I was able to scrounge two Ford Truck Accessories catalogs when I was at my dealer yesterday. One is spoken for so I have one for anyone that wants it. E mail me at rhannaford@netscape.net and I will send it to you. There is a website referenced in the catalog for to view and order accesories on line. I have been in it and found it not to be real user friendly, at least for this user. Lots of trouble with the links. Some of you may want to give it a shot, hopefully you will have better luck than I have. http://www.iCollection.com. Good Luck
Ordered a SD250, CC, V10, 4x4 on 9-15-99. Dealer just got the delivery date today of 01-31-00. VOPC message just changed today from "scheduled to be built week of 01-17" to " as of Jan.19(?) your unit is scheduled to be built week of Jan. 17, est. delivery to dealer week of Jan. 31". Almost too excited to type. Can anyone tell me the difference in bed sizes, (top lip dimensions) between a '94 f-150 and the 2000 SD with 8' beds? Heard the new SD is bigger. I have a cross bed tool box and tonneau I'd like to try to keep for the new one, but if it won't work I'll let it go with my trade as I had agreed.
Is there a significant difference between the '99 and '00 V10? There is a used '99 F250 SC SB 4X4 auto 3.73 reg. axle at the dealer that, as my research continues, seems to be everything I am looking for...except that it is used . It has 9800 miles on it, came from an auction in New Brunswick, Canada (the speedometer is in MPH not KPH). I know there is a bit of difference in HP and torque, but is it significant? I don't think I have the patience to wait as long as all of you have for a '00.
Also, if I decide to start bargaining (to date they want $26,850 for it - a bit high, don't you think) is it unreasonable to ask for a 3 yr./36,000 warranty from purchase as opposed to picking up the remainder of the warranty. Or is that not something the dealer can do as it is a factory warranty?
Is it possible to track your truck after it is ordered? If so, how???? I ordered a 250SD, SWB, XLT in Dec. I figure it will be in around March but I would love to track it's progress.
Don't do it! Wait to get the new SD. You might get the SD with the slapping cylinder problem. Did the 1st owner break it in right? Why did he/she sold it? DON'T DO IT. If you can't wait, go to a dealer and pick up one on the lot.
I got mine (00 2WD 3.73 Lariat v10 auto) for 28,800 (out the door was $32000 exactly).
I have a 99 V-10 and have no complaints. At the same time, I would definitely take the 00 V-10 and pay extra for it. The hp change is from 275 to 310 and the torque goes from 410 to 425. That's not a small chunk of power.
The price seems high. Granted, I got a good deal on my truck at $99 below dealer invoice, but from what you say, they are trying to sell you a truck with almost 10,000 miles on it for only $4,000 less than I paid for my truck and I'm pretty sure I've got more truck new. I paid $31,600 for:
99 Supercab 4x4 V-10 dually, 4.30 l/s, auto trans, Lariat (including leather), A/T tires, camper pkg, tow pkg, Class IV hitch, ESOF, privacy glass, sliding rear window, and just about every other option except the PTO and ambulance pkg.
I'd be a little leary as to why the truck was at an auction so soon also. Every manufacturer has lemons. I know the early 99 Superduties had ESOF problems. If it's a 4x4 ESOF, make sure to switch on the fly many times a different speeds from 0-50 to make sure that it doesn't get stuck in or out of 4x4.
hello everyone. Last week I received my y2k superduty. It only took 2 months to get. The dealer was expecting it to arrive at the beginning of Feb., but it showed up a month early. Options are as follows: 2000 F-250 extended cab shortbed XLT, 5.4L V8, auto, 4:10LS, trailer hitch, trailer package, cab steps, power telescoping trailer tow mirrors, sliding rear window, privacy glass. I would like to install a Lund Lunar visor on this truck in the near future. I've read some advertisements about the lunar visor, and from my understanding their isn't any external drilling required. I believe that the only drilling that takes place is behind the doors on the cab. Is this true and if so, has anyone installed one on their truck yet? Thankyou for all of the valuable information on this site.
Great news. You've ordered about what I did, almost a month before I did. Maybe that means that the end is indeed within sight for me too. I ordered 2000 SD F250 CC 4X4 V10,auto,XLT etc. 10/19/99. Still clean and unscheduled as of yesterday.
Make sure you measure those bed widths carefully. I have a 94 F150 shortbed and the bed is basically the same width at both ends. The SD is tapered about 1.5" in on each side for a total rear width about 3" narrower at the tailgate end. Don't know if it matters for what you're doing, but I gotta get a new cover when the time comes. And boy, does that tapered bed look good! Bite your nails, it's a coming!
Just read a post on the ford-diesel.com site. A guy who's an assembler at the FoMoCo Kansas City Truck plant answered another post about the wait time. He (the assembler) said the order bank was currently 330,000 and growing. I assume he's talking about trucks only.
Food for thought. I was at a dealer in Bangor Me that had (5) 99 F250HD SC and extended cab models.I was amazed. The prices were to high for me when compared to new. Anyway....One SC had 56,000 miles on it. Way to high for a 99. Another Green Sup. Cab appeared BRAN-NEW on the outside and underdcarriage--the stickers still bright and shiny on the axles, brakelines etc, no road dirt. Couldnt see the mileage. The problem was that the entire dash was pulled apart with a price hanging from the review mirror of 26K&change. I had talked to a local who was approaching the truck as I was going away. He said when you catch them like this that they come down from Canada with Manufacturers problems.Instead of the MFG spending time to fix them, its cheaper to auction them off (in this case the dealer) who of course inherits & tries to fix the problem. I was doing work @ a new power plant nearby for that month and stopped in the lot numerous times as their inventory changed often on the used stuff. I noticed that truck would disappear and reappear all the while, the dash was still apart with the same sticker. Are they lemons at this point, I dont know. Would feel safer, If you only get the 36k/3yr warranty with it at your educated price.
I run 9.75x 16.5/ BFG 35x12.5 on my 88 F350 CC stock suspension, 4.10's, 460 with no problems. Does anyone know if: 1. The bolt pattern is the same on the 2000 HD,CC? I ordered the Plow Pack up front w/ trailer tow so I should have enough wheel well to handle them. 2. Will the larger diameter influence the tranny shifting? I'm prepared for the deviation in the speedo.
Do you remember which dealer in Bangor, ME you saw all of the '99's at? Was it Darling's or Whited? Although the dealer said this used truck I was talking about was bought at auction "probably due to it being repossessed" I am just going to wait and go for a truck that's mine and only mine with a little more HP and torque. Thanks
This morning I went to Wiscasset Ford's web page and clicked on the build a truck section which forwarded me to the buyerconnection.com web page that Mac24 mentioned earlier. I built my truck and submitted it to Wiscasset. I just checked my e-mail, and Frank gave me a price for my "perfect" truck at 2.5% over invoice which comes to $27,995. He told me that Ford just had a price increase-Edmund's reflected this today on their page although Ford didn't on theirs! I'm guessing I won't be buying that used '99 w/9,800 miles on it from Whited for $27,650. I am going to give Kallis (in Belfast) a shot just for the fun of it, but I am guessing Frank's the man. Thanks for pointing me in that direction. PS: He said in his e-mail that all the F250's on the lot were spoken for so my wait is 3-4 months. I guess I was just dreaming to think I could find one on a lot somewhere...
I have been considering trading my truck in for a 2000 f250 sd ext cab 4x4 v10. My question is how is the 5-speed manual with the v10. I heard somewhere that there have been problems like clunking with the manual. I have a chevy 5-speed and it does some clunking, but I heard it was pretty bad on the SD. Thanks
I have a 97 F150 SC 4X4 that I had the Flowmaster installed on. It increased my gas mileage and sounds great. They installed it for $265.00 and put it just behind the converter and exits out the side. From the muffler back it is "dual" with chrome tips. Another reader said that on the V10 it won't be as "throaty" as a V8 and I truly believe that. My V8 is always noticeable (not in a bad way) but, when the hammer is down it really sounds off. In conjunction with the exhaust system I installed the K&N Filter Charger. Between the two (exhaust & filter) I realized at least a 3 mpg increase and the performance increase was very noticeable.
I recently ordered an F250 SD, CC, 4x4, SB and am anxiously waiting like everyone else.
Thanks again to all on this site who unselfishly pass along information to us less knowledgeable ones!
When you turn the knob from 2wd to 4wd, a light on the dash under the tach clicks on that says 4x4 to let you know that you have engaged the 4wd. When you move the knob back to 2wd, the light goes out. There is no illumination of anything that says ESOF, but there definitely should be a light that says 4x4 when it is engaged.
quikdraw... Idont see a problem with the tool box fitting, I took the one off of my '93 and it fits fine on the'00 (the box was originally bought for a 75 Chevy in 1975 and has been on 8 or 9 trucks, thankfully no Dodges!:) How ever with the tapered bed the cover might look wrong.
baybear... My ESOF panel does not light up but there is a light in the switch itself
Can anybody post mileage gains for improvements ie; Exhaust, chips, K&N, or other stuff. Thanks
Ezgoin, I have 9.50 16.5 33x12.5 AT tires on the rear of my 74 F350 2wd with LS and love the stability they give me for a camper and 9,000 lb loaded horsetrailer. I get 60k without rotation every set. I might do the same on my 2000 SD F350 diesel 4wd when it arrives, particularly for summer tires when most of my big loads occur. I'm no expert but heard that you can not put larger diameter tires on the SD gas engines (but okay on diesel) because of the tire revolutions not correlating to the electronic "brain" for proper performance. I'd heard something about being able to have that recalibrated but you really should ask someone who knows.
Mainecowgirl, 3 weeks ago I did my order. My preference was to work with a local dealer (local, a reputable saleman there and they have great service reputation). Interestingly, a few months back when I told the salesman that I was starting to shop and that after I decided on options wanted to give him a chance to offer me a quote, he said he'd prefer I tell him what I'd pay and he'd try to get it. I figured what the heck, if he doesn't, I walk - no loss to me. It's quite obvious from all the website and chatlines I reviewed over those months that you should be able to get what you want for no more than $500 over invoice plus (with apprx amounts) destination $665, regional advertising $170, and fuel $40. You should not pay more than that and 2.5% is too much. My recommendation is figure out off edmunds or another site what total invoice is and offer $400 more knowing you'll have to pay these other hits. Don't quibble, just walk if they don't accept. I've had many a friend called by a salesman within 24 hours accepting that price. Hey, you can always take to $500 if they counter with it. I offered $500 and they took it with no discussion. Also, most out of state dealers will ship to your nearest dealer if you want to buy elsewhere and get your price. My experience on the websites that call you back after you've submitted a "I'm ready to buy" won't give you the best offer you can get. Set your own price, stick to it, and find your own dealer who'll do it. When they accepted mine and before I signed anything I confirmed the priority I'd get (a 15) with the general manager.
Sunscreen asked about a locking gas cap. Well, I just thumbed through my Super Duty F-Series Accessories catalog and found that Ford offers one. The description says the Kit includes cap, two keys, and plastic tether. Ford base part# 9030. List price $13.12. Ask your parts department. Also, you can request a catalog from the Ford website.
Lovin' my SD (SB CC 4x4 V8 auto Lariat). Only problem I've experienced so far is the cup holder mechanism breaking. I'll get that fixed when I take the truck in for it's complimentary 3k mile service/oil change.
Am averaging 12.2 mpg in normal driving. Long interstate runs are netting 15.7 mpg.
Had a Line-X spray-in liner installed. It looks fantastic. I did not get it sprayed over the rails as the truck has the plastic rail caps. The Line-X man said that abrasion and possible rust can occur under the caps just as it can under a drop-in bedliner. Line-X can do just the rails at a later date if I wish. Cost was $365 (that includes tax). I got a quote from another Line-X dealer of $409, so if you have more than one dealer near you it pays to compare.
Ordered a LEER hard tonneau cover (picture at http://www.leer.com/pg6.html ) and will get a bug shield installed. I never cared for the look of shields before, but the most wear my old Tahoe shows is pitting on the front bonnet from rocks so I guess function over form is in order.
A friend has SD identical to mine except for his is a 4x2. My 4x4 sits at least 6 inches higher (possibly 8) than his. Looks like it's been lifted. I also got the camper package which gives it a boost. I'm 6'3'' and I NEED the running board!!
Will keep the forum updated and will post an URL with a pic when I get the top installed.
I had a 97 F150 with the 4.6l SC.....I had the dual exhausts like what you had/have on yours...it sounded great.....I will probably go with the flowmaster for $350.....I can't find any borla guys around here.....thanks for the info....
Ordered 2000 F250 SD CC 4x4 PSD on August 4, 1999 from Sunset Ford, Phoenix. Cancelled order on October 12th due to potential change in employer subsidy program for a work truck. Program was re-authorized, so I again called up the dealer for a re-order on January 7, 2000. The original order was still in place, so they agreed to keep the previous deal (at dealer invoice)and re-entered my name on the truck order. I'm suspicious that 5 months after the original order there still is no build date!! Original VOC was coded priority 10. Salesman says delivery is currently 6-8 months on this truck type and should be scheduled soon (based on August 4 order date). Is this "smoke" and am I likely to have a much longer wait??
Thanks for the reply....when I put it in 4x4 the light "4x4" does come on on the instrument panel however the ESOF knob panel and 4x2,4x4 Low/High symbols are not illuminated at night. I assume this is by design. Not that it's had to find at night, but my son noticed last night and wondered why. Thanks again.
ezgoin- The dash was probably torn up on the truck you saw in Bangor because they had to change the speedo/odo from kilometers to miles, if in fact the truck came from Canada.
The truck computer can supposedly be recalibrated so that the transmission shift points and speedometer can work correctly with other than stock size tires. I haven't had this done myself, but have seen posts at ford-diesel.com from those who have done it.
mainecowgirl- I'm glad Wiscasset seems to be working out for you. I've bought two vehicles from Frank and have always gotten straight talk and great customer service. When I bought my F-250 SD last April, his wife was driving a new CC Lariat diesel. Good luck.
The info I have from Lund says for the "Lunar" and "Solar" visors" "No exterior holes to drill-mounts inside door rails." So yo are correct. I would not recommend the "SunVisor" or "MoonVisor" if youo live in a windy area. Had "Moonvisor" on my 95 F-150, no problems. Had one on my 97 F-150 and screw kept coming loose. (requires holes drilled in the roof for attachment). I travel through some pretty windy areas (chrispal is probably familiar with the Southpark area of Colorado) and I believe the high cross winds caused the visor to flex too much and kept pulling the screws out. I am considering a "Lunar" for my Y2K F-150 because I like the lights and the different mounting. Good Luck.
May be some truth to the 330K backlog and Ford's awareness of the consumer's unrest with the limited supply. Talked to the GM at my dealer today. I've been making noise regarding the slow pace of getting my truck. Ordered 11/2, still clean and unscheduled (00 F350SD, V10 auto, cc, 4x4, 3.73LS, lb, srw, trailer tow & more). Ford regional rep reported that Ford is increasing their allocation for the next few months and Ford wants a list of their top 30-40 units on order. Instead of 1 CC per week, they will be looking for 2. Great news for me. Also, apparently Ford will be sending those of us who have been waiting a letter and a gift (a Ford duffel bag I understand) to thank us for being so patient. I just want my truck. I am not sure if this is a widespread action by Ford but I tend to think it may be (as far as the letters & gift business goes - everybody's allocation can't be increased) or if they can make the plant crank them out any faster (which I would think not - if they could I think they would be doing so already).
...sounds to me like you and the rest that are waiting for CC's have been heard. Some bean counter at FoMoCo probably messed up the sales forcast and Ford is finally realizing they need to do something to catch up. Good luck getting it soon and believe me, they are worth the wait. Had my SC for a week and don't know how I lived without it.
Thanks for the update. I checked this afternoon...you guessed it, clean and unscheduled. The CC phenomenon is probably one of those things that the market wanted and the marketeers just flat missed. Sort of a lateral departure to the SUV stuff. SDUV, I like it. Oh yeah. Anyone hear about GM's baby hummer? When it grows up it learns the words (I want to be a Ford).
What I want to know is when one of you guys is gonna put a wav file out there so the rest of us "have-nots" can at least hear one of those Borla set ups. PSDs I can hear any old place.
Had a little fun the other day. I downloaded a PSD "crank and start" sound wav. file and put it on a friend's PC (now, this is NOT a truck guy). I set it up as the default sound to run when any program is opened and turned up the sound-when he started back after lunch, he 'bout blasted off. Juevenile? Yeah, but it was funny as...., well you know.
Bring on the Borla! I wanna hear it. Good evening.
Talked with my Fleet salesman at my dealer this PM about something else, and asked him if I were to order a F-250 SD, CC,4X4 Lariat, V-10 today, when could I realistically expect delivery. He told me for them, because they have the allocations, the longest would be 10-12 weeks. He said that is what their orders are currently running. So it still looks like for those of you that ordered in late summer etc. and are still waiting it comes down to the old Allocation as many have said here before.
MaineCowgirl-All used were at Darlings except for one at Whytes. they had a used maroon/Silver 250 SC XLT, but the bed looked like it was used to hall gravel or something. Really banged up. While I was there, I test drove an island blue 250 CC XLT,4x4, 4.10s,V-8, rear slider, cab lights, trailer tow, plow package which I said I was really interested in to buy that week @ 500 over. The saleman said he wouldnt even attempt to run this buy the GM. This was my second trip back for this truck . Unfortunatley, I couldnt talk invoice with them. Lowest they would go was $1790 over (Edmunds)invoice. I SAID..SEE YA.
Dave86/Snowey,I havent found a tire better than the BFG AT for ride quality, $, at that tire size. I would just be !@##$#$#% oops...excited, if I could "slap" those 35's & rims on her the day it comes home. I was @ Dunkins drive thru last week, saw a Black, 250HD, SC, PSD, windows all tinted out, with a 4" lift and monsterous tires-36" Cepeks, looked like 14.5 wide. Talk about a stance. I felt like following him around for a while just to keep looking. Instead, I put my tongue back in my mouth, drank my coffee, and went to work.
For all of you F250 sd 4x4 cc 5.4 5sp. DORA 1/11/00. Ordered from fleet dealer with largest allocation in north texas. Was told 8 weeks. The wait is on. Paid invoice, no haggle, in and out in 2 hours. FDAF assessment 160.00. Didn't argue about it. Nichols Ford, Pam Williams, Fort Worth, Tx.
Just for info, I ordered a Y2k 350 cc dually sb 4x4 V-10 auto with camper, towing, off-road, cab steps, privacy glass/slider, esof, power tt mirrors etc. on Nov 23rd on a priority 15 from a local dealer. By the first week of Dec I was scheduled for a build the week of Jan 10. It slipped a week about 10 days later, but as of last night "as of Jan 19th, your unit is scheduled for build week of Jan 17th with expected delivery to your dealer by Feb 7th." Something like that anyway! Looks like allocation is still a big factor in the process. I'm in Minnesota, sure hope I don't have the delivery delays some of you have experienced. I'm going to make a road trip out west to pick up a slide in camper, so like most now I can start getting a little anxious to see this beast. If delivery holds up, that will be about 11 weeks from order.
I just ordered my truck, 250 XLT CC 4x4 auto PSD with other goodies. I was expecting to have the dealer not except an offer of invoice and I would be spending the next 3 weeks shopping price. I was right. They didn't except invoice, but they did except $4 over plus the $155 Ford Ad Fee.
Now it is all in the wait. And it sounds like it is going to be a long wait 330K orders? wow
If that guy was right, suuuuurely that's 330K TOTAL trucks, not just SDs. Wonder what the production rate is at KTP? sdman, they really need a website.
right?
crazyelvis better buy some FoMoCo stock. What am I saying? That had to be what he bought. +1028%
nope. still no truck! the dealership's going to drive it from the rail head to their place as soon as the thing gets there. note that there's "paper" work to do this (that releases the shipper from liability (& probably places it on the dealer). fortunately, the distance is only around 15 miles so this probably figured into the equation... plus our bitching & nagging & pleading probably helped!
no, we can't fault the dealership (IF they continue to "work" for our best interests). note that railheads are typically NOT this close to dealerships so truck carrier WOULD otherwise be an issue (especially for dually's). also appreciate the support of all in regard to this rather lengthy "after build" wait (built 11.27.99).
Brutus has a great idea in regard to the F450 line. we looked at that because of this line's 26k GCWR. but he noticed the same "things" we did. no diff ratio's under 4.88 or so. the Lariat config wasn't available. and no pickup bed available from the factory (chassis only). it also comes with 19.5 inch wheels. even though Brutus's usage doesn't impact the GCWR it does impact the GVWR (the F450 increases this approx 13.5k limit by 2,500#). he exceeds the GVWR & we're going to be "pushing" that 20k GCWR pretty hard (may even exceed it slightly... especially after installing a 100 gal across-the-bed fuel tank). building a "5th wheel" pickup bed would be great. perhaps with lower siderails, maybe with a "notched" tailgate & 20k hitch availability would be kind of nice. and how about something like that auxilliary fuel tank (RVer's need this as mileage isn't for "squat"). if Ford's "listening up"?? because it doesn't take the larger RV rigs nowadays much to exceed the GVWR/GCWR quite easily. they also need to accommodate the ever increasing size of slide-in truck campers. everything in the RV world is growing except the truck. sizes & configs are just not "keeping" up.
the board's been discussing the issue of online ordering. some may agree or not but here's my .02.
we sold our "trade" outright. had no problem at all "beating" the amount that the dealership would "give". like Brutus (and others) have mentioned; somewhere or other the dealer needs to make a buck. if you get a "good" deal on your trade, you'll generally (but not always) pay more for your new vehicle. it's best to get the #'s & then sell your trade outright... especially if you're ordering a vehicle as there's more than enough time to "move it".
the issue of computer literacy has come up as a possible deterent to online purchases (forget about using security concerns in regard to "plastic card" #'s as a viable issue)... NO ONE is going to "hack" 128 bit encrypted transmissions). and remember when YOU first purchased your computer? "Afraid" to even touch the thing, weren't you? But given enough time (which varies of course) and you THINK you know EVERYTHING! Right? The point here is that people eventually acquire the knowledge necessary to use these things as a "tool" as an "aid" for what they may need/desire to accomplish. sure. How many people have even heard of the good 'ole "DOS" days (hmmn.. just SIX years ago)? You see? it doesn't matter, as the present ALWAYS becomes the past.
Therefore; it is only a matter of time b4 the dealership (as we now know of it) also becomes a part of the past. In fact; much of retail (once again, as we now know it) will also become a part of the past. Probably what will happen is some sort of vendor service center taking "over" as the "former" dealer (a "hat change" so-to-speak). As was mentioned, you'll have "test" centers to "try b4 you buy" (with plenty of net connects around, of course). As was also mentioned, the dealer holdback can certainly pay for this. they probably won't even carry ANY inventory (besides the demo's). Note that DELL computer works like this... NO INVENTORY whatsoever. When you "order" a computer from them, they THEN build it to your specs (the PARTS for the thing may not even be in inventory at "order" time. What will cause something like this to pass is competition (if you don't, someone else sure the hell will). And the fact that EVERYBODY will have a FAST net connect of some kind within 10 years. Everybody. And that's why purchasing a vehicle on-line WILL eventually become the ONLY way to purchase a new vehicle. It WON'T be an "option". It IS just a matter of time.
while we're on this. VOTING will eventually go the same way. NO POLITICIANS! Why should someone "represent" ME? Hell, we're perfectly capable of "representing" ourselves! so a LOT of "change" (like it or not) is a happening.
99s - One more thing to think about the 99s: I recall reading about "piston slap" in some 99 gas engines. I don't recall if the problem was only with V-8s or if it included V-10s. If you are looking at a 99, you may want to look back through Super Duty II. It seems that some people have been able to have the engines replaced and some haven't. Additionally, the 00s seem to get about 2 mpgs better than the 99s.
Exhaust - For those of you with gas engines that want better sound, I highly recommend upgrading to the PSD. (Sorry - I couldn't resist!)
mainecowgirl: dave86 is my account on my laptop at work. When I first wanted to post from that computer, I wasn't sure if I could use my dave84 account (probably could have), so I made a new one.
ESOF switch illumination: On my '99 F250 SC XLT, the ESOF dash switch is illuminated with the parking/headlights on. This includes the line in the center of the switch (on the knob itself) and the lettering around the knob (2WD 4HI 4LO, or whatever it says). Maybe those with a switch that doesn't illuminate have a missing or burned out bulb?
lewac: I hope we never see on-line voting that REPLACES the politicians. How do you debate the issues? Can you imagine 150 million registered voters in one huge chat room? What I do believe will come to pass is on-line voting FOR your elected representatives, and referendum issues. When you register to vote, you'll be issued a PIN that allows you access to a web site where you can cast your vote. Your entry to the web site is controlled, but once you're in and vote, no record of how you voted is made.
My apologies for most of this post being off topic.
Curious-Is it the hole pattern or the bore size that doesnt allow them to fit?
I wanted to look up your truck-What page of that F150 site? Is yours a SD in that site?
Were your tires Buckshot Mudders by any chance? The size is what I bought four for my rig also as they were 36" and fit my stock 16" rims. I leveled my front with 2" add-a-leaves from Skyjacker. I alternate them with the 35 BFG AT's which I run in the summer. I have a photo you might like. I have it in file, Can I attach it somehow here?
That island blue '00 250 CC is still at Whited. How long ago were you there? I am curious if the used maroon/silver '99 was the same one I was looking at. Now that I think about it the salesman made a point to say it had a new bedliner. I guess now I know why. He keeps calling me to "make a deal" on that truck. I had been trying to get him to give me a price for a new one, and he has yet to do that(it's been a week). I have been having an uneasy feeling about that place for the last few days. I am really glad you told me your story. It just seems to confirm what my gut was telling me.
Hello, I have been learning alot about sd from all of the knowledgeable posts on this site.I am purchasing a sd 250 cc 5.4 4x4. I have a question, if someone could help me? The main use of the sd will be family car, very little towing. I am debating on whether I should purchase the SPP package for the heavy duty front springs and rear springs. I will not be using a snow plow since it does not snow where I live. Will the spp level the front and rear or will the truck sit taller?
I agree! A KTP website, or better yet a Ford-sponsored site for various car brands would go onto my favorites list!

I am in the computer biz, so computer stuff is second nature to me, but it really hit me over the holidays on how pervasive computers (and on-line ordering) have become when I got an on-line gift certificate for a well-known golf site from my 69-yr old Dad who three years ago told me he had no idea "what he would do with one of those things". My folks now have two computers - a desktop at home, and a laptop. They bought the laptop to "email with the grandkids" when they go snowbirding in the winter.
FYI to all on ordering the Ford SuperDuty Accessories catalog - I went to the Ford website and clicked the "Shop the Online Store" link, which sends you off to the previously mentioned "www.icollection.com" site. Unfortunately, I cannot seem to access this site, either from work or from home.
I called the Customer Assistance Center, and talked to a gentleman who accessed the same site while I was on the phone with him, and reported that he was able to access the site just fine. Poking into this a little further, I think that the "icollection.com" people have a nameserver problem. Anyone else successfully access this site?
The gentleman at the CAC ordered the catalog for me and told me I should have it in about 10 days.

Thanks all.
Thanks for the advice. I'll be looking for a cat back system now.
Question,
I would like to get an aftermarket gas filler cap that has a key. I read the Ford manual that the will not warranty the vehicle you do.
suggestions?
Make sure you measure those bed widths carefully. I have a 94 F150 shortbed and the bed is basically the same width at both ends. The SD is tapered about 1.5" in on each side for a total rear width about 3" narrower at the tailgate end. Don't know if it matters for what you're doing, but I gotta get a new cover when the time comes. And boy, does that tapered bed look good! Bite your nails, it's a coming!
1. The bolt pattern is the same on the 2000 HD,CC? I ordered the Plow Pack up front w/ trailer tow so I should have enough wheel well to handle them.
2. Will the larger diameter influence the tranny
shifting? I'm prepared for the deviation in the speedo.
thanks

This site is an excellent resource
Floppy
baybear... My ESOF panel does not light up but there is a light in the switch itself
Can anybody post mileage gains for improvements ie; Exhaust, chips, K&N, or other stuff. Thanks
Will keep the forum updated and will post an URL with a pic when I get the top installed.

why. Thanks again.
The dash was probably torn up on the truck you saw in Bangor because they had to change the speedo/odo from kilometers to miles, if in fact the truck came from Canada.
The truck computer can supposedly be recalibrated so that the transmission shift points and speedometer can work correctly with other than stock size tires. I haven't had this done myself, but have seen posts at ford-diesel.com from those who have done it.
mainecowgirl-
I'm glad Wiscasset seems to be working out for you. I've bought two vehicles from Frank and have always gotten straight talk and great customer service. When I bought my F-250 SD last April, his wife was driving a new CC Lariat diesel. Good luck.

Dave84- Did you upgrade to Dave86?
Now it is all in the wait. And it sounds like it is going to be a long wait 330K orders? wow
right?
crazyelvis better buy some FoMoCo stock. What am I saying? That had to be what he bought. +1028%

no, we can't fault the dealership (IF they continue to "work" for our best interests). note that railheads are typically NOT this close to dealerships so truck carrier WOULD otherwise be an issue (especially for dually's). also appreciate the support of all in regard to this rather lengthy "after build" wait (built 11.27.99).
Exhaust - For those of you with gas engines that want better sound, I highly recommend upgrading to the PSD. (Sorry - I couldn't resist!)
dave86 is my account on my laptop at work. When I first wanted to post from that computer, I wasn't sure if I could use my dave84 account (probably could have), so I made a new one.
ESOF switch illumination:
On my '99 F250 SC XLT, the ESOF dash switch is illuminated with the parking/headlights on. This includes the line in the center of the switch (on the knob itself) and the lettering around the knob (2WD 4HI 4LO, or whatever it says). Maybe those with a switch that doesn't illuminate have a missing or burned out bulb?

I hope we never see on-line voting that REPLACES the politicians.
