Dealer quoted my $397 plus tax for the auto dim mirror. You can buy it on line for less than $200 at www.mazdastuff.com or go to www.mitocorp.com/nvsmirro.htm - they sell the same mirror and have on line installation instructions.

I did not like the stock mirror - but IMO $397 is a major rip off. I went to Ford parts department and bought a rear view mirror for the Mustang - only cost me $21.00 plus tax. Still has the manual dim but overall a much better mirror - I can now move the mirror up closer to the roof - so it does not block my view of the road.

BTW - the Mustang mirror is a perfect fit on the stock Mazda bracket.

Might get a # 3 Hatch if it does have any Zoom,Zoom, drive a Type S now ,but high test 91 to 93 octanne prices are killing me.

Im still taking my time over this new-car purchase, and things are starting to pick up. My local (NC) Mazda dealership is advertising:

    '04 Mazda6 $1500 factory rebate + $1500 dealer rebate + 10yr/100,000mi Mazda warranty.

    '04 Mazda3 $1500 factory rebate + 3.9% financing.

Let's see what they do next month!
  • ish2lish2l Member Posts: 19
are these rebates specific to your local dealer...I looked up mazdausa.com and edmunds incentives but couldn't find any such rebates. Those would be really nice, as my car is supposed to be delivered by end of March or early April.
  • webby1webby1 Member Posts: 209
I assume this is for 48 month lease....I looked at the Sport GT today and was quoted 71 % residual for 24 months lease. That is extremely high and sounds great but when the monthly numbers were crunched the monthly payment were 521.75/month....sounds high, have not had a chance to review.
Also...which model is most popular in Canada.
Looking to reaplace wifes 2002 Civic which loves, could be a tough task!
  • carguy58carguy58 Member Posts: 2,303
I was looking at the at a New Jersey newspaper today and Mazda has a 500 dollar facory rebate on the 3. I don't know this car might be really really good that it may not be discounted alot until the 06 Honda Civic and 06 Hyundai Elantra enter the market. Got to throw the 06 Jetta in as well. Mazda probably has the best compact car out there now but will have its hands full in a couple of more model years.

Mazda sold 4,426 3's last month. Its off to a quick start sales wise.

We picked up our car yesterday.

We got it from a dealer in the west Toronto area. Sunset Orange...we were going to buy Titanium or Black but the previous day we counted a that out of 44 cars in our underground 33 were either Black, Silver, or grey!!! 2 Were green, 2 were white, 2 were orange (Nissan Murano and Nissan 350Z, 3 were some derivation of Blue, 1 red and my other car which is Dark Cherry.

Black and Silver/Grey seem be the 'safe' colours -But our walls aren't 'off white' either.

I loved the Winning Blue being offered with this car but it was a little too 'boyish' for the wife.

The car is fully loaded including leather - but we opted out of the Auto at the last minute and went for the 5 speed - really gives the car the Zoom Zoom :).

We weren't to crazy about the salesman (read we hated him); we ultimatley ended up dealing with the owner directly after I called to complain that I dropped a good deal based on his salesperson false promises over the phone - his song and dance, feed my children routine once we arrived...

28,200 ON THE ROAD - all costs including taxes OTR.
29,150 for the Auto if we went for that.

I hope we got a fair deal...
    would love some feedback.

I bought my titanium Sport GT in early January for 27,400 (with X-box ). I don't have the leather, so it is approximately the same deal. Buyers in the US seem to do alot beter, but for Canada it seems fair. Buyers here can expect $500-600 off MSRP, and maybe a little wiggle room in the assorted and often maddening array of dealership charges. Enjoy the car, I really love mine.
  • steveflstevefl Member Posts: 62
Sunset Orange? Is that a new color or is it the familiar Lava Orange?

I reported an advertisement for a $1500 factory rebate, but it now seems that's just an additional $500 added to the existing $1000 rebate -- $500 for college grads and the $500 loyalty rebate. It would be a rare individual indeed who would qualify for all three.
  • lmp180psulmp180psu Member Posts: 399
is the name of the U.S. Lava Orange in Canada. Also Strato Blue in the U.S. is called Indigo Blue in Canada.

Its based on a 48 month lease!

I have a question for stevfl & carguy58 on the additional $500 rebate. Where did you see this? It seems like from your message that it is a factory rebate, but I have not found it on Edmunds or the MazdaUSA site. I have seen the $500 college grad and the $500 loyalty rebate, but not this other $500 rebate. Is it just a local dealers advertised sale price? The college grad and loyalty rebates do not apply in my case, the only thing that I have found is 3.9% financing.
My plan is to buy sometime in the late summer after test driving late spring/early summer so I am not too concerned at this point. I am just wondering where's the best place to go to find information on current rebates being offered.
  • steveflstevefl Member Posts: 62
My local dealership (NC) advertised "Mazda3, $1500 factory rebate" in the newspaper this weekend. I assume this is merely an extra $500 rebate in addition to the college graduate and loyalty rebates. I posted the dealership's toll-free number but learned this was against the Forum's rules (no offense, moderator). For more information, e-mail me.
  • speedracer007speedracer007 Member Posts: 33
The only ads I have seen here locally(Conn)show the 3.9% financing. It is also interesting in that if you look on the Mazda Website, it states that the college graduate and loyalty rebates can not be combined. Maybe in NC it is something that they are doing just locally? However, I can't imagine car sales have been very good for anyone in the past month in Connecticut since we have had very cold weather and freezing rain.

As opposed to some people, I love the car buying game. As I stated earlier, I am about 6 months away from buying, have not taken a single test drive yet, but the "game" has begun. Game On!!
  • steveflstevefl Member Posts: 62
I just got off the telephone with the dealership who ran the ad. He told me the newspaper made a misprint. The $1500 rebate was supposed to apply to the MPV, not the Mazda3. He also told me that the dealership had honored the $1500 rebate anyway for Saturday only. (sigh) I missed the boat... again!
  • carguy58carguy58 Member Posts: 2,303
I don't know where you live but I saw the ad for the 500 dollar rebate in a New Jersey paper called the Newark Star Ledger. The dealer that that had the ad in the paper was Sansone Mazda in Woodbridge, NJ. Sansone also sells Nissan's, Lincoln/Mercury's, and Toyota's.
  • ish2lish2l Member Posts: 19
Do you guys think the grad rebate will last past the March 1st deadline? I believe they had it when the car was first launched until Jan 2nd, and then extended it after that. Does Mazda usually keep similar rebates around all year?
  • jahbojahbo Member Posts: 1
Just got my Mazda 3i here in IL. I applied for the $500 dollar rebate for college grads, which was not half bad. I also worked them to down to $16,500 for a silver auto tranny, A/C, power package, 16 inch alloys, 6 cd indash player, moonroof, and safty package. I thought I did a pretty good job? Yes, no?
  • tiredofmanualtiredofmanual Member Posts: 338
Most manufacturers offer that grad rebate (or some sort of grad "bonus") and the rebates are pretty much perpetual. Don't expect it to go away any time soon.
  • mason12mason12 Member Posts: 9
I just got home with my new Black Mica GS, with Air, AT and Power Package. Paid $21070 plus 15% sales tax, put down $1500 cash plus $1000 trade in, included disability insurance on the lease, and for a 48 month term am paying $311/month.

Steele Mazda in NS is where I went, was reasonably happy with the experience.
  • bodble2bodble2 Member Posts: 4,514
I assume the rebate is eligible college, and not high school, graduates?
  • ish2lish2l Member Posts: 19
Yes, it is for soon-to-be or recent college graduates + current graduate school students.
  • purduealum91purduealum91 Member Posts: 285
Enlighten me. I dont mean to start trouble but I can get a WRX for less than $21,000. granted it may not be loaded. Just curious.
  • wongpreswongpres Member Posts: 422
    $CDN vs $US
  • carguy58carguy58 Member Posts: 2,303
is over sales projections for what Mazda had in mind I think. This is not another discounted Mazda product like Mazda usually has.
  • bodble2bodble2 Member Posts: 4,514
has only a $1500 CDN spread between MSRP and dealer cost, so given that most dealer needs about $700 profit, you'd be looking at discount of no more than $800.

After getting pre-approval from my credit union this morning, I went over to the dealer, and asked about the incoming inventory of silver S sedans, and I was told one would be in Mid-Late March. I told them I am definitely interested in it, and I will give my $100 refundable deposit in early March when I test out the Xenons at night, and hope to have successful discussions about price. Can't wait!
  • steveflstevefl Member Posts: 62
So far, so good, Imp. One month to go. How will you spend your time meanwhile?
  • lmp180psulmp180psu Member Posts: 399
I will spend my time here, and on the other Mazda3 forum discussing the MZ3 :) I was saying to myself during my solo testdrive today, " This is too fun!". The wait is maddening :)

I guess it's like I told my Mother the other day, "I'm not impatient, I just don't like to wait".

I bought my 3 yesterday (Happy Valentine's Day) at Sentry West Mazda/Linc/Merc in Shrewsbury MA. I used the S-Plan through my employer and had a absolutely painless buying experience. I would definitely recommend that path to those who have it available.

Titanium gray, 3s, 4-door sedan, ABS package, Sport package, moonroof package, and auto trans (for the Mrs... oh well). Final price was 18,633, or about 300 below invoice, 1400 below Edmunds TMV. So I'm pretty happy with the S-Plan!
  • z71billz71bill Member Posts: 1,986
We both got the same options / car - only difference is mine is black.

I came up an invoice price of $18,539 - (My MSRP was $20,005)

    Base $15,335
    Auto 810
    ABS 688
    Sport 421
    Moonroof 765
    Dest 520
    Total $18,539

Not sure why the ~~$400 difference - but you did get a good deal. I paid $18,883.

    Dear Fellow 3 Owners/Enthusiasts:

I'm looking to get a Mazda 3 Hatcback in the near future and wanted to know if any of you have had good experiences with dealerships/salespeople/and pricing in the San Francisco Bay Area. I'm looking to get
    1.) ABS Package
    2.) Xenon Light Package
    3.) Leather
all for a little of $18,000? Is that reasonable, considering Invoice is $18,110 according to edmunds?
  • jentamcjentamc Member Posts: 1
My local dealer is trying to sell me the car on their floor. It has everything I want, and a little extra (dvd navi and xenon pkg). He said he would sell for $250 over invoice. I don't mind the extras, but is it worth it? If I don't get it, he won't be able to keep the deal at $250 over invoice. Advice?
  • SnowDogSnowDog Member Posts: 12
When computing invoice price I counted the 6 CD changer twice; once as a standalone option and once as part of the moonroof package. There's the 400 difference. Good eyes :).

So, invoice was $18,539 and I paid $18,633 -- so 94 over invoice.

One thing I noticed was that the invoice had a $100 charge on it labeled "Boston". The salesman said this was charged to the dealership on all cars sold in the area. I was suspicious at first but the invoice came from Mazda USA and not the local dealership, and the S-Plan price was right on the invoice, so I wasn't going to lose sleep over it.

As far as I could tell, that $100 carried over onto the S-Plan price as well.

In fact ... the invoice cost of the base car is 15,335 and the S-Plan is 15,329 (6 under invoice). Everything else is the same, S-Plan or Invoice. Then you add the $100 for the Boston charge, and it equals the $94 difference.

In any case, the deal was just fine, especially considering it cost zero bargaining effort on my part (I guess working for a big company has its perks). Good job on your deal, too!
  • z71billz71bill Member Posts: 1,986
$94 over invoice is a great deal - but on a new model it is 2 X as nice.
  • poondoggerpoondogger Member Posts: 14
I think if your salesperson can offer it to you once, he can get it to you again. Just think of it that way. If you don't mind the extras, that's fine, but don't let anyone pressure you into buying a car if you aren't ready. Just think of it that way. It is a competitive market...they want your business. On cars direct, you can get it for $500 over invoice already, so chopping that in half isn't that hard. Just be patient and realize that if you can get it once, you can get it again...that is if they want your business. YOU HAVE THE POWER AS THE BUYER. REMEMBER THAT.

After 5 visits to the local dealership, I drove home two weeks ago with a winning blue Mazda3 hatch. It's my first new car purchase ever - and only the third car I've owned - and I'm one of those types who can't even make a small decision too easily. And this was a big one! There's a bit of a story behind it all but here's the short version:

Winning Blue Hatch w/ auto transmission
    ABS/SAB/SAC
    Moonroof & 6CD package
    Xenon & TPMS
    $19,407 not including TT&L

According to Edmund's that's $229 over invoice, so I think that's pretty good, right? I think those 5 visits and me getting cold feet at the very last minute really helped.

And I want to say a big Thank You to everybody that has posted messages about the Mazda3 on here - it definitely helped me make the right car-buying decision.
  • lmp180psulmp180psu Member Posts: 399
That is the exact option configuration I will be getting, but I am getting a Silver "S" sedan. I haven't negotiated price yet but have told my saleswoman that I want the car that is coming in in Mid-Late March.

Your price is about the price I would be very satisfied with. I hope I don't have to make 5 trips though :)
  • poondoggerpoondogger Member Posts: 14
Hey guys, according to edmunds I can get the exact car I want at Invoice + $150 Advertisement Fee. She put it as "Advert/Adjustments $150.00". So is adver/Ajustments legit or is this just their way of getting profit. Regardless this is still a pretty sweet deal considering I get the Rebate from Mazda for being a College Grad. But anyone want to chime in on if this is legit or not?

$150 over invoice...the best thing of all is that I have another dealership saying they will beat that.
  • mazda6smazda6s Member Posts: 1,901
"So is adver/Ajustments legit or is this just their way of getting profit. "

Sometimes it's legit and sometimes it's not. See if it's on the actual invoice, but if another dealer has a better price, who cares?
  • dafohosmendafohosmen Member Posts: 21
What would be a reasonable price for a Titanium Grey Mazda3s with Manual, Nav, Leather, Xenon, Moonroof and 6-Cd. I will be getting either the S Plan or A plan, whichever is the top plan that you can use for Mazda's. I am going to the dealer tommorow to test drive.
  • mbennett674mbennett674 Member Posts: 66
I recently purchased the same car:
    Titanium Sedan 3s
    5 Speed
    ABS/SAB/SAC
    Moonroof 6CD
    Sport Pkg
    Xenon & TPMS
    Nav

    19,936 + Tax

I was told 2-3 months - hoping for an April delivery
  • dafohosmendafohosmen Member Posts: 21
Was your purchase with one of the Plans or just a negotiated price?
  • mbennett674mbennett674 Member Posts: 66
    My price was negotiated.
  • dafohosmendafohosmen Member Posts: 21
I went to two dealerships in Indy this weekend and got average results. After an hour of b.s., I got one dealership down to 20,600, but that was with the college graduate program and A plan, so that was nothing special. The second dealership I called on the phone and immediately offered me 19,987, once again with A plan and New Graduate program. Where should I be able to get with those two things?
  • mbennett674mbennett674 Member Posts: 66
not sure what A Plan is, but ask teh dealer for the invoice - the invoice prices on Edmunds are pretty accurate. The grad program should get you to $500 below invoice. make sure the dealer isn't making up the $ on financing charges.

Don't tell dealers you ahve teh grad program or A Plan until you have a negotiated price, otherwise they will include that in the negotiations.
  • audia8qaudia8q Member Posts: 3,138
The whole concept of the S-plan (a-plan applies to ford employees who purchase fords) is to avoid the games and BS and get a simple fixed price deal.....Why would you tell somebody to go in and play games? Also, don't you think you should tell the consumer that the edmunds numbers do not include the mazda ad fee?
  • mbennett674mbennett674 Member Posts: 66
    What's the Ad Fee?
  • audia8qaudia8q Member Posts: 3,138
It depends on the region...anywhere from $100 to $250.
