    Hi,

I have the following figures on a 2016 BMW X5.

    MSRP $61,895/-
    Selling Price $57,200/-
    Residual 58%
    MF 0.00130
Term 36 months & 10k Miles per year
    Sales Tax 7%

    Reg Fee $304.50
    Bank Fee $925.00
    DOC Fee $389.00
    Other Fees $6.00
    Supplemental Titling Fee $247.58

Could you tell me how much I should be paying monthly if I roll in the sales tax to cap cost?

And secondly do all the fees look correct?

    Thank you,
    Stark

What state is this? Not all states collect the tax up front.

  • This is NJ.
  • I think I was wording it wrong, the sales tax will not be paid upfront. I asked them to make it part of the monthly payment.

Right ... NJ taxes the sum of the payments, and you can choose to pay it upfront or add it to the cap cost. You are choosing the latter.

  • Did the RS change for 36/10k from September to October? Was't it 58% for 10k and 57% for 12k?

And is the "Supplemental Titling Fee" is a valid fee in NJ?

I can see they did markup $200/- on my lease on bank fees ($925 vs $725), the X5 is still in production so I didn't sign the lease yet. Only paid a deposit of $1000. I will be signing it some where this month. Should I try to talk to them about October deals & bank fee or is it too late now?

  • The dealership is saying its $247.58, I'm not sure how they calculated it based on cap cost.
  • Looks like the "Lease Price" (The capitalized cost as stated in the agreement between a lessor and a lessee.) has to be over $45,000 for them to charge for the Supplemental Titling Fee. Am I reading this right? And my cap cost is way below that.

Your CAP cost is below $45K on an X5 or X6? That seems unlikely.

Your linked document says it also applies to vehicles with MPG ratings below 19.

thanks very much - so to be clear, you're saying that there are now $3,000 in manufacturer incentives? I'm negotiating with a dealer right now and am looking at the following:

    MSRP: $81,620
    Invoice (using Edmunds numbers): $75,480

I'm asking for buy-rate financing, and offering $750 over invoice (we'll see...). After whatever negotiated price is agreed, the dealer should then subtract $3,000 off the net cap cost, correct?

Also, I'm doing a special order. On my last lease (2013 X5) I got very close to the above deal. The dealer is now telling me that special orders come in with a higher invoice (same story I'm hearing from the MB dealer on a GLE coupe). Can you see any scenario where that's true? Seems like a dubious claim to me.

Yep, get your best deal, then subtract the incentives.

I'm not aware of special ordered vehicles having a different price structure that those cars already on the lot.

Half of that applies only if you already have a BMW (loyalty credit).

And, you're likely to get a bigger discount from sticker on the 2015's .. dealers want to move them off the lots.

That's true. I got a really got deal from the first dealer I talked to. Almost 17% but they marked up the MF so I was pissed and wanted to get the car with the color I want better. But it is the 16 and I'm sure I will not get as much as 17%

Would appreciate any insight on below:

    2016 X6 AWD 4 DR xDrive35
first month payment, 925 acquisition fee and $4200.00 in 7 security deposits. NJ Tax, title, license, registration and dealer fees are additional fees due at signing

    MSRP $70,795
Discount: $11,800 (not sure if manufacture incentives are included)
    Cap reduction: $0
    Residual for 36/12K: $41,061.10
    Money Factor is .00083

Based on the info, what is monthly payment ballpark and what should I be asking?

  • Quick question guys, hypothetical situation, so I'm presented with this:
    2016 X6M

    Neg. Price: 105019
    Down payment: 30000
    Sales Tax: 6%
    Residual: 60911 (58%)
    MF: 0.00131 (standard)
    N: 36
    Monthly: 604.15

OK, so, for the DOWN PAYMENT, I'm going to do the money factor lease. If I have already have a set number in mind that I want to deposit, which far exceeds what the monthly payment will be (like around 25k-30k), can I split that up in 7 MSD payments? Is there a monetary cap of how much I can place down? Can I just place down that much and they can treat that as a MSD? Or do they just mean that up to the first 7 payments there's cap of how many rate reductions you can receive, and any deposit after that they can treat as a MSD but won't offer any benefits like MF reduction?

Is there a limit to the size of money limit on each MSD? If not, then is this plausible?
