Sorry to hear about the bad 3.5 liter. That's not a fun thing to have happen. What happened to the lower end of the engine that caused it to fail? Those engines (as opposed to the 2.7 liter) are known to be pretty good. I guess a bad metal casting can slip by now and then. Still, doesn't make for good feelings. I hope you get it resolved to your satisfaction so you can enjoy your nice car. :shades:

I've had a 300M for over 7 years now, and been on the board for at least 6. The 300M did not have a pull to the right problem or any tranny problems of note. What it did have was Badyear tires. Once those were gotten rid of by owners and in 00 by DC, no issues relating to ride ever came up again. Only common problems were input and output sending units on the tranny, not the tranny itself [cheap Japanese parts that cost $15-20 each to replace] and some window regulator and door lock issues. I had the window issue once and a lock issue once. I changed the tranny sensors during a normal service at 60K miles as a preventive maintenance application, not because I ever had trouble with them. I still carry a pair in the glove box along with directions on where they go for AAA to use if one ever fails. The temp sensor issue was raised but I have found over the years that it takes a few minutes for the sensor to recalibrate to the outside temp. after the car is started. Eventually, it does adjust to the correct reading. while the 300M was not "bullet proof," it did not have the issues so frequently written about for the 300 here. :shades:

Has anyone changed their cold air intake on the 5.7 Hemi. I see that there are some for sale on eBay as well as K&N.

If so has there been an increase in HP, MPH? What degree of difficulty is it to remove the stock unit and replace the after market version.. Thanks in advance.

    My alignment was not correct.
I went to Chryslers' web site and clicked on,"contact us".
Answered questions about cars vin number and dealership where car is serviced.
I then told Chrysler my problems with alignment.
The next day Chrysler helped Dealership with alignment tech info.
I scheduled an appointment with dealership to fix alignment and then dealership fixed the problem.
I do not know what adjustment they made, but it works just fine now.

what is a Multiple Dispalcement System (MDS)? that requires 5W20 oil. :confuse:
  • greyfox1greyfox1 Member Posts: 28
The Multiple Displacement System (MDS) is the mechanism that shuts down four cylinders in the 5.7L HEMI used in the Chrysler 300C. In the 300C owners manual Chrysler recommends that 5W20 oil be used in this engine. :)

I bought a 2006 300c made in June of 2005 and have not experienced any tranny problems or steering to the right problems. I did encounter some a/c problems this past fall in hot ambient conditions. The car has 7,000 miles on it now and is a lot of car for the money. After reading all of this forum, I realized that there were a few bad ones that made it off the assembly lines, but not mine
  • dmiller5dmiller5 Member Posts: 30
What A/C problems did you have ? Thanks
  • phillyfanphillyfan Member Posts: 11
Just passed 7000 miles on my 300 c awd manufactured march 05. so far 2 minor problems, seat will not go back automatically when you turn off key, and trans leak. the leak was due to a sensor plug which was replaced and no further problems. no problems with continental tires or pulling to right. live in AZ and the a/c was great this summer even with temps over 110 degrees.
  • rooster8rooster8 Member Posts: 12
IT STOPPED MAKING REAL COLD AIR ON A TEN HOUR TRIP IN 82 DEGREE HUMID TEMP.IF I SHUT THE AC OFF FOR 5 MINUTES AND THEN TURNED IT BACK ON IT WOULD WORK FOR A WHILE AND THEN DO THE SAME THING AGAIN. THE TSB THAT I FOUND THAT SEEMS TO FIT THE PROBLEM IS #2401405. A FRIEND HAD A TOWN AND COUNTRY WITH THE SAME SYMPTOMS AND IT WAS THE "H" VALVE. I AM GOING TO WAIT TILL SPRING TO TAKE IT IN SO THE CONDITION CAN BE DUPLICATED. HOPE THIS HELPS.

I am waiting on my ordered 300C Cool Vanilla.
Dealer called me day before the plant closed. I am not sure where it is at so my wife purchase me a remote controlled black chrysler 300 Hemi and it plays MP3. It is about 28" to 30". I was playing with it today, and noticed that it has a pull to the right. Instructions say to adjust with screw driver as needed. I hope this doesn't happen to my real 3oo.

Last few weeks I hear a whistling noise from the engine (3.5 L) when cold. Goes away after a minute or two as engine warms.
Has anyone experienced a similar problem?
  • ckntulsackntulsa Member Posts: 1
I've had my new 300C for just a few weeks and I love it. I've only got 3 problems and maybe someone can help with them before I take it back to the dealer. The first problem is the on again/off again auto up feature on my driver window. I've seen the comments on this and will pass it on to the dealer. I haven't seen any comments on the other 2: excessive wind noise on the front passenger side and a knocking coming from in front of the driver. Does anyone have any suggestions?
  • youtellmeyoutellme Member Posts: 14
OH No!!!! I have had a knocking noise and only had 7000 miles on it .They replaced the lower end of my motor ,short block. Not Happy  That did not fix it so they replaced my transmission. They had the car for around 45 days,I pick it up on 12-30 and now i have a shimmy in the tranny,Torque converter is bad and the knocking noise is back!Fighting with chrysler ,they are gonna buy it back but I am gonna lose money on the deal so I am going to seek the Lemon Law cause lords knows i qualify for it Good Luck

I have to say the 300C had to be one of the most dissapointing cars I've ever seen. Dont take it the wrong way, I personally liked the 300C and was really, really, really, going to buy one for 31K with every option except the rear entertainment option.

But what stopped me was the fact that I've read that this car had WAY TOO MANY PROBLEMS I love the exterior and the interior but the problems with the car, held me back and was very dissapointed. And the fact that Lexus came out with the new IS 350.

    And a question for everyone:
"Was the 300 worth every penny?" THANKS
  • mbutler1mbutler1 Member Posts: 22
Tequila? Where have you been? Been waiting to send you the pics of my 2nd new 300c. I see youve also made your decision about the car too{smile}. Wish I could say something to change your decision. But to each its own. Guess I can only say I dont blame you when theres so many problems with Chrysler product... get back with me. "peace"
  • starboatstarboat Member Posts: 1
So, what I am hearing from everyone is NOT to buy the 300, correct?
  • suave_tequilasuave_tequila Member Posts: 116
Hey what up MButler1, I've been here waiting for you to post something since I thought you weren't visiting this website at all! Good to see that your back anyways I'll try to see if I can post my info (email, etc) yeah but I still want to see your pimped out 300!

BTW I'm always checking this website at least 3 times a day so I'll be on anytime esp. after 5pm pacific.

As for the 300, well, every car has an issue but this has way too many of them and if they fix every problem with-in the next 4 months I'll for sure then consider one, I've seen the new Imperial (or something) which looks like a baby Rolls Royce looks nice!!! :D

    "Peace"
  • mbutler1mbutler1 Member Posts: 22
Hey Tequila: Sure glad to hear from you again. And espescially to hear you havent given up on the 300. I do agree with you completely that every auto has its ups and down about something{including mine as you know}. But thats what dealerships or lemon laws are for. Im still putting my 2nd one[300c]together again. The holidays slowed things that I had ordered in. So the lower rocker panel suppose be in this week. The window tint the next week. And then the Rolls Royce grill the next week. THEN I'LL SHOW BOAT IT TO YOU{smile}. :D
  • suave_tequilasuave_tequila Member Posts: 116
Aight... Looking forward to see it!

Hey MButler1, is it true that Chrysler stopped making that "Cool Vanilla" color? Since I liked that color and the black! And I'm still going to add the vertical doors! :)

Bought this in April for the wife to drive, around 13,000 miles she tells me it is "stuttering, and vibrating" sometimes. We take it in and they replace the torque converter after some convincing from us that we have a problem. That didn't seem to help totally..still feel stuttering occasionally..... today it went back to the dealer and they say they will replace the fluid three times manually and this should fix its problems!
Anybody else ever heard of this as a cure to a transmission problem and if this doesn't work what have others demanded they do to correct similar problem???
  • hillguyhillguy Member Posts: 1
My 300C has short, sharp sounds coming from the sun roof. It sounds like when the body has the slightest twist, as on a road with bumps, or crossgrooves, the sunroof area makes these creeking sounds. My 5star says they tightened all the bolts retaining the sun roof, but since that didn't help they are replacing the sun roof.
  • lennylenny Member Posts: 29
Yes this should fix the problem. They had water from the AC getting into the Transmission fluid. The "fix" is to change the fluid three times to flush out all the water and make sure you have only clean non-contaminated fluid. Other posts have shown this to fix the problem.

Can anyone provide me with assistance on my UConnect And Bluetooth Technology problem. Just purchased a Sprint very high end phone with bluetooth technology for my new 300c. Followed both phone and car instructions for connecting devices keep getting a "no phone active" error message when dialing out or receiving phone calls.
  • youtellmeyoutellme Member Posts: 14
NO !!!!!!! I will not buy a 300 again.Chrysler did "buy back" mine with 7000 miles on it. I had to buy another product from them so I will be picking up my new Charger this week, with a Hemi ,5 speed tranny.Everything differt from the 300 drive train.I am praying that this will be the car of my dreams!!!My "OLD" 300 is now in need of its third transmission, about its 85th day in the shop!May it rest in peace!!! ;);) :lemon:

I got my '06 300C in July and at around 3000 miles it also developed a tranny shudder. The dealer said the problem was water in the tranny because the fill pipe was under the A/C drain; apparently they have a Mopar bulletin to fix it. They modified the pipe, replaced the torque converter and flushed the whole transmission. Seems as good as new now.
  • ptcruzzinnptcruzzinn Member Posts: 2
Thanks for the information concerning our tranny problem... just got the car back a couple of days ago and it seems to running much better! I have my fingers crossed that it will stay this way!!!!
  • vic10vic10 Member Posts: 188
Maybe I was just lucky. Took delivery of my 300C in Sept. 05. Only 16K miles so far. No pulling to the right, though it is very sensitive to road crown. No tire wear issues. No operational problems with transmission, though at 15K noticed tranny fluid in the garage. The dealer confirmed bad seals (apparently common problem) and replaced them. Once the radio's volume control stopped working, but came back the next day and has been fine for over a year. Once lost the express up/down window feature but followed the Owners Manual and got it back. That was a year ago. Only persistent issue is one passenger window that only works on very cold days or very hot days and ALWAYS at the dealer. Averages 20 mpg. Goes like stink. Looks luscious in Magnesium pearl--still turns heads. Makes me smile every time I walk into my garage. Not another car out there, regardless of price, that does that for me. Worth every penny..... Oh, and P.S.: The dealer--Crown in Tulsa--is EXCELLENT.

I've seen a lot of comments on here about various transmission problems with the 300. Some of the posts don't indicate what year their vehicle is.

I'm looking at leasing a 2006 300c loaded with the Navigation system.

I was wondering how many people out there might be having problems with the same year/model, or if DC has found the problem and corrected it for 2006.

I'm coming out of a 2004 Infiniti M45 that is being bought back by Infiniti under the Lemon Law. I've had 2 Jags prior to the M that were also lemons and don't care to repeat history again.

    Any advise is much appreciated.

I just bought the 300 Touring. I read this site prior to buying. Gave me some insight and allowed me to hammer the sales rep at my "5-Star" and still get a good deal. My 300 is great so far, and I'm happy with it. I'll let you know how it proceeds from here.

Wow, I guess I really don’t understand these posts. I got my 05 Chrysler 300C in August of 2004. Nothing but happiness since then except for the %#%*# Continental tires. No tranny issues, no wind leak, no complaints at all. I’ve got 19.5K on it now and my experience mirrors the long term test at “Automobile” Magazine. Their 7 or 8 months into a full years test and using 12 drivers report no issues.

My 300C goes like hell and gives me a rush whenever I take it out. My Wife usually takes it so I end up with here Camry. It’s a pretty good car except for loosing head gaskets (2) and requiring no-doz because its as boring as driving a toaster.

    Regards to all
  • varobvarob Member Posts: 15
including the Continental Tires. Chrysler---how could you put such trash on this outstanding car.

I've got 23K miles on my 2005 Limited. It was recalled for the upper radiator support brackets, and my local Dodge dealer replaced all four. Great service-great car. My kids gave me the E&G Double Mesh Grill for Christmas and I added the lower vent mesh grill as well. I'm sorry about the problems that 300C owners seem to be having, but I've had no problems with mine. Y'all take care.

Great site. Has helped with dealer battles. I have a 2005 300 sign. Touring edition. I am having continuing dealer issues regarding transmission vibration. Vibe at 60..Replaced Torque Converter...Vibration at 70, flushed trans......Vibe at 80, statement from dealer "Not responsible for anything over posted speed limit"....I know, that is what I said...Just looking for ammunition from anyone that has been down this road before and has some advice. Due to meet with "regional" rep tomorrow.

Hi...I am having a problem with my 300C especially at speeds of 50 to 57 where the car just vibrates. You can feel it in the seat and when I am driving at night time, the headlights in the mirrors are blurred by the vibration I am encountering. Chrysler service rep admited that Chrysler was aware of the problem in a few of their cars till I started the Lemon Law process.....now I am being told by all that there is no vibration and the car is normal. I am shocked at this for I took the tech for a ride on the highway to show him the problem and he admited and told me he would see what he could do.....now that same rep told me that he cant feel anything. Sigh!

Wondering who else is experiencing their 300 cutting out while being driven. My daughter's has done this several times, often locking up the steering wheel. The first two times the car went into the dealership over this happening, the dealership hooked up the computer and since there was not an 'error' reading on th ecomputer they said nothing was wrong. Third time in the shop, my son-in-law saw 5 other 300s sitting there with the same dying out problem. Even with 6 cars sitting in their garage the dealership still refused to say there were any issues. The forth time it died while going down the street, in a rain storm, the wheels locked but the car was thrown to the left. My daughter almost ended up head-on in traffic with her small daughters in the car. The cement divider caught her from going all the way over. The front tire exploded and rims were shot on the front and back. The dealership REFUSED to even look at the car, said there is no issue.

Please let me know who else is having this issue. Also, per the lemon law here is CA - you do not have to use the dealership when issues/repairs come up. Especially, if they deny problems when they look at your car for repairs. Take it to Ford or some other certified repair shop. It still counts for the 30 days towards them taking the crap back. These cars are deadly, I almost lost my child and granddaughters. Note: She has had several small repairs on things with the car on top of this issue.
  • csnyder1csnyder1 Member Posts: 3
Take it to a certified shop that is not associated with the Chrysler name. They will review and write up the car. If they can honestly repair it, they will. The time spent at the other shop can be used towards your lemon law case. Chrysler cannot stop you from using another shop.

I had a problem with my A/C this summer...I would get condensation build-up on the console near the clock and the 2 vents to the point where there was enough water to run down into the radio! This was like someone poured water on the dash and elt it run down. Anyone else have an issue like this? Of course Crudsler said it was becasue it was humid out....idiots. Never buyin another DCC car! Watin' on the new Camaro!

I have the same vibration problem between 50 and 57. Has anyone found a solution to the problem?
