Hey guys,

I was quoted a lease on a 2018 R8 RWS - with 4,001 miles (dealer loaner), original MSRP was apparently $150,500 and current list sale price is $137,500.

I was told MF on 24 month 5,000 miles lease is: 0.00278, residual is 77%.

Payment is $1,350 after $10k down, this includes all upfront acquisition and dealer fees - does not include tax.

These numbers seem inflated, can anyone confirm? Dealer is in zip code 30096 in Georgia, I'm in NY. Thank you!

I would think that a car that is approaching two model years old, with 4000 miles on it, would qualify for a discount greater than 9%.

Tell them you won't sign any deal unless you get the base MF. Then, work on more of a discount.

Appreciate the insight. That specific vehicle sold — but they have another: same situation, 2018 RWS, 128,500 list price, 9998 miles on it.

I mentioned the MF is inflated and they dropped the sale price to $125,000, adjusted cap cost is $126,600 with fees.

Original MSRP 143,325. On a 36m/5k term it's $1348/month after $8k down.

I was told the MF is for a "near-new lease" and as a result it's higher... but that .00191 is for new vehicles. There's definitely a markup which he acknowledged but I'm not sure how much. I'll press back on the next call.

Part of the monthly payment is because apparently you need to "buy the miles down to 0" in order to lease it, which means paying 75 cents per mile. Never heard of this but apparently it's what made the downpayment useless — but they split it by reducing the sales price. It's the cheapest one in the country currently... but I'll still press some more.

What they did was mark it down to $125,000, added on their fees ($126,600). But then they're charging me a "milage penalty" of 75 cents per mile - which comes out to roughly $134,100 as the cap cost.

That's what's making the monthly payment so much higher... have you heard of anything like this? Does the fact that it's a "near new lease" affect the MF at all?

And does Audi require you to "buy back the miles down to zero" in order to lease it with that residual?

It's advertised as used. I was told it was leased by a GM at the same dealership, and came out of lease about 3 weeks ago.

This dealer has no new RWS models, and can't find any available for lease in the country unfortunately to compare it to. The only thing I can get a comparison for is not a real comparison - it's the new 2020 models with sticker prices of $209,000 - $220,000+.

That said, after I ran the numbers, that mileage penalty they're adding is making the cap cost very close to MSRP which is absurd, considering it's used... and the MF as you said is much higher than it should be.

If you have a target number given the above that you think is realistic, please let me know... I'll push back but I don't think I can reasonably sign with these numbers as is.

If it's marked as used, we don't have any info on the Audi CPO lease program, or even if they are using AFS as the bank. So, the MF could be correct; we don't have any way of knowing.
