We don't have a Saturn dealership around here, so I cannot compare. But, I'd say I'm happy with my purchase.
Joe
When I asked about money factor/APR, they didn't have any information. Then I called Chrysler Financial and they wouldn't give me any info either. They said it was all through the dealer...
I'd be really curious to hear from some of those folks on this forum who are "in the know" in regard to the Tier 1 or Tier A (whatever it's called) money factor that Chrysler is using right now. Did I get the best deal at .00068?
entertainment package rebate $1,500
Adjusted MSRP $34,520
Rebate $2,500
Price after rebate $32,020
I paid $30,550
This was a Signature Series loaded with everything imagineable except the sunroof.
Thanks for your advice.
Which features did you get? Do you have nav, blue tooth, dual dvd, backup camera, etc? Could you please list your features? Sounds look a great deal.
Joe
Thanks!
The dealer was very happy to accomodate the code and didn't show even the slightest sign of grief when I told them that I had it. In addition to the $2500 cash back incentive, I also have another $750 off coupon that my wife got in the mail a couple weeks ago in some Dodge/Chrysler booklet.
They located the color we want at another dealer, so it will be here in a day or two ... SXT, Sunburst Orange, with the black side rails and crossbar (or roofrack as I call it).
I am a little leary of the price that they worked up though...
Here's what they put on the worksheet:
MSRP - 28,310
Friends code savings - 1,994
Cash back - 2,500
Coupon - 750
_________________________
TOTAL 23,066
I know that the MSRP they calculated is correct, but I think the friends code [preferred pricing (PP)] savings should be more.
I used the invoice prices here on Edmunds to calculate the PP (1% below invoice, or .99 X invoice) as follows:
MSRP INVOICE PP
SXT 27,140 24,855 24,606
Orange Paint 150 132 131
Roof Rack 250 220 218
Delivery 770 770 770
_________________________________________
TOTAL 28,310 25,977 25,725
28,310 - 25,725 = $2,585 .... Not the $1,994 saving they say is correct.
I will have to wait until the vehicle we are getting is at the lot so I can look at the invoice that comes with it to look at the PP price on it, but does anyone out there in the know (rmbalisa, tedebear, or whoever) know what the PP price should be with the options I gave?
Also I noticed that they didn't put the $75 PP processing fee on the invoice, but they put thier $100 dealer handling fee on it. Wifey didn't want me to b$%^tch & moan to them over $25. Should I keep quiet about it ... can they still add thier $100 fee on top of the $75 fee??
MSRP: $28,310
Preferred Price (Friends) Discount: $2,579
Cash Allowance: $2,500
Coupon: $750
Net Price: $22,481
The Preferred Price discount shown above is just an estimate from a utility I use on an employee website and the actual discount price will be shown on the invoice of the vehicle. In my experience the estimate is usually within $100 or so of the actual price.
Since you have a Friends discount code the dealer must show you the invoice if you request to see it. Look for the "PP" Preferred Pricing code on the sheet. That is the same as the Friends price before your $2,500 rebate and $750 coupon are further subtracted from it.
The only thing the dealer can add to the Friends price is up to $75 for a doc fee. There are no dealer prep, advertising, etc., fees involved. In some states the TTL is also paid at the dealer, so those would be legitimate charges. Any dealer add-ons, such as stripes or aftermarket tinted glass, would be an additional charge.
Since they are transferring the vehicle from another dealer they might be charging you $100 for that service.
Here's something I found about delivery fees in the program rules. The $770 delivery fee that is part of the original MSRP is already included in the Friends price. It doesn't really mention the word "transfer", so interpret it however you want to.
The participant may not be charged for any preparation fees, delivery and handling charges, service or overhead fees, or any other such delivery fees under this Program. Documentation fees are allowable under the respective governing State in which the vehicle is titled. Documentation fees may not exceed those normally charged on any other sales transaction.
The complete list of program rules: Dealer Rules and Provisions
Sticker $27955
-2500 Rebate
-750 Coupon from chrysler
-2495 Dealer Discount
Total = $22210
Total discounts were $5745. You should be able to get the same ($28310-$5745=$22565) Doesn't the friends discount come right from Chrysler and if so you should be able to do better than my $5745 in discounts? You would still be doing okay at 23066 considering that according to edmunds that most buyers are only seeing about 4250 in total discounts on the GC's. Its your $500 or theirs though and it may as well go in your pocket.
The thing that I am still puzzled about is that now the dealer has the $75 admin fee in the paperwork PLUS the $100 dealer processing fee. Can they do that? My wife doesn't want me to make waves, but on page 2 of the program rules under the "PREFERRED PRICE" heading, last paragraph it says "The participant may not be charged for any preparation fees, delivery and handling charges, service or overhead fees, or any other such delivery fees under this program." ... Now I interpret that as they can't charge me the $100 because I consider the 'processing' fee as a handling fee or a preparation fee, but hey, I could be wrong .... So just wondering what you think. I know that you had mentioned in your last reply to me that they may be charging me the $100 to transfer the car to the dealer, but the rules say they can't charge any delivery fees.
I'm wondering if you'd be willing to look up that Friends price on the model I just purchased... I'm curious if I would have been able to get a better deal... I have the signature series T&C, inferno red and block heater. No additional options.
The reason I ask is because my dealership is one of those "best price in the window" dealerships and I've purchased my last three new vehicles from this same salesman. Well, one week later, they have a big "sale" - which they've never done before - and the same model as mine is on "sale" for about $300 less. I'm seriously thinking about going back to him and making a fuss. Any advice?
Yes, I said that the rules do not mention the word transfer and that you could interpret that part of it however you wish.
I'm not sure if the wording in the rules is there so the dealer cannot add a delivery fee in addition to the one that is already included on the window sticker that we all have to pay, whether it's across the country or across town from the plant where it was made.
If you want to call and ask if a transfer fee can be added to the Friends price you can call the Employee Advantage hotline at (800) 756-2886 during normal business hours.
Here's what I came up with:
MSRP: $32,760
Friends Discount: $3,092
Cash Allowance: $2,500
Net Price: $27,168
Took delivery last night of our 2008 GC SXT, Sunburst Orange, only option was the roofrack.
Here's the breakdown:
MSRP=27140 + 150 (Sunburst Orange) + 250 (roofrack) + 770 (delivery) = 28310
PP (Family & Friends price) = $26240
PP Admin Fee = $75
Dealer Processing Fee= $100
MD Sales Tax= $1584.90
MD MVA Fees= $274
Dodge/Chrysler Rebate= -$2500
Dodge/Chrysler Coupon= -$750
___________________________________
TOTAL= $25023.90
I didn't feel like b@^%^tching about the $100 dealer processing fee for such a small amount, even though when I called the hotline for the Chrysler Advantage Family & Friends program, they told me that dealers can't charge a processing fee.
Since I got it at the PP price, I got a copy of the dealer invoice. Now I know why both you and I were calculating the PP price wrong. I got approximately the same price that you did - $25,725.
But my invoice has some other items on it:
$25 for Chrysler Owner Loyalty Mail
$14 for 5 additional gallons of gas
$210 for Washington Metro - PPA/EB-PF
$280 for Washington Metro DAA
Edmunds doesn't have these things on their listings when they show invoice price. What in the world are all of these additions??? I live in Baltimore, MD, but the vehicle came from a dealer that is about 2/3 of the way between Baltimore & DC. Do they charge regional prices too? And where the H is my 5 extra gallons of gas that I didn't get? What, were they supposed to give it to me in a gas can or something?
They didn't give you a big red 5 gallon plastic container full of fuel? Go back and demand yours!
Seriously, the extra 5 gallons is a factory fill item. When the vehicle is going down the assembly line the production operator presses a certain button for regular fill or another one that dispenses an extra 5 gallons of gas, depending on the code that pops up on the screen when the vehicle gets to his/her station. There's even another one for diesel fuel.
If your tank wasn't full it might be due to driving it around because of the transfer from another dealer. If you go back and mention it I'm sure the dealer would top it off..
I don't know about all those other codes. You might try a Google search and see what it finds.
Thanks in advance!
Thx, I'll try the googling the other codes.
But if you still want to know, then let me know and I'll send you a PM.
Send it to me too. I thought Chrysler was making all their dealerships convert to the multiple brand platforms (Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep) and, except for Tator's somewhere on the east coast, I didn't think there were any single brand dealerships left.
The $25 YDH Chrysler Owner Loyalty mail fee, I have no idea what it is.
The $14 YGE 5 Additional Gallons of Gas fee - This is BS ... They claim that you get a free tank of gas, but in actuality, they charge you for the first 5 gallons. I found other Dodge/Chrysler vehicles where they charge you for the first 7 gallons.
The $210 B05 Washington Metro - PPA/EB-PF fee & $280 T05 Washington Metro DAA fee are both some kind of regional advertising fees that Chrysler charges the dealer.
So just be aware that when Edmunds, KBB, Consumer Reports, or any other online service gives the dealer invoice of a vehicle, that doesn't include these other BS fees.

the msrp says: 31180
the sale price they are giving us is: 29617
and the with rebates: the sale price is 26911
this does not seem like a very good deal???? we say they need to come down off the sticker price of 29617, but they wont..they say it is as low as they can go??? I do not believe this when I see peopel getting thousenads off of MSRP....he is a young kid that does not know much and whenever I ask questions he has to go ask the "other guy" getting sick of this!!!!!
also the quote is then 409.70/mo w 1000 down.
this si for 12000miles/36 months
the money factor is .00148 (but this is a quote for top tier) I have ready top tier should be .00077???
also the residual they stated is 15,960
this includes 700 acquisition fee and he "thinks" no security deposit..lol
tell me what all you think of this...ps this is the dealership that everyone raves about but I am thinking no????
do I go onto the next chrysler lot?? or keep haggling w them?
as for the money factor, i have it at 0.00154 for 36 month leases with a residual of 50% (for 12k/yr). The only vehicle i see that has the 0.00077 money factor is the Aspen.
have you ever thought about getting the signature series T&C? it has the entertainment group (free of charge) and a lot of better goodies (MYGIG, heated seats, remote start, window shades, sliding console, TPMS, Backup Camera, & EVIC) for not that much more than what you would be paying for a touring with entertainment....just a thought.
MSRP: $31,180
Friends Discount: $2,889
Cash Allowance: $2,500
Net Price: $25,791
Ask him if he will lease it to you at the Friends price without having to go through the paperwork of processing a Friends control number.
The Friends price can be found on the invoice. Look for the "PP" (Preferred Pricing) code on the sheet. That price includes everything except TTL and up to $75 for a doc fee. Your $2,500 rebate or any additional price incentives are further subtracted from that price.
The discount price shown above is just an estimate. The actual Friends price will be shown on the invoice sheet. Discount prices vary by region.
I bet I'm not real popular with the sales people around here.
MSRP - 32,995
Friends Discount - 2,588
Customer Rebate - 3,000
Additional Haggle Rebate - 617
After all discounts - $26,790
Total Savings - $6,205
Is this a good deal or is there still more room to wiggle?
:confuse: That's a new one.
You're saving nearly 19% off the MSRP. It looks like a decent deal to me. I'm sure other prospective buyers will want to know more about the haggle rebate thing.
I feel good about the deal I got, but because you gave me a F&F code this made the vehicle very affordable for us, especially with the new one on the way in 7 weeks. This will be girl #2, we needed a lot of room and options
So I really want to say thank you tedebear for the code, you are a life saver!
We really only need the power 1st and 2sd row windows, locks, and sliding doors.
We want the dark cloth and not the leather. Looking for an OTD price.
Thanks in advance.

The equipment you mentioned is already included in the SXT package. Here are a few prices to get you started.
MSRP (2008 GC SXT): $27,910
Friends Discount: $2,527
Rebate: $2,500
Net Price: $22,883
If you can find a $750 coupon that was mentioned in the previous message take an additional $750 off the net price.
I remember somebody here said that Chrysler mailed it out to random people who fit some kind of profile I guess. So I guess that's how my wife got one in the mail. And I remember it was specifically for the GC or a T&C only ... no other Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep vehicles. But I do remember that it was good thru July 7th.
I'm new to this board. My wife and I are considering buying either the Odyssey or the T&C Touring edition. Right now, we are leaning towards the T&C because of the gadgets that comes with the car. How does one get the Friends discounts? Would really help us save money. Are there any other rebates/discounts we can use besides the current $2.5K Chrysler promotion?
Thank you in advance!

tiger, the price is ok. the friends price is $27,138. i've seen plenty of people get near the friends price without the code.
The only problem with that price is that this is not a swivel and go which the wife really wants.
I was hoping we can get the swivel and go with the 25L package for under $27K minus the $2.5K discount.
