How was the installation?
Are these better than what I could get from DeeZee?
Thanks

Also, you don't say whether this is a 4x4 or Prerunner. Obviously this makes a serious difference in price as well. Good luck.
I tried this in my area with 4 different dealers, they all watched me walk out without even bothering to take my phone number. Not a good sign.
That tactic DOES work on less popular vehicles, my '99 Jeep was picked up at invoice. It may also work on a Tacoma towards the end of the summer. Right now, in some areas, they're sold before they're built, much less actually arrive at the dealership.
I finally ended up dealing with a dealer who went about $25.5 for a truck that Edmunds TMVs in my zip code @ 26,6'ish. My dealer has ONE 4x4 DC V6, and ONE 4x2 4 banger, on the lot for test drives, I wasn't able to find an Access cab to drive before I bought mine. I test drove the DC.
If you're in an area where Tacos and Toyota have any kind of a following, buying close to invoice will be very tough right now. If getting a rock bottom price is important to you, WAIT!
Ford Rangers and Mazda B-series have piles of cash on the hood right now, but they're what they are.

Bottom line - I wouldn't buy until shopping around more.
With stock TRD Offroad wheel package properly inflated, cruise set on flat roads, GPS & speedo were within .5 mph @ 35, 45, 60, & 70. 1/2 a mile an hour is not easy to read on an analog speedo, so I'm calling it accurate.
GPS is a Garmin 60CS, reporting 8 foot accuracy.
I can't find any local radar signs to compare the GPS & Radar with.
2005 Tacoma, double cab/ shortbed V6, TRD offroad package. MSRP 29,600/ sale price 27,900. Is this a reasonable sale price?

As far as function, I'm 250 lb and put my weight on them getting into the truck with no issues - no wobble or give. My only complaint is that they're actually a little too close to the truck, and your foot is almost underneath the door sill when getting in. I don't bother using them to get out, but I don't have a lift on my PreRunner (yet).
Thanks for the ideas...

Hi jdvailco
I purchased the above lights and installed them on my SR5 Speedway Blue Double Cab Long Box. I also hated the openings for the fog lights so these have been a great addition. I have pictures to show you how they look installed if you are interested, I paid $67US I believe including shipping and I live in Canada. My e-mail address is jessupr@yahoo.com if you have further questions.
How was the install? Thank you
paul
The short bed double cab doesn't have any floor space "in front of the rear wheels".
It is just over 5 ft long. If you have a wide cargo box floor area both in front of and behind the rear wheels, you have a long bed.
Just an option I thought I'd share, that worked for me.
Appreciate any information or opinions. Thanks!
Thanks

It sounds like a really good idea if it works on the 05's. If anyone has done this let me know. Thanks...
Ebayed that, and ended up going with the locking suction cup mount made by RAM mounts. It's the second one I have had (should have known to go that route first, but the RAM mount wasn't out yet), although a bit expensive, it's very, very stable.
Try regular gas and keep it under 65 mph. I bet you'll hit 20 mpg if you do some highway driving with your tank of gas. Let me know.

I use the suction cup in cars and light aircraft, and have a ball mount screwed to the "hood" of my kayak. The one place I like Garmin mounts the best are on bicycles. Ram mounts are kind of clunky on a bicycle, and the ubolt can crush a high-end handlebar.
I just wish Garmin would allow us to choose GPS altitude or barometric altitude on a display box and in climb / descent calculations. Barometric altitude is useless in pressurized a/c, and accessing GPS altitude is via a klutzy workaround.
How'd your speedo measure up?
The 21US gallons that the service manager is telling you about is the 80Litres that the maunal lists. I have mentioned on here before that I have put in 23.4US gallons or about 89 Litres in one fill up. This involves maxing out the tank. Thats quite a bit extra (2.3US gallons) from what Toyota lists as a tank size.
I agree on the altitude/barometric option as well. Seems strange they haven't done that yet.
My speedo was only 1.5MPH off at 65 and 2MPH off at 70MPH. Not that big of a deal. The speedo was lower than the GPS, but that didn't stop me from getting a ticket! :confuse:
For your Flowmaster was it a kit? or did they bend it for you?
I am on a waiting list for a Leer 100XQ canopy, i found out yesterday that production will not be starting untill June!!
one thing i have noticed is that patience comes with owning an`05, you have to wait for everything. Months for your truck, months for perfomance parts,......
As well i am interested in installing a chip eventually, does anyone have any feed back??
The way I understand it easy install no drilling just using existing hardware for mounting.
Thanks, Phippini
I ride on and off road, with five bikes. I used to have an eTrex Vista as well, but I got tired of having the wrong maps, etc... in each unit, so I just ride with the 60CS. A mini caribiner is attached to the strap in case the mount breaks. If I want to use the GPS on extremely difficult terrain, I'll stick it in my pack and use an external antenna. I like the accuracy of the track logs from the 60.
I'm happy that the Taco has enough windscreen slope and other glass to not need an external antenna with the 60CS in the Ram mount. This unit is my 9th GPS since 1995.
Small nicks and scratches are easily taken out of the GPS screen with Flitz, if you should happen to get them.
