD on 10/7, priority 12, and it was put on the rail car 11/13. Must have timed it right! Thanks again and enjoy dodging Subaru's!
"shotgun1" After you ordered your truck did the dealer give you a copy of the DORA? It should have had the captain's chairs listed on there, with everything else that was ordered. I know the DORA for my F-150 did. Looks like you both may have missed it. As for the scratch on the door, your salesperson might not have known it was there. He might not have even see the truck before he was delivering it. He probably was notified when it camein and had it PDI'd and cleaned up, and the lot boys that do the washing etc aren't going to bother telling someone about a scratch. I agree with "Crazy Elvis", you sure should have gotten more than an oil change or two. My two cents. Bob
Wow, I'm back from a week+ of vacation and I can't believe how many new posts there are. Anyway, my truck was "at the ramp" when I got back so I called the dealer. Monday (11/29) they said they would know Tuesday. Tuesday they called and said my truck wouldn't be in until next week. Since my peoplefirst.com loan check expires on Thursday (12/2) I called to have them void it and cut me a new one good for another 45 days. Today, 12/1, my dealer calls to tell me its in! Great - my truck is at the dealer and I'm waiting for my new loan check. For those of you looking for interest rates, peoplefirst.com is 7.24% (5 years). It might be lower with automatic deduction, I don't recall.
Meanwhile, the dealer is having my Line-X liner sprayed in and the bug-shield installed. Hopefully I'll be picking it up this Saturday (12/4). Order date 10/16. Built week of 11/8. F-350 XLT, PSD, 6SPD, SRW, 158 in., 4X4...
never saw the dora. Just asked for the info over the phone. I did, however, call the dealer one week after placing my order and one day before he placed it with Ford. At that time I went over all my options to make sure they were ordered correctly. A lot of good that did!!!!!! Oh well, turns out Steelhorse makes a nice leather 50/50 with console for the truck. ordered this week. should be here in 3 wks. Not cheap! Even with a 20% business to business discount it was $650 with shipping. It will take a lot more than 2 oil changes to make up that price! So yesterday I drop off the truck to be Rhino lined. The guy goes over it with a fine tooth comb. Says that's to cover his @#$. Wants to make sure there are no marks on the truck that I'm unaware of before he takes responsibility. What he finds is interesting. He showed me at least 5 hair like scratches that I had completely missed. No big deal, I mean these things were microscopic! He also shows me where the driver's door had been chipped and repainted while still at the factory. Anyway, I pick up the truck this morning. I look it all over with him, looks great. I get to work and that's when I notice a good nick up high between the bed and the cab. Looks like maybe his spray gun scraped it. Nothing I can do. I missed it when I was still at his place. I hate to be so nitpicky but this is my first new truck and I'd like it to be perfect for just a little while. Know what I mean? Here's a little info for everybody. I heard a noise up by the front wheels today. Went under to have a look. Found what appear to be hard plastic shipping shims wedged in front leaf springs on both sides. I think they're designed to stop movement of suspension during transport from factory. Black tape around them and big letters that say DISCARD! Never removed during prep. Had I done any serious off roading right away who knows what damage may have occurred!!! Well that's my story of the day.
still no build info from vopc! I'm going to give to Fri pm. if no changes by then will have dealer call voice vopc to find out what-n-hell's going on with the truck. the thing was supposed to have been built week 11/22 (which is of course, history) for deliver week of 12/6. sold existing truck & am giving it up 12/23... need our beast by then.
I feel for you. I went through something similar. I sold my Honda back in August when the dealer thought my SD 250 would be in for sept.. I've been driving my 78' f150 everyday. She doesn't have much left in her and I keep hoping that nothing breaks before the new beast shows up. She's been my spare vehicle for about 10 years now with only 400-500 miles per year, The past couple of months have seen 2500 miles. go baby go....hang in there.. I rechecked VOPC today. My truck is still on the rail car. no change.
Is the bug shield - Ford catalog - $70 Molded mud flaps - $33 a pair - total $66 worth the cost or are there better deals after market - any advice appreciated for the F350
2000 F250 XLT SC 4x2 5.4L 5sp 4.10LS + many options. current odometer=1500 miles so I'm still getting broke in..
Last few tanks gas mileage: 14.7mpg: mostly city and rural country where alot of time is spent on tight roads, hills, and some highway with 1000lbs of cargo in the bed.. Ok, this is mixed driving.. So far, this is the lowest mpg I've had.
15.8mpg: mostly highway (some hills in WV/VA/NC) with 1000lbs of cargo in the bed. Interesting enough, this is the highest mpg I've had..
Again, as far as power goes, I never have trouble keeping the speed at 55/65 or whatever the speed limit is, and have never had to shift out of OD on hills. I think the 4.10 rear end helps alot because the RPM's are kept in the 2000-2500 range when doing 50-70mph.. I don't do much large towing, so the 5.4 is working fine for me.
...the temperature is dropping her in centrall ILL, and along with it the y2k truck has developed some squeaks driving around town. I expected some squeaks as the weather got colder, has anybody else experienced this yet...for those of you not blessed to live in the SUN-BELT?? I have yet to exactly pin-point the location. Kind of hard to lean out window and drive the monster all at the same time. Shotgun1, I too had to remove those plastic holders, not sure why the dealer did not remove them. They are not all that easy to do either, by the time I got mine out...they were in a few pieces!! Like you, I had a RHINO liner sprayed in, and noticed 2-dimples in the tailgate when I got back along with some overspray they had missed on clean-up. Next morning a phone call, dimples removed, overspray cleaned up, no questions asked!! I would take it back and show the guy...I bet he would have it repaired at no problem. From your description, this dude is very customer focused and values your judgement of his product. Give it a shot.... Tom18, I do like the FORD molded flaps, match the gray cab steps/bed caps well....I also hear that HUSKY LINERS has a new super-duty flap out, the pictures look pretty good though. Bug shields are a little more difficult. Due to the way the SUPER-Hood is molded, it is tough to get a shield to fit just "perfect". I believe mine is a Weather-Tec, but will double check to make sure. With the bug shields, it will be a bit more difficult to get the hood open, but still worth it for the protection.
i just picked my 2000 ford f250 superduty v-10 auto short box lariet super cab. i now have around 680 miles and the power of this engine is amazing. i love the leather captain buckets. what a truck. way better than my 97 dodge i traded in. has any one seen a real nice topper for the super truck? and which spray in liner is best?
I feel your pain!! I would give ol' Ken a call and see what he can find out. Don't tell anyone...ha ha....but I called the VOPC and told them I was Ken when they had my truck mis-labeled at the "yard". I do not reccomend this to anyone though.<<<<<<my disclaimer>>>>>>>>>> Ya know...my truck has made a noise in the front end also....when I pull on to my street or into my driveway...the left front tire hits the drain curb and I hear this loud sort of click.....I think I'll get under and see if I have those discard doohickies still on mine. I only hear the click when turning left and hitting a small curb or a speed bump. Bugshields....I have a LUND shield....59.95 installed ....and it fits the front end perfectly.I priced them out on the internet and they were $55 plus shipping.....no brainer there...I took it in and had it done for $59. It is in the low to mid 30's here tonight... Its colder than a witches you know what!!!!!!!!!
Paul, the mpg of the truck with your combo has been pretty steadily reported at 11-12 city and 13.5-14.5 hwy. There have been some higher and some lower, but that seems to be the average. The mpg should continue to improve a little through the first several thousand miles. I get 9.5-10 in a mix of city/hwy and 11.5-12 hwy with my 99 F-350 dually 4x4 V-10 with the 4.30s. The duallys, 4x4 and 4.30s all cost me a couple mpg. The feedback I've heard with the 5.4L is 1-2 mpg better than a similarly equiped truck with the V-10.
I called VOPC early this morning to check on my truck. It is scheduled to be built this week with an ETA 12/20. Used the same numbers as before and was told the automated system was unable to give vehicle status - hold for a analyst (which I didn't). Anyone else having this problem? Hopefully I called during an update to the system. I will try again later today.
Has anyone had any problems with the arm rest/computer storage compartment that comes with the 40-20-40 seat. My brother has had a 2K SD with the 40-20-40 seat for over 4 months and has had a problem with the lid warping and turning up on the passenger side of the lid. It still latches but just doesn't look good.
2K 250 CC, V-10, auto, Lariat, 4x4, 3.73LS ordered 9/25, locked in to be built week of 12/6, with delivery to dealer week of 12/27.

GOOD LUCK!!!!
I copied your picture for my wallpaper while I wait for my truck to come in.
as a final note: any forum has a diverse "set" of members in both lifestyle, thought processes, etc. & it is this same diversity that can aid in your overall understanding in regard to a particular subject. learn to respect the rights & opinions of all (even if they greatly disagree with your own... by posting publicly acceptable messages (with a "G" movie rating content)) & we'll all get along... okay?
Several buyers in this forum have been extremely happy with their local dealer and these dealers have worked on an invoice plus $100-$500 over.
My salesperson (fleet Mgr. @ Titus-Will Ford, Tacoma WA.) sold me a truck for $300 over invoice. I believe Crazy Elvis and several others had the same luck (or better) in Florida @ Gator Ford.

Also has anyone installed driving or fog lights in the front grill in that space where the front license plate bracket is. This looks like a decent place interms of protecting the lights from being torn off but the spacing is a bit close.
Thanks... newman
I see referrals to VOPC and assume it can be utilized to check production schedules. How can I access this?
He also says that his engine is down a quart of oil after 4k miles and down another quart at 5k miles. He says he normally changes it between
4-5k miles.
Brother has the 40-20-40 seats. The cover of the large console that folds down in the center is getting warped to where the passenger side of the cover curves up and no longer fits snug. Has anyone had that problem with it?
My dad's most recent trip this Fall was from Cleveland OH south to Myrtle Beach SC, north to Bangor Maine, south back to OH and then West to Seattle WA where the truck and trailer are currently stored. He averaged 9.5-10 on that trip.
The advantage of the diesel is it's ability to tow easier, especially up hills and at altitudes. There is a noticable difference between gas and diesel. The diesel will still get better mpg than the V-10 when towing, but don't expect 20mpg when you strap a big load on.
I want a Ford SD but man, I don't want to wait 3 months for it! A!@#$%^&*!
Oh well, just venting.......

Jejauer... you need to read ALL the posts in this forum. early on there are many references to the vopc. IMPORTANT! do NOT talk with a "human being" at the vopc. only use the automated (computer) process as these posts indicate. as you already have the VIN, use it to track your vehicle status as it's a little more straightforward (once you get the VIN properly decoded... note that there is a post on how to do this (but if you can't find it I will re-post this process at your request)).
If ya'll hear of a good dealer in central Texas that will deal off of an actual invoice price please post 'em.
F250SD CC 4x4 V10 lwb 3.73, still no change as of this morning except for the clearing of the holiday message. What really burns me up is that I sent a friend of mine to the dealer I've been working with back in september and he ordered a f350 sc with the psd. last week he got it. Here I am waiting since july 27. at least I have my vin#.
Any thoughts on the mounting positions for driving lites?
newman....,
The DORA for my truck is dated 11/3 and the dealer said it had been pulled or picked 11/11.
Not sure What I'll do.
Good Luck.
Regards,
RAy
newman..
Boy is it nice!!! I averaged 15.5 on the 35 mile trip home. I've read some of the complaints about interior/ride/etc. and I disagree with all of them. This is one nice truck. My coke did not even tip out of the holder. (I haven't gone 4-wheeling yet.)
Good luck to the rest of you.
I've only had a couple of drinks spill. It takes about a 90 degree turn at a faster than normal speed. You have to remember to put your hand on your drink when you do that. It's a weakness. I'm even a little concerned about the longevity of the holder if you are constantly pushing it in and pulling it out.
Rnewman... we still don't have indications of a build. but more than likely the thing has actually been built & the vopc hasn't gotten around to updating the status yet. we sure hope this is the case because we've ordered a psd (not the v10... which has more of an availability issue) & therefore the thing ought to have definitely been built by now. another indicator that it has been built is due to the "lock-in". they don't do that if the entire truck is not in inventory. will keep all posted... but very happy to hear that your long, long wait is about to end.
Thanks
Without going to a cap, what other options are there to cover bed, lock, weather tight, and easy to open to carry large items when needed??
Thanks for input.
adubahbi.....I have the roll top cover...maybe I am the one who posted to you.....I like it a lot...only had it for almost 2 months....I park outside....and no problems so far.
Getting cold down here in Fla.....gonna dip into the low 40's tonight.....Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!
Your right on the number of Super Duties here in the frozen north. But, hey, these trucks were built for this state!! I ordered my F250 SD on 10/7, priority 12, and it was put on the rail car 11/13. Must have timed it right! Thanks again and enjoy dodging Subaru's!
After you ordered your truck did the dealer give you a copy of the DORA? It should have had the captain's chairs listed on there, with everything else that was ordered. I know the DORA for my F-150 did. Looks like you both may have missed it. As for the scratch on the door, your salesperson might not have known it was there. He might not have even see the truck before he was delivering it. He probably was notified when it camein and had it PDI'd and cleaned up, and the lot boys that do the washing etc aren't going to bother telling someone about a scratch. I agree with "Crazy Elvis", you sure should have gotten more than an oil change or two. My two cents.
Bob
Meanwhile, the dealer is having my Line-X liner sprayed in and the bug-shield installed. Hopefully I'll be picking it up this Saturday (12/4). Order date 10/16. Built week of 11/8. F-350 XLT, PSD, 6SPD, SRW, 158 in., 4X4...
Molded mud flaps - $33 a pair - total $66 worth the cost or are there better deals after market - any advice appreciated for the F350
Last few tanks gas mileage:
14.7mpg: mostly city and rural country where alot of time is spent on tight roads, hills, and some highway with 1000lbs of cargo in the bed..
Ya know...my truck has made a noise in the front end also....when I pull on to my street or into my driveway...the left front tire hits the drain curb and I hear this loud sort of click.....I think I'll get under and see if I have those discard doohickies still on mine.
2K 250 CC, V-10, auto, Lariat, 4x4, 3.73LS ordered 9/25, locked in to be built week of 12/6, with delivery to dealer week of 12/27.
