How far a drive is it? I would consider going and getting it myself and driving it back home, and maybe even get a better deal. Negotiate with the dealer that has the car you want.

    Hello all,

I am getting ready to go in and negotiate a final price on 2006 RAV4 base 4cylinder 2WD with following options:

    -Classic Silver metallic
    -Roof Rails
    -Side and curtain airbags
    -Daytime Running Lights
    -Security system Upgrade
    -Cargo cover with cargo nets
    -Extra Mile Package A :
Pinstripes, floormats, extended tire warranty (up to
6yr/75K miles), Fabric protectant sealant, chrome exhaust
tip, Roadside Assistance (3yr/36K miles), first aid kit,
    rear bumper guard

MSRP is around $23,175 (including destination)

Dealership's first offer is $21,995, which I think is pretty high. Honda dealership down the street is selling a 2wd Honda Pilot LX for $22K ($6K off the MSRP)! I personally think that they can do better by at least another $1000 from the original offer. Am I crazy or does that sound about right...dealership claims that $21995 is invoice plus $200 dealer profit. Any advices would be appreciated. Maybe I should wait a few months before RAV 4 supply gets more plentiful.

    Thanks

Edmund's invoice shows $20,388 for that car - excluding security system upgrade, pinstripes, extended tire warranty , fabric protectant sealant, chrome exhaust
tip, roadside Assistance, first aid kit or rear bumper guard in that price. Doesn't seem that all of that would cost them close to $1500. I guess it just depends how much you want the RAV. Remember though that the Pilot gets a lot less MPG.

I bought a base Rav4 with 4wd a little over a month ago. I have been averaging 28-29 mpg with 30% city and 70% hwy driving. I live in Colorado so I can't help you with the price in Connecticut. So far I am very happy with my purchase. :)

    I got a quote for 2006 RAV4 base 4cylinder 2WD with following options:

    -Roof Rack
    -Side and curtain airbags
    -Daytime Running Lights
    -floormats,
    -17" Styled Steel Wheel
    -Tonneau Cover

    for $20,950 -$400 graduate rebate = $20,550

    EDMUNDS MSPR$22,274 Invoice $20,484 TMV $21,721

    is this good? thanks
  • saabskisaabski Member Posts: 61
That's a good price. Which dealer did you get this quote from? I am willing to drive up to 5 hours to get one if necessary.

$21,990 + tax and tags for a base RAV 4X4 with mats, roof rack, bumper applique, hatch cover, bars and net set, daytime running lights and optional airbags. These options are typical in our area. No trade involved though I was offered a fair price. I think this was a great price perhaps becuase of prior purchases I made there. They said to feel free to send customers their way but could not guaranty that price to others. Fitz Mall had the car for about $400 more. Perhaps prices are falling. My point is the price for 4 X 2 mentioned earlier may be high unless the pinstripe, fabric protectore etc add up to a lot. I spent about $20 on S100 wax and a can of scotch guard. I do plan on buying a few of thise dollar first aid kits, some extra bandages, perhaps some water etc and making my onw emergency kit...figure it could cost $15 id I went all out. I'll store it under the hatch in one of those nice bins out of the way.

I have had a order in for a Rav 4 V6 Limited for over a month now and no car. The salesman now says they are making very few of them. Is this true? They do have a 4WD limited that came in priced at $33,500. Who needs 4WD in South Florida? Now they say it is also sold. I am thinking of giving up and buying something else. Just really liked the way the Rav 4 V6 drove. All of you that have one are very lucky.
  • andrelaplumeandrelaplume Member Posts: 934
how about a 4 X 2 4 cylinder limited. I saw one at a dealership here in PA, they must be making them! Personally the 4 banger is more than peppy enough and likely will save you $$$$.
  • lirlir Member Posts: 81
    Bonaples,

Also consider the V4 (they may have more), it has lots of pep - unless you need the V6 for towing. $33,500 sounds insane. I bought my Limited (2 wheel drive/4 cylinder) with curtain side airbags, JBL stereo system, moon roof, carpet/floor mats, extra for blizzard pearl color for $23,600.
  • jimd4jimd4 Member Posts: 877
Well 180 miles is not unusual as they trade cars. The selection is limited it seems so if you want and find one through a dealer, you probably should not worry about the miles if he can get if for you. 99,000 miles from now you will not remember the 180.
  • jimd4jimd4 Member Posts: 877
not a chance, someone one is fibbing!
  • jimd4jimd4 Member Posts: 877
Pilot drives like a truck and gets poor MPG...amost 5000# That is why they give so much off, they are over the hill with present gas prices.
  • jimd4jimd4 Member Posts: 877
Well best I can tell only about 2.5% or so of RAV4s are V6 Limited. But that price is absurd. Look at www.fitzmall.com to get an idea on price. Worst case you fly there and drive it home and save $4000!!!-gas and toll.
  • jimd4jimd4 Member Posts: 877
Very nice price! Good luck with it
  • automotoautomoto Member Posts: 5
The dealer told me the new 2006 Rav4 they have is around 15+ mileage. Is this normal? What's your Rav4 mileage when you pick up the car?? :confuse:
  • lirlir Member Posts: 81
Mine had 71 miles because it had been test-driven a lot (only Limited on the lot). They all will usually have some miles, but 15 is good, pretty low.
  • blueravbluerav Member Posts: 12
10 miles for me. As lir said, it depends on which model you are looking for. Mine is a base 4x4, not so rare.

    I'm going to buy 2006 RAV4 base 4cylinder 2WD with following options:

    -Roof Rack
    -Daytime Running Lights
    -floormats,
    -17" Styled Steel Wheel

I live in NY state, 8% tax. What's the proper out of door (ODT) price? I'm a new graduate from university. I plan to pay $21,000, everything included (tax,title,license,doc,etc.). If I want to pay by cash with full amount, one time pay, can I get any discount? Is $21,000 a possible price?

A dealer wants $21,800. Should I buy it with this price? Thanks a lot for your suggestions!

Been having a heck of a time in the Portland, OR area trying to get a V6 LTD 4X2 or 4X4 for less than $30K. I know other parts of the country are selling this car for around $28K, but the dealers here won't budge. This is beside the fact that our area seems to get 1-2 V6 LTDs with leather every quarter, and they're already spoken for. Plus, they're giving me 120 days to order in what I want... I've never had such a hard time trying to buy a car in my life! :(

I'd be willing to drive to Seattle or even to N. CA if I can get what I want without such a hassle. Does anyone have any advice for me? Would it be better to wait a couple of months and see if inventories come up?

    Thanks,

    JD

    Hello,

I'm just started the test driving process and got a couple of quotes:

RAV4: $21,100...standard, only side curtain airbags and moonroof as options

CRV SE: $21,000...no extra options, comes standard with side curtain airbags, moonroof, leather, heated seats and mirrors, 6 cd changer, floor mats, 4WD, LoJack pre-installed. They even let me take it home for the night to think about it.

I felt the CRV was a better deal, but could be wrong as it'll be redesigned for next year. Really like the RAV, though. All prices are before any fees, taxes, etc. I'm looking to buy mid-July at the latest. I'm located in MA and both dealerships were on Route 1 in the Norwood area. Any thoughts/suggestions welcome. Thanks.

    -Tonneau Cover

    for $20,950 -$400 graduate rebate = $20,550 +TTL

you don' have -Side and curtain airbags and -Tonneau Cover which can minus around $750.

That's a great price for the CRV-they wanted 24,300 here in CA. But, if I were you, i'd wait and see what changes the CRV will have next year, that way you can feel better about your decision. I love my RAV, got a great deal on it, just a little disappointed on the MPG so far.
  • jeffworkjeffwork Member Posts: 20
$21,000 for a CRV-SE?? That's about $3,000 under invoice. Unless there is something else going on, that would be a spectacular deal.
  • spacewagonspacewagon Member Posts: 16
    thank you greg!

what is TTL? normally how much is TTL? I'm a new graduate from university, but dealer says i have to finance 5k loan from toyota to be able to get 400 graduate rebate, is that correct?

this dealer is offering 21,500$ OTD-out of door price, everything includes (8% NY tax, doc, title, plate, etc.)

it is a silver 2wd,has following options
    -50 FE
    -Roof Rack
    -Daytime Running Lights
    -floormats
    -17" Styled Steel Wheel
    -mud guard
    -2 poles and net

it only has 16 miles. Told it is just unloaded yesterday. should i take it now? Thanks a lot for your suggestions!
  • greg36greg36 Member Posts: 6
    TTL is tax tag....
yes, you have to finance to get the rebate, but you can pay off earlier.

the price is good, may still have $100-200 room left. good luck.
  • spacewagonspacewagon Member Posts: 16
    Thanks for suggestions!

Bought it today, everything included (tax, doc, plate...), $21,500, without taking College Graduate Program $400 rebate. if I take 5k finance to get this Graduate Rebate, I can get out of door price at $21,100.

Dealer says I may get some money mail back because they estimated more registration fee (writen 140$, but may actually be only 50$).

drove 150 miles to pick it up. 30 mpg first try. A nice car! very smooth, like silk.

My friend goes with me to pick it up. During the waiting time, he is discussing with my dealer to get exactly the same deal with trade in of his 2004 Accord.

Good news! We were able to finally pick up the new car (not the one with 180 miles on it) and we are loving it! :shades:

Don't try Seattle. I had to go south since I couldn't get anyone here (and Tacoma) to come down.
I had luck at Russ Auto in Beaverton. Talk to the Internet Sales person, she was very pleasant to deal with.
  • mandrillmandrill Member Posts: 7
how much did you pay OTD finally?

Has anybody gotten a reasonable deal from any dealers in Northern California?
    How about using Costco?
  • luvmbootyluvmbooty Member Posts: 271
I faxed a 15 different dealers looking for V6, 4x2, 3rd row seat, Curtain and side airbags, and DR Lights with Nautical Blue ext. and ash int. One called me and said the 4x2s don't come with third row or airbags, only the 4x4. Is this true? I figure with my options and 4x4 a good price should run around 24,500. Any comments?

Yup Rav4 Limited is really hard to get. Especially if you want silver. Since there is a shortage on the supply, you really can't pick any color. Therefore, I end up with a black one.

I had no choice but buying a V6 AWD. Your price of $33,500 is too high. It is good that you didn't get it. My with package B and other options is $26,000.

    Some suggestions for Rav4 buyers:
1)don't try to go to the biggest car dealer in town. In most cases, they have so much customers wanting a Rav4 and they don't care if they sell it to you or not
2)Try to go on weekdays instead of weekend. Because they make less sells on weekdays, they will work more on the price to increase the number of weekday sells.
3)Ask the car dealer for a blue print of the car. This includes everything on the car plus options. Take the printout and shop around. The car dealer would lower their price before you even open your mouth.

Well, feel free to message me if you need help or suggestions.

What dealer did you get it from in Milwaukee?

    We're in wisconsin too.

Yes, please. I'm driving from the Madison area to Milwaukee this Friday to look and would love a dealer recommendation.

Deal sounds good but I believe the invoice price is more like $21,453 if you check....I paid 21.9K for mine in PA plus tx & tags. It looks like he got the car a wee bit under invoice....perhaps they were deparate to move a car...

For same config as I posted above.

Heiser Toyota offered RAV4 with same options for 21,300 (Barcelona Red color)

Does anyone has any suggestions for a good dealer in PA? I'm in the North Pittsburgh area and I have contacted a few deals so far who are not willing to budge below sticker for a Rav4 limited w/leather & heated seats.
  • fastfingers2fastfingers2 Member Posts: 1
    I just ordered a 2007 RAV4 V6 4x4 in Wisconsin. I ordered the limited with:

leather, heated seats, JBL, moonroof, side airbags, tow prep package, mudguards, towing receiver hitch and got it for 28,500.

Now we'll see how long it takes. I was told by the dealer it could take up to three months.
Limited models are pretty non-existent up here so I finally decided to order one.

Hi all, I posted my message earlier but can't find it. My question is How much would be the extended warranty 7 years 75,000 wear and tear. I end up buying one but feel its a bit too high. cost me 40/ month for five years. by the way gap insurance is included to that price.

    Thanks,

I know this sounds crazy. Is there such thing cancelling the car you order? although I already signed contract but haven't pick up the car yet. I found out on the paperworks when I got home the salesman cheated. The money that I'm supposed to save they added it to the total price which I did not catch it and I trusted them but so much for that. He over charged me close to 400.00 I am really mad that I would like to cancel that order. Please help.

  • lirlir Member Posts: 81
You can change your mind as long as you haven't driven the car off the lot. Did you have to put down a deposit to order? The extra $400 might be to transport the car from another dealer or advertising fees. Either way they are too high, and should have told you beforehand. If they have already transported the car, then you might be out that deposit, find out for sure. But I would call them ASAP.
  • flo64flo64 Member Posts: 8
No did not put anything down but I applied a loan trough them and it was approved and signed it, I feel so stupid. I did not think they would do that to me. Or can I tell the salesman to redo the paperwork or I will use my own bank to finance my car? So stressful.

    Thanks again.
