Funny you mention it because I saw one yesterday as well. But they do seem rare.

...LaCrosses are quite common. Must be a regional thing. Our Buick dealer couldn't keep 'em in stock. My girlfriend's car had to come from New Jersey.

On the freeway back from work I saw a gold Bentley GT driving the opposite way. I think the GT in black looks classier. Then I saw a yellow Ferrari F360 Spyder, stunning car especially in yellow. Can't mistake it for anything else.

....I also saw an HHR, though I completely forgot about it til you mentioned it, I was walking to the train from having minor surgery (which didn't turn out to be so minor, otherwise I would have arranged a ride!). Anywho, the HHR was silver with gray interior (yawn), looked like a somewhat boxier PT with a more chopped looking roof and tiny upright windshield, which I hope aren't becoming the new trend, I don't like what it does to outward vision, headroom or my general feeling of claustrophobia. Give me a big, airy greenhouse any day, like the one on my old Accord.

Has a white Bentley GT. The more I look at it, the more I like it. White just does'nt do it justice, though. Black, or red, as I saw in a magazine recently, would look much better. Not a new car, but today I saw a mid 90's Nissan 2-door compact. (200NX?) Anyway, it had a factory body colored rear spoiler, to which the owner had bolted a pep boys aluminum job. I'm surprised it did'nt have the plastic spinny hubcaps.

.....I've only seen the Bentley GT in a charcoal gray and a strange cobalt blue, both looked OK, though I question the choice of blue as far as resale goes. I almost invariably hate white cars, the exception being '80s Cadillac Fleetwoods, for some reason. They're not too popular in Illinois what with the rust issues and general lack of heat most months. You're a lot more likely to see grays, black, blues and greens.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,411
I've seen the GT in many colors here. The gray is most common, also a maroon/burgundy that I recall. I've seen one white one...not my first choice.

I really want to see the Flying Spur or whatever the sedan variant is to be called.

The Lotus dealership in Columbus was advertising their new Elise's.. That is about two hours from here.. they sell Lotus, BMW, Ferrari.. but, I don't ever remember them advertising in our paper..

They listed six of them.. with color, major options, and MSRP.. All between $44K-$49K..

This makes me think they are having trouble selling them...

    regards,

Saw a couple of Ridgelines this weekend, and a Tribeca or two as well. Both are beginning to become common.

I had a hell of a spotting weekend, mostly b/c I went out in greenwich village Friday night and then drove out towards the hamptons the next day.
I saw a Challenge stradale 360 in front of a restaurant covered in racing sponsorship details including the logo of the restaurant, I guess it's the owner's or something. There was a burgundy Arnage red label parked in front of our restaurant... very nice color. Later that night a blue Azure rolled slowly by driven by a really fat guy who was clearly hoping someone would look at him. (Those cars are for attention craving losers, I prefer coupes). The next day on the highway I saw a black 360 spyder, a red diablo, and a black Rolls Corniche (rebadged Bentley azure). Coming back into the city we saw a lovely Austin Healey 3000 which was truthfully the nicest looking car of all

Oh and the Benz dealership near my office has a black Mclaren SLR with a big yelow SOLD sticker on the windshield... Must be nice to walk in on your lunch break and impulse buy one of those

Neighbor just bought a Mustang GT conv. over the weekend. Red w/white top. Pretty sharp looking vehicle. Also saw a few people taking B9's out for test drives. Avalons have become so common I wouldn't even call them a find any more...

Saw one of these behind me in my commute today. Looks good on the road, better than in pics. You gotta see it in 3D, I like how the lights are incorporated in the car's lines instead of vice-versa.

These have been out for a while, but I hadn't seen one yet. The Mini Cooper Convertible. Cute as a speckled puppy it is.

Saw a blue Charger yesterday, then a couple of Mustangs. Wonder if they made a 2 door if it would sell as well as the 'stang?

Lotus Elise, rare in NYC because they would be really painful to drive here.

I was expecting to hate it, but it didnt look too bad. Much larger than I expected. Now if they would just do something about the engine and suspension settings.

Yesterday I spotted a 2006 BMW 325 sedan. I like the new style. It looks much better than the 5 and 7 series redesigns.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Rear drum brakes and a torsion beam suspension. :(

But the price is right. Besides the PT it might also have to compete with the Scion xB.

I saw a silver Gallardo today...I'd take it.

Today I saw a white Hummer H3 and a silver 2006 Impala. The H3 is too small for my taste but I think it's great for the people who want a Hummer but can't afford to spend 50K for a vehicle. I haven't made a decision if I like the new Impala exterior but I can definitely say the the interior looks much better that the previous model, at least from the pics that I've seen here on Edmunds.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Saw one in a Chevy dealer's lot, still none on the roads yet that I've spotted.

Mustangs were all over the place at the beach, I lost count.

Saw a white one, first one I've seen on the road. I like 'em but my wife simply hated it. She doesn't like the styling of the Matrix either so I think it's just the wedgy shape with the pointed headlights that she dislikes.

She said the HHR looked like a clown car.

Didn't like either one at all.

Saw a blue Quattroporte on Saturday morning. Looked magnificent.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,669
got only a quick glance, it looked just like an H3, only smaller. I also took a look at a parked Equinox which looked okay except for the overly wide chrome band in the nose.
It's too big for the car, they should've scaled it down from the sive they use on K-10a and Suburbans.

I saw quite a few Audi A8s during a recent trip to the NYC area. Everywhere you go you see new Mustangs, coupes outnumber 'verts but not by as much as you'd think. but V6s outnumber GTs 2-1.

I saw a white H3. Yesterday I saw a whole tractor-trailer full of VW Phaetons. Good looking car, and IMO marred only by the taillights and the VW badging.

On Saturday night I also got a good closeup look of the 2006 Impala, on a sales lot in Harrisburg. Pulled my Intrepid up next to it just to get a comparison. Man, those things have gotten tall! It's not a bad looking car, and the pricing seemed reasonable. I don't know if it's going to save GM, but it won't hurt. If I were in the market for a new car, and if the Charger/300 weren't out, I'd consider one.

    Infiniti M35x..

Kind of non-descript for a $50K car... For looks, you could toss this, the Lexus GS and the Acura RL in a blender.... All the same generic look..

I also saw a new GS350 (I think they're up to the 350 now, aren't they?) Only saw it from the back, but I thought it was pretty attractive. About the only thing I don't like are the circles that look like they're drawn on the taillights.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Saw two of each yesterday and this morning. They seem to be selling well, at least in my 'hood.

They're pretty conservative, but handsome at the same time. At least they don't offend like some parts of newer Bimmers (Bangle butts and Dame Edna lights).

The M45 even manages to have a bit of character.

I was taking a short cut on the road behind all the car dealers here. It was an Audi, tall car or short SUV wrapped almost completely in white, except for the windows. It's shaped reminded me of the Pacifica.

When it turned onto a side street, a whole lot of cars followed it. Either its some super cool car I am ignorant about, or I got caught in a car commercial.

Any ideas what it could have been?
  • merc1merc1 Member Posts: 6,081
Most likely it was their new crossover/SuV thingy, the Q7. What one was doing here so soon is anyone's guess.

Saw a bronze HHR today. Couldn't figure out what it was on the interstate ramp next to me. Has a jaunty look-like the Scion box vehicle. It doesn't have the hunched look the PT does have.

Haven't seen an HHR in the wild yet. Bronze sounds like it would be a good color for it!

Unfortunately I have seen a couple of 500s with carriage roofs. One had a burgandy roof and another had a black roof. About 2 months ago I saw a Chrysler 300 with a carriage roof. Carriage roofs mess up the car in my opinion but after all, it's their money and if they like it then they can get it.

Other than that I saw a red Ferrari going down the street. I couldn't tell which one but it looks like the same Ferrari that Edmunds just tested. I believe it's called the F430?

Lastly I went to the Ford Innovation drive and saw the 2006 Explorer, Ford Fusion, Ford GT, and the Roush Mustang shown above.
  • ghuletghulet Member Posts: 2,564
....the first I saw was a silver five-door, kinda blended in with A4s, but the last one I saw was a yellow three-door, quite a bit more distinctive (though I don't like yellow cars!).

next to me at a stop light. I took off quickly, hoping to make him step on it a bit so I could hear the engine. He few by me like a shot, and it sounded awesome.

When I was in London last month I was at B. Palace and had the opportunity to hear one of the new DB9's. WOW. This guy was hammering the hell out if it leaving a stoplight, I think it was my favorite part of the whole 3 week trip!!!
  • teds1teds1 Member Posts: 180
Just got back from a week in Italy... needless to say there was a lot of cool stuff over there. Some highlights.

Blue 575 Ferrari filling up next to me at the gas station... probably very expensive to run given fuel prices there (35 Euro for half a tank in my tiny rental)

Silver Lambo Gallardo parked on a small quiet unassuming street in a small tuscan town

Purple Spykker c8 going to the Palio in Siena... unbelievable to see and hear driver looked about 27, maybe a race car driver

The Alpha GT is pretty sweet looking as are all the alphas... I'd love to get them here but they seem pretty pricey for what they are

Smart cars and roadsters of course

I rented a tiny thing called a Fiat Panda. actually anything with a manual is fun there because of the great roads and this 60 HP monster did not dissapoint.

Weird thing called a Lancia Thesis... like a Maybach crossed with a bug eyed sprite roadster from the 60s... probably a nice car but very strange looking...

Great trip, I highly reccomend it...
