I've seen folks on the other board talking about $30k discounts on them

    '11 GMC Sierra 1500; '98 Alfa 156 2.0TS; '08 Maser QP; '67 Coronet R/T; '13 Fiat 500c; '20 S90 T6; '22 MB Sprinter 2500 4x4 diesel; '97 Suzuki R Wagon; '96 Opel Astra; '11 Mini Cooper S

I spoke to an Acura HQ rep at the Greenwich Concours d' Elegance (there were I believe 3 NSX there). She said indeed a $30k discount is doable, I coyly asked about $50k, she said if I was serious, here's my card we can talk when I'm back in CA... Even at $50k discount, not in my league...

She also said the issue was that all of the '17s were ordered by the dealers loaded. And that the clientele, when spending that much $, didn't want to be told all or nothing, they wanted the configuration that they wanted. So, they sat at dealer lots (and I did read on nearly $50k discounts at at least one dealer). Acura Lady noted that all '18s and for the near future, would be by order only. The way the buyer wants it...

'21 Dark Blue/Black Audi A7 PHEV (mine); '22 White/Beige BMW X3 (hers); '20 Estoril Blue/Oyster BMW M240xi 'Vert (Ours, read: hers in 'vert weather; mine during Nor'easters...)

Saw a Buick Avenair(?) wagon, vaguely Volvo'ish looking.

Avenir. Comes in three flavors. Regal, LaCrosse and Enclave.

I thought it was a wagon, but could be wrong. There doesn't seem to be a 2018. Could have been a 2019.

Just remembered, I saw a Civic Type R(or what the sportiest version in called). Has to be the most overwrought design in decades.

Saw an RLX in traffic today, so they sold another one. Couldn't make out the plate to discern the exact age.
  • fushigifushigi Member Posts: 1,459
Was behind an i3 for a while on the highway today. It .. isn't a good look.

My cousin’s wife has one.   When I used that joke they didn’t get it

Followed an RDX in, the new one. Back end was an improved CR-V, but that's not saying a lot. Wish I had seen the front end.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,507
At work saw a 5er plug in hybrid, not a common car. On the road saw a yellow Ferrari retractable of some kind, and a Marie Antoinette Bentayga looking gaudier than expected in white with tinted wheels and black wheels.
  • tifightertifighter Member Posts: 3,795
So here's a weird one. Yesterday I saw a white Nissan Frontier. But not one he have in the US, but the latest one they have overseas, the Navarra 300. Crew cab short bed. Couldn't see the plates. They don't sell this in Canada, but do list it on the Mexico site, so maybe someone is on a road trip.

Not the latest thing, but saw a Model 3 with a personalized plate "THREE". At least it wasn't a dorky pro-EV plate, but still cringe-worthy, and probably very appealing to the base.
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
Like it needs a label? Just stand in front of it, and you won't mistake it for anything else.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,507
I think the Tesla mindset is different from car people.

Drove beside a white on white newer Rolls-Royce convertible today. Not exactly subtle, but this is a place you could get away with that and not worry about safety.

You'll be pleased to know that Asian real estate speculation is drying up now.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,507
I don't know if I'd go that far - there has been a mild softening, but I suspect offshore money is still a huge factor in many areas. No matter, in many places the damage is done.

R-R driver was a typical looking old guy, rather sketchy newly arrived money.

Saw the opposite end of the spectrum today, a new unplated trunkback Mirage, for those who really just want a new car.
  • fushigifushigi Member Posts: 1,459
re: Mirage. Surprisingly the hatchback lists for a full grand less than the trunkback. Of course dealer incentives may negate the difference. Versa lists for less though Mirage ought to get better economy & has a better warranty.

There's a case where I might pick the Nissan, especially in hatchback version. Small trunkback cars just look off, both the Versa and Mirage sedans look weird.

Shame we don't get the Micra.

    Mitsubishi - suddenly it is 1989 B)

The Nissan Micra is a cool choice, I agree, fintail.

Micra is kind of a neat little car in a way, really cheap in Canadaland, too.

But I'd rather have the new E63s wagon I saw today B)

I saw a VW Areton today in a bright gold/yellow color. The color didn't do it any favors but overall it's a good looking vehicle.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,507
Are you in Yourup or is the Arteon trickling in now? Haven't seen any here yet but I saw a number in Germany late last year.

This was in Denver, so I think they must be tricking in over here.

I saw a new Jetta in the metallic orange they offer with either a factory sport package or dealer add-ons, parked on a podium in front of a local VW dealer. It had black alloys and some blackout trim, and while I am not usually a fan of either of those items, I have to admit this one looked pretty sharp.

Saw a new style CLS on the road today, maybe the first I have seen in the wild.

Driving around Ireland I noticed two things: they're buying LOTS of CUVs (about 1/3 of the passenger vehicles), and they buy all countries' cars - lots of Toyotas, Hyundai/Kias, VWs, Renaults, Peugeots, Fords. Plus lots of work vans, no pickup trucks.
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,505
pretty sure I saw a new 2019 Ram today in my neighborhood. I only got a quick glance of the front end but it looked like one.

I don't see American vehicles in that list of countries.

As contrary to what a certain someone believes, most of the world has no desire for a Taurus or Silverado.

A lot of US vehicles are too large for many foreign country roads I believe.
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,505
Ireland has really small roads. Chevy spark sized in many areas.

Here in Switzerland, I've seen more RAM trucks then you would expect to see. I mean, I'd need a second hand to count them.

I've seen RAMs in Germany, too. They are used by actual farmers for utility purposes, weird.

They are owned by a Euro-based company.

Saw a new RAM the other day, front reminds me a bit of a Ridgeline.
It may depend on the model, though.

Anyone know if the Ford Edge is built on the Ford Fusion chassis?
  • texasestexases Member Posts: 11,133
It's related. Kind of like how the Highlander and RX350 are related to the Camry.

I'll take a look tonight, I have an MKX and an MKZ...
  • berriberri Member Posts: 10,165
The Edge, like the Fusion, get some good write-ups (and you basically have the upscale versions)
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,507
Saw a white Stinger, along with a Genesis G80 in livery duty.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,471
The Stinger I saw was white, as well. It's a good color for that model.

We're happy with them. Ours are the previous generation, based on the "CD3" platform:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_CD3_platform

Current ones are (surprise) on the CD4 platform:

I will say, looking underneath there wasn't a lot in common that I could see.

I think the current model edge is really nice looking.

out driving through a neighborhood today, a white RDX with temp tags. Looked nice. And down the blog, a white with black roof Volvo XC40. snazzy looking.

A new Acura NSX. I can see why they didn't sell.
The engine sounded very flat, not something you would want in a 'supercar'.

A blue Stinger yesterday. Couldn't see any details but that makes only the second I've seen in the wild (the first was red).

Saw another Clarity on the road, and an X2 - surprised I haven't seen more of those here, given the local penchant for premium branded soft roaders.

Not new, but also saw an M6 GC, maybe my favorite modern BMW, and it was filled with mylar balloons, funny.
