I have a question on the lease calculation, and sorry for this massive post.... Through my work I am eligible for the deal where I can get a Ram truck at 1% under invoice, along with still getting the rebates and incentives. I went into a dealership and was given a price breakdown(not as detailed as I wanted though), but it was basically as follows:
MSRP: $52,535 Savings: $5,063 (invoice -1%) Rebate: $5,000 Selling Price: $47,472 Cash at signing $797.00 ~$295 plate and misc PA fees Monthly: $502.50 Including 10% PA tax charged on each monthly payment, ~$457 pretax
Now, when I plug these numbers into the formula to calculate my price, I come up with drastically different numbers. Is the '$5,000' rebate they are quoting me supposed to come off of the Net cap? I can't seem to find a way to come out to their exact numbers. If I do not include anything on the 'rebate' I come out to $549.86/month, and if I do, it comes to $368($405.44 w/ tax).
I was told it would be about $33/month cheaper to do a 39 over 36 month lease, but I don't see the numbers for 39 month listed here for July, so I'm using the MF and residual off 36 month. Either way, I couldn't get these to get near their price on 36 month either.
3 yr lease/10k miles Model: Laramie Crew Cab 4x4 Term: 39 Money Factor: 0.00062 Residual Rate: 58% MSRP: $52,535.00 Price Paid: $47,472.00 ($5,063, invoice -1%) Rebate: -$5,000 Acquisition Fee $595 Net cap $43,067 Residual Value: $30,470.80 Depreciation $12,597 (Net Cap-Residual)
They also gave me numbers for a big horn, and they come out exactly as I would expect, taking out the $3k that they listed for a rebate on it. The Bighorn was listed at $2k lower MSRP, $1k lower invoice, but $3k rebate instead of $5k rebate of the laramie, meaning I would think the bighorn should be more, since I am financing 1k more money?
Any advice is greatly appreciated, I'm very confused by what the dealer is giving me versus what comes out calculated by the numbers. Thanks!

1) You must have a typo, or you grabbed the wrong number. Using $43067 as the adjusted CAP results in depreciation of $349.91/mo for 36 months. $45.59 is correct for the finance charges. So, $395.50+tax = $435/mo.
2) Did the dealer give you the adjusted/net CAP, or are you calculating that number yourself? Did the dealer say this was a Chrysler Capital lease and give you the MF and residual, or are you assuming those numbers from our information?
3) That big $5000 rebate makes me think this is an independent bank lease. The other thing that points that way is the CC lease is not very good for 39 months, and the payment would go up, rather than down.
Appears that you and the dealer may be working with two different sets of numbers.

I confirm the .00062 and 58% for Laramie CC 4x4. You don't want a 39 month lease; those numbers are not competitive.
For the Big Horn, the numbers are .00016 and 59%.
You'll have to ask the dealer whether the $5000 rebate is in addition to the discount from sticker.
I don't know what calculator you are using, but when I use $52,535 as the MSRP and $47,472 as the adjusted cap cost, I get a payment of $573/mo with 10% tax added in.
I would ask the dealer for the adjusted cap cost, and how they arrive at that number from the negotiated selling price. That should reveal any discrepancies in the math.

I came out to the $405 w/ tax by using 39 months, but from your guys info it looks like this would have been with a 3rd party bank. I figured this was through Chrysler because of a few comments he made when chatting, but he may have just been talking in general, or something.
I was calculating the net cap, they don't have that specifically listed on the paperwork they gave me
I came out to the $549 number by using 39 month with the same numbers for 36, which it sounds is completely inaccurate, but I was basically grasping at straws to see where they came up with these numbers, but again it does look like they gave these based on a 3rd party bank.
I'll have to get more info on how they apply that rebate, and get a more detailed breakdown of the numbers.
Can I ask that they go through Chrysler Capital instead, or do certain dealers tend to go with a 3rd party instead?
Again, thank you both for your help, this has made looking for a car lease so much better having the additional info on how this all works!

The reason they go with the 3rd party bank is that big rebate. You don't get that rebate if they go through Chrysler Capital. Even though the 3rd party lease may have worse numbers, it might result in a lower payment, because of the rebate. You can certainly ask them to figure the numbers both ways. But, either way they do it, ask them to disclose the actual lease numbers, cap cost, etc.
Well this stay the same while trying to lease. Dealer couldn't give me a straight answer, just said come in. I just don't want to drive 2 hours to be disappointed. Any thoughts?

It's likely that some of those incentives are only for purchase, not a lease. Not worth the drive to find out the dealer is stringing you along.
Could you provide RV and MF for 36/12 & 15 for 2016 crew cab in both the Big Horn and the Laramie Trim. I am in Wisconsin. Thanks for all of your help on this site, knowledge is power.

I am working a deal right now on a 36 month 12k miles per year lease of a CC 5.7 4x4 Express with a few options that comes out to an MSRP of $45,870. Located in Boston, MA area. Dealer is knocking price down to just under invoice to $43,000. Then providing incentives of $7,250 to go with a non-Chrysler bank for the lease. Ally I believe. I have a trade-in they are offering $2,500 for to get the net cap cost down pretty low, $33,250. The residual is 59% so around $27k. My calculations show the depreciation cost should be around $175 per month. Add in $15 or so for sales tax. The killer is the interest. They are saying the monthly payment is $399. This means the interest is over 8%, money factor of .0034. Does this sound accurate? Interest seems awfully high. My credit isn't great, mid 600's but I have a co-signer at 800 available. Will this make a deal possible? I want to be in the $250 per month range. 2% interest I could deal with. Begrudgingly. Just seeing if I am being reasonable.

I don't have the ALLY numbers, but if your credit is below 700, that MF does not surprise me. Still, a cheap payment for a $46K MSRP truck.

looking for the August rates on a 2016 Ram 1500 Single Cab Sport. 24/12 or 36/12. Thanks for the help!! located in CA if that helps.
Standard MF (around .00200) and 57% / 50%
Wow, those numbers aren't as great as I thought they would be. Do the quad/crew cabs have better numbers on the sport model? Or is it just the sport models that are no good; wondering if I should go w/ a express or big horn . Ideally I would like to keep my payments in the 300's, assuming Tier 1 credit. Would also like to keep it at 12K per year.

I'm in 37411, dealer I'm talking to is in 47130 if that makes a difference.
I assume MFs as stated here normally are for Tier 1? Do you have the MF for the next Tier?

Could I get current lease numbers for 3 year 12k per year for Kansas City area? 1500, crew, 4x4 and V-8. Interested in BigHorn, Rebel and Sport model.
Do residual numbers change to the worse the later you get into the model year? With the 2017 models coming out would it be better to wait for them?
Thanks for your time.
Rebel: .00012 MF and 57% residual
Sport: .00017 MF and 55% residual
End of year numbers are hard to predict. Just depends on where they want to put their marketing dollars.
Lease program is pretty good right now on the 2016s.
