Looking for a 2011 X5 35d with the below stuff in Houston:

    tech
    premium
    ipod
    running boards

What should be my drive out price?
  • jefft788jefft788 Member Posts: 5
I've just ordered one this pasted weekend. $1,000 over invoice before put the Eco and Holiday credits ($6,000). a little uncomfort for $600 MACO and Ad fees included into the invoice which was above my expectation. people said that fee is charged by BMW on dealers. there is additional $720 doc and DMV fee. probalby Cal is more expensive ?

    Hi,
I am in the SF bay area looking for an X5 premium. Can you please let me know which dealer you bought yours from? One dealer told me if I custom build one I won't get the $2500 credit as the car wont be delivered before the end of February. They were pushing me to buy one off their lot saying that was the only way to get the credit. Is there any truth in it.

    Thanks.
  • jefft788jefft788 Member Posts: 5
that is not true. I ordered x5 35D (costum build) and expect to arrive early Feb. I got all $2,500 Holiday credit and $3,500 Eco credit. I ordered it from Pleasanton dealer. the rep's name is Steven Kong. He would remember if you mention me (Mr. Tang who just bought a x5 35D).
  • smuggymbasmuggymba Member Posts: 35
Mr. Tang - May I ask how much u paid drive out?
  • kackikacki Member Posts: 18
I have been considering this option but one dealer said it's simply a no-go. Another said it's possible but the build time could (he actually said would) exceed 8 weeks which would put you outside the 60-day financing window (BMW finance can lock in your approval for 60 days). He said at times a car may roll off the assembly line on day x but not be ready for delivery until day x+20 or x+30.

This would make me nervous about the situation. Of course you could always refuse delivery and get your money back, but then you have lost out on a good deal. And you would certainly lose the government credit of $1800.

BTW can anyone say definitively that the 1800 comes to you on your taxes regardless of income? This money is part of my figuring so I'd like to know if it's a more or less guaranteed deal.

    What's the Invoice Price of X5 35d?

I plan to offer 500 over the invoice to a local dealer here in houston and see. My question is what's the invoice price? Does it include the 850 destination fee?

I have looked at edmunds but would like to know from the owners on the true invoice price (without the options)? Edmunds say's the invoice is 47,665 and destination is 850....so should I offer 47,665+850 + 500 + Other Fees + Taxes?

How much are the other fees etc?
  • kackikacki Member Posts: 18
I bought it after getting him down some $700 and making sure the rebates came off the right areas (ECO before taxes, Holiday after tax). It annoys me that the dealer doc fee is there in the first place, then annoys me more that they tax you on it. Basically this is proof it is profit and NOT a service. Somebody should set up a class action against all dealers who use this (that may be ALL dealers).

By my figuring I paid about $2K over invoice. Yes that is high but if I had waited I would have lost the govt credit which is almost the same figure, and might have lost one or both rebates and still had to pay $1k or so profit. Sometimes you gotta recognize the game and decide whether to play it or not. Diesels are very scarce right now and very few dealers are interested in giving them away, at least with some 6 days or so still to go. Maybe on the very last day you might find a steal, IF you could find a car at all. At my good-sized dealership, this was the last diesel. It was also among the last 3 or 4 in the area; I saw the dealer locator pages for myself.

I want to add that the dealership was AMAZINGLY busy. I don't know how busy they normally are but every salesman was occupied with making deals. Recession? What recession?

I also talked to at least 3 customers and they were all ecstatic about their Beemers (being existing owners there to refresh their rides). This is NOT what I have experienced being a prior Mercedes owner... but then I haven't set foot in an MB dealership since the warranty expired either.

Can someone tell me what the dealer costs should be on a 2011 X5d with the Cold Weather Package, Premium Package, Rear Climate Package, and Technology Package? Or should I use the base model dealer cost and then add the actual amounts to that of the packages to get their true costs? And so I understand it, once I have that number, I should expect about $500-1000 over that and then subtract the $3500 Eco credit and then the $2500 financing option?

    Y'day I bought x5d on invoice price.

Hi, the 1800 tax credit on the x5 DIESEL that I've read from other forums ONLY applies if you take delivery before 12/31/2010 to claim on your 2010 taxes. People have checked with their accountants. DO NOT TRUST your sales person b/c they MAY tell you yes, but in reality it doesn't matter to them b/c you are the one on the hook.

I read bimmerfest.com and xbimmer.com and they tend to have some good advice there as well.

    Good luck.

With no posts in two weeks, is this implying that X5 sales are down, good deals have vanished, or the people who are likely to post here are done for a while? I assume all incentives have expired?
  • Christian_JChristian_J Member Posts: 12
Talking to some dealerships it seems that late Dec was really busy. There are only so many buyers to go around so its probably slow for sales right now.

(also posted on 5 series form - sorry for duplication but invovles both models) On 1/3 I worked with a bmw center and placed a financing application with BMWFS to lock in holiday credits, etc. A few days later we agreed upon the car to be ordered and the selling price. All was good and I was treated fairly. I did not sign a sales order -- only a credit app -- and did not put any money down. I now just had a change of mind and want to order a different model BMW (roughly similar MSRP). I know I will have buyer's remorse if I stick with the original. Estimated deliver for the one I had spec'd was end of Feb so it's still early in the process. I plan on calling the dealer on Monday to work through this. Can anyone give me any advice, words of encouragement, etc. on how to handle this process but not get taken advantage of in the process. I know I'm not the first person to change their mind and it's just two week's into the deal but I want to be fair to all involved. Specifically I want a discount from MSRP and I want fair lease terms. I'd previously qualified for the holiday cash -- would that still hold true if I changed to another model BMW even though my app was filed on time with BMWFS? It's probably not the end of the world if I don't get the holiday cash because of the inflated lease rates to cover that -- but regardless would be interested in anyone's advice. Thank you

If putting in the finance app locked in rates and residuals, and you didn't even order until a few days later... then, it shouldn't be that big of a deal to order a different BMW..

But (and this is a big but), did you order an X5, and now want to order a 5-series? X5s come out of SC, and can easily be sourced before your locked rates run out (end of February). If you want to order a 5-series, you only have six weeks.... probably won't make it.

Either way, you should contact your dealer tomorrow... There is no point in taking a car you don't want.... regardless of the terms.

Thanks for the info. Yes - I know 5's come from Europe and have an 8-12 week lead time which is fine as my ppresent lease runs out 3/17 so I should be right on the money time wise. I ran the numbers (the Jan MF vs. the higher Dec. MF+holiday cash) and the difference is within abut $200 so I should be ok either way but nonetheless appreciate your guidance.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,543
I'm not worried about your current lease running out... I'm worried about the lock on the holiday cash lease deals..

It's not a rolling lock.. If you go past the end of February, you don't get to choose between January, February or March (losing December). You only get March.

In other words, you have no assurance at all on your lease rates.. (some West Coast locations have 90-day locks.. in that case, never mind..lol)

Of course, if you are happy with the January deals, then you can probably re-lock, when you order a different car... but, you'll have to make that decision then..

Thanks. That makes perfect sense. Also, do you happen to know how multiple security deposits work? I have heard you can buy down the money factor this way. How much does it reduce the money factor and how much is each security deposit? Thanks
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,543
.00007 for each SD...max of 7 SDs... for, total MF discount of .00049

The MSDs are the same as any security deposit. The payment rounded up to the next $50 increment. So, if your payment is $699, then 7 MSDs would be $4900.

Kyfdx - you have been very helpful. One last question -- if I do multiple security deposits, is the security deposit the monthly payment before or after tax? Thank you.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,543
It's after tax... the actual payment, rounded up to the next $50 increment.

Kyfdx -- once again need your sage advice. Before I headed down the path of MSDs, dealer had quoted a mf of .00175 for a 535/36 mo/15k. They agreed to waive the security deposit and not penalize me on the MF. I am trying to close the deal and want to put down 7 MSDs. They are now showing the MF at .00126 (that's correct) but are showing amount due at delivery of the 7 MSDs PLUS the first security deposit (which was previously waived). I told them that's not correct. What is the prop way to calculate this. In my calculaiton, it's the .00126 MF with the 7 msd's due at delivery (plus registration, etc.) but not an additional security deposit. Thoughts? Thanks.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,543
    Okay.. refresh my memory..

Are you a current BMWFS customer? If not, the only way they can waive that first security deposit, is to add .00015 to the MF. That's not a good deal.

If you aren't a current BMWFS customer, you'll have to make that first security deposit to get the lowest rate...

    regards,

Am not a current customer (did two leases previously) but every dealer I have talked to agreed to waive the .00015 (w approved credit - which I had). Now that I want to do the msd, the dealer is telling me to put in the first security deposit plus the seven others.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,543
I've never heard of a dealer being able to waive the 1st deposit, without the MF bump... I'm sure plenty of dealers are willing to waive it, because most of them won't disclose MFs, anyway... and, the customer doesn't even know he is being bumped..

So.. I don't think the dealer is screwing you.. possibly mis-stated what they could do in the first place...

    Hope that helps!

    KYFDX:

I'm looking for advice on the following deal:

    2011 - X5 Diesel
    Cold Weather
    Premium
    Rear Climate
    Active Ventilation
    Sport Activity
    Technology
    Smart Phone
    Sirius
    Running Boards

    Invoice w/ Options: $60,455

    Dealer Price: $61,125

Should I get an Eco-credit on top of this? or is this a good deal?

    Thanks,

    J
  • dlebarondlebaron Member Posts: 6
Not sure if thats a good deal, I ordered one and paid 6K under invoice and received the 1900 tax credit. I worked with Josh Howell at 1 click auto brokers.
  • kackikacki Member Posts: 18
If this price has the Eco credit going to the dealer (ie already built in) then it is NOT a good deal. Essentially he is making the whole 3500 plus the nearly 700 which is the diff between invoice and selling price. You should aim for a 'pure' figure of between $1000 and $1500 over invoice, THEN subtract the 3500. Of course, if you can get him lower, more power to you, this is just what would seem to be a fair deal.

    Hi all.

I've used this board numerous times when purchasing a new BMW in SoCal. Unfortunately, now I live in less saturated area and the bargaining leverage is much worse!

At any rate, I finally got a dealer to agree to the following deal on a 2011 X5d with:
    Premium
    Tech
    Cold Weather
    Smart Phone
    Roof Rails
    Premium Sound
    All-weather Mats

    MSRP: $61,899, Invoice: $56,934
    Dealer Price: $58,025
Dealer Price Minus Eco Credit: $54,525

So basically I'm paying ~$1,000 over invoice, then subtract the eco credit.

I'm pretty happy with this price. What do you guys think?

shj2, based on the quote I received, I suspect that you should be able to do better... Your car is about ~$4K more expensive than the one I ordered, and you're paying $6,500 more. You should have another $2.5-3K to work with; basically the price of the eco credit.
  • vonraussvonrauss Member Posts: 25
Forgot to mention, this is a order. Dealer had an X5d in their allowance already; getting it customized to my specs. Should arrive in 3-4 weeks.

I could have probably saved another $500-700 or so, but it was worth paying extra to get the car one month sooner!!

I am planning on ordering a 2011 335d, and want to take advantage of the eco credit.

It will be ordered from Germany.

Here is what I've been quoted by the dealer:

"The pricing would be 800 over invoice minus Eco credit (if available). The additonal fees are 1.25 tire tax, 15 title fee and 150 doc fee."

Does this seem fair, if the eco credit is $3500?

    Thank you!

Hi, I am still looking at purchasing a 2011 BMW X5 sport or premium. I was looking to see what type of stereo comes standard in the suv versus the premium. Does any one know the brand of the stereo sytem or has additional information?
    Thanks!

Seems like a good deal. Some have been paying 500 over, some pay 1000 over, and some pay even more.

The base stereo is NOT very good but some have reported it improves with some usage. Whether this is one's ears adjusting or the speakers etc breaking in is not clear. Not sure who makes it. There are 4 mid-range drivers, one in each door. They do NOT have tweeters! (I *think* there is a single woofer somewhere too. (Don't call it a subwoofer, that is a different animal))..

Not familiar with the upgrade stereo. If this were important to me I'd talk to some good aftermarket installers first, then probably buy the base stereo and get it upgraded. You need to figure out your costs though. I may be doing my own (speakers-only) upgrades in the summer but haven't figured it all out yet.

Are you able to listen to each of these at your dealership?

I have frequently visited this board since last Fall and what I have learned here was a great help with my purchasing process. I went ahead with an order of a 2011 35d on Jan 3, the last day of BMW's holiday sales event. In the spirit of sharing with other prospective buyers, here are the details of the deal:

    2011 35d with following packages/options:
    ZCW ZPP ZPS ZRC ZTP
    running boards
    roof rails
    heated rear seats
    smartphone integration

MSRP (including $875 destination charge): $63375

Final price: $54000 (after $3500 eco credit + $2500 holiday credit, plus 0.9% finance for 3 years)

This was a simple purchase, no trade-in involved. Negotiation was quite short. I basically went to the dealership two hours before it closed, and only a few people were there (It was a Monday just after the very busy holidays). Based on what I have read here, it was probably not a great deal with perhaps the room for negotiating down 1-1.5k more. However, with the holiday credit scheduled to expire the next day, I took the deal any way.

The car is scheduled to be delivered at the end of this month.
