I spotted a NEW (insert make/model) today!

I've noticed it is less obtrusive on the wagon than the Bluetec, probably because of engine NVH (the 6 is virtually imperceptible at warm idle). Response is instant anyway.

Oh I've already thought about that, I am somewhat of a neat freak about my cars, and smells would put me off. The cargo cover will also be in place whenever the gear is back there.

On the new car front, I saw a brand new X5 today, pretty sure it wasn't an X7.

GLC300, the new popular MB cute-ute in Southern CA.

I saw a Youtube video comparing the usual suspects for decent size (but not big) SUV's, including:

1. Acura RDX
   
2. Volvo XC60
   
3. MB GLC300
   
4. Audi Q5
   
5. BMW X3
   

Was a pretty good review of the strengths and weaknesses, though a little excessively positive for all of them.

Basically luxury = MB & Audi

Sport = Acura & BMW

Off Road = Volvo

I like all of those. Depending on budget, they would all be on the look at list when it's time to replace my TLX.

Went in to pick up the rubber mats and cargo box promised to me by the salesman for the new car. He delivered, and I asked him about recent MB sales. He said GLCs are the hot thing here right now - he sold 3 this week, along with an AMG GT 4 door.

He also reminded me the all-important survey should arrive within a week, and I assured him he'll be fine. He has followed through with his promises, and communicated much better than other local dealers I contacted before the purchase.

MB was a no-show in Denver.

Wife does like the GLC - at least, from the rear. Not that we're in the market for anything; she likes the Outback too much.

guy across the street from me has a GLC. A year or 2 ago it replaced a GLK. I like the C. Looks good.

It is in the generic mid-size SUV sweet spot. X3, GLC, RDX, Q5. All incredibly popular. My wife is now on her third one. I like the GLC look, as well.

MB was absent at the Vancouver show as well, which is either surprising or not, as the brand is yuuuuge there. At one point maybe 20 years ago, I think it had some weird stat like the most S-class per capita in NA or something.

Mid size SUV now = Mid size sedan in 90s.  

Easily the most popular segment

makes sense. I consider that to be the most practical, especially for a single car family. We would never give up having some sort of box vehicle in the fleet! The RDX is not the most efficient design style wise (back is a bit rounded, not really square) but it still holds a ton for something the length of a prior generation Jetta or a current Civic.

@Michaell I can't fault her for liking the Outback, it's one of those vehicles that does everything right and would be hard to replace. The GLC may be nicer in some respects but you all have the better car all around.

Curbside classic had a nice review of the Denver Auto show; worth a read.

We loaded up the Outback with everything they needed to attend a summer camp fair today. Swallowed it all with room to spare. I need to spend some time cleaning up the interior; the leather could use some attention.

I don't think that's black. It looks to me like it has a very small dollop of green in it.

The black rear panel and the blackout over the license plate look black. The paint does not.

Maybe not brand new but newish, but saw another E wagon on the road today, it was even white (but sport trim). This makes 1 other wagon I have seen on the road since I got mine 2 weeks ago tomorrow. I like that kind of thing.

Saw a fairly new (early 2000's) E wagon today parked in front of our house. My best description of the color would be metallic liver. Not a beautiful choice.

Lamborghini Urus - was featured on the TV Show "Billions" last night.

Baker - home to the worlds tallest thermometer! My dad would do some work up there around the 4th of July, patrolling I-15 with a task force looking for illegal fireworks being brought into CA. This was a good 30+ years ago.
