Since I have gain much from this forum, I will give as much I as could to repay back.
Bought my RAV4 2WD Limited I4 in Houston at $500 below invoice including the $500 rebate. 23.8k + TTL. Included special color "Blizzard Pearl", Sound Shield, Carpet, DRL and Molded Dash Applique.
I'm happy to say that I'm a proud owner of my new RAV4.
By the way what were the extra charges(TTL etc) that you ended up paying.
2008 Rav4 4X4 V6 Limited:
MSRP: $ 31,361.00
Invoice: $ 28,596.00 (they told me they would sell it at this invoice cost)
Rebate: $ 1,000.00
Final Selling Price: $ 30,600.00 plus tax and license.
Based on the included options below, is this a good deal? I inputted all of this in the various Edmunds calculators, and it looked like a fair price. Just wanted to get the thoughts of others. Thanks!
OPTIONS INCLUDED
-Leather seats
-Heated seats
-JBL stereo system
-Daytime running lights
-Mud guards
-Moonroof
-Tow Prep Pkg
By the way, the Sports trim I am referring to includes the mandatory option as in Toyota.com (although on Edmunds, it is really an option). Are dealers being dishonest on this?
Thanks for your comments!
I live further east than you but I got a quote for a similarly optioned Rav4 w/o the mudguards for a little under $25,000, not the OTD price. I think you could do better. These type of cars aren't selling too well with current fuel prices. The new 2009 models are also around the corner. Given these circumstances, I think you have more room to negotiate. Good luck.
You can eaily get $3,000 off MSRP, check the newspaper and you can get it at $28,361. I live at South Bay.

After spamming almost 20 dealers and negotiating with about 5 of them, I got this quote:
Silver 2008 Rav4 4X4 V6 Limited
EJ - JBL stereo system
HD - heated seats
LA - leather
RL - day-time running lights
SR - moonroof
TO - tow prep package
Sales price after $1000 rebate = $26,665
Price OTD = $29,291.83
Supposedly, they gave me a price that was $200+ BELOW invoice (and according to Edmunds, this seems true). This was after I told them that I would be financing the car through my own credit union + cash down. The only catch was that they told me I need to make the purchase before the end of this weekend (like most of the other dealers). Seems good to me, and I was able to get 2 other quotes within $100 of this.
Thanks for your help!
4x4 LTD V6 $24,632
Freight $745
LA Leather Seats $840
SR Moon Roof $720
EJ Radio $480
HD Heated Seats $352
TO Tow Prep $128
RL Running Lights $32
TOTAL $27,929.00
I bought the very same car back in March for $28,254 (about $300 over invoice and NO REBATE) which was a good deal at the time. What a difference 5 months makes!
Thanks,
art

Oh, don't buy the Extended Care warranty from the dealer you buy the car from - shop around. I was quoted $1600 for the 7yr/75Mile Platinum warranty and found that I can buy it for under $600 from Jerry at Call Jerry at http://www.midwestsuperstore.com/
Base RAV4, 4 cyl, 4x4, silver, 3rd row, DRL, styled steel wheels, 6 cd changer, floor mats, rear bumper applique, mud guards, and roof rack.
$22,500 plus TTL
no incentive available at the time.
Chicago IL
Thanks
right now the 2008 RAV4s are selling at "invoice" plus a $1000 rebate.
this is a very good price, but comparably-equipped (6-cyl) 2008 Nissan Xterras seem like a slightly better value.
the Xterras are selling at ~$1000 below "invoice" plus a $3000 rebate -- effectively ~$3000 less than the RAV4s.
i know these two SUVs are not totally apples to apples, including the RAV4 getting ~$600 better gas mileage than the Xterra each year, but still $3000 is a big difference.
I'm know that if Toyota increased the RAV 4 rebate to $2000 i'd buy the RAV4 over the Xterra.
Thanks for all help and comments.
-moonroof
-6 CD (non-JBL)
-floormats
-tow prep
-tonneau cover
-rear bumper applique
-hitch wiring / harness (no tow hitch)
= $27,200 OTD (including TTL)
I am searching for a RAV4 with Third row and most of the toyota dealers are offering 400-500 above invoice. What's your experience, should I bargain to get below invoice or just force them to come to invoice price.
Thanks in advance
I have been reading thru the posts looking for anyone who has purchased in the SW Florida area ?
I think I am going to Ft Meyers to buy ,instead of Naples. I need a rav4 with a factory tow pkg . I can wait until sept or later.
Anyone here from this area with any price quotes I can compare my needs too.
Thanks !
:shades:
if you try to configure at the toyota webite you can't get the 3rd row and leather (or the 3rd row and Base)
I live in SE Florida and from my experience, the price in Naples/Ft Meyers was fairly close to the stuff in SE Florida. I would include SE Florida in your bids to give you more wiggle room when talking about pricing. Besides, if you can get $1,000 off here, it might be worth the drive. Worst case you have a good number to work with
He says the Limited come loaded with JBL 6 Cd radio, heated seats, Tow hitch prep, leather interior , large wheels ,climate control ,sunroof. Anything mssing ? and is this a good price. He said he does not have the car but he can get it in a reasonable time .
To me this is just a starting point
Any info, advice would be appreciated . I asked for Black with Ash interior
TIA
Imean this in the nicest possible way:
If you do not know the difference between MSRP and Invoice, you need to have a friend or family member help you with buying the car, otherwise you can easily pay thousands more than you should.
In the meantime read the articles on this website and others about tips for buying new.
best.
I didn't realize it was such a difficult question to field, and after running 6 business for 30 years I just figured one of you guys could give me a quick answer.
Maybe someone could be more succint in their answer?
Not only that, you didnt tell me what you thought about the price I mentioned . After all the acronyms,
I'm wondering if anyone out there has recently purchased a loaded rav4 with an MSRP of 31,184 in the Chicago area. It has leather, moonroof, heated seats, 6cd, etc. What price did you get?
So far, the best quote I have received is 27,481. I have been frustrated because the dealer claims that the invoice price is 27,070 before any options are added on. So how does the consumer know what the actual invoice price is? Do you go by the national base price of the vehicle or do you go by the invoice price after options are added. I'm not sure if this price is the best I can get or not. I tried to get them to offer me the SUV for 26000, they acted as if there was no way they would come down to that price.
Thanks for the advice!
What can i do? Exchange another car? Ask for some compensation?
Really need your guide and advice.
My e-mail is kirsten308333@hotmail.com.
Looking forward to your information.
If you are in Ohio, you definitely signed an odometer disclosure statement, in all that paperwork.. So, claiming you didn't know about the mileage until after delivery would be a hard case to make..
IMO, 235 miles is really no big deal.. but, that's just my opinion..

$28,6120 on a MSRP of $30,400 . So your deal looks a lot better , but someone more knowledgeable should step in and help us both . I am in the New York city area and searched New Jersey also
thank you for your information.
can you tell me the 235 miles is the test driver miles or the delivery mile of the car?
Look at your window sticker.. Is your dealer's name on the sticker, or some other dealer? If it's some other dealer, then they probably traded for your car, and the car was probably driven to your dealer... You can figure the difference, and see what is attributable to the swap..
If it has your dealer's name on the sticker, then those are either test-drive miles, loaner car miles, or a salesperson using the car for his personal transportation.. I'm not sure it really matters which one (or, even how you'd find out) ... It's only 235 miles...
