I bought a 06 300C AWD in March and after 8000 miles no problems or regrets. Traded in a 05 Ford Five Hundred LTD AWD that I was disappointed in for several reasons. For me the Chrysler has been a much better car.

I purchased a 2006 300C on July 11th. It currently has 250 miles on it and the EVIC display has gone totally dark 2 or 3 times for periods up to 2 minutes. The dealer's service writer says they can do nothing unless they see the problem. Has anyone else had this problem?

It is a beautiful car yes , it is a comfterable yes , but NO on the car because what good is beauty and comfort when you can't feel coffident in going somewhere without worring about the car not starting or stalling out.
Family saftey is important to me and I have totaly lost faith in this car .

Took delivery of my 300C in Sept 2004. Total problems:
    1. Easy exit automatic seat retraction stopped working. Found out I can easily reset the memory.
    2. Express down windows wouldn't express. Similar to (1)--very easy for me to reset memory.
    3. One passenger window operated intermittently. Controller replaced.
    4. Lost volume on radio one time. Worked fine next engine start and hasn't repeated in past year.
    5. Yes, have wheel corrosion issue still being discussed.

Not too bad I would say. Always starts at the flick of the key. Has never stalled. Doesn't shake. Doesn't pull to the right. Transmission shifts like it was direct wired to my brain. Tire wear is perfectly even. Average gas mileage is 20 mpg. Great aircon in Tulsa's 100+ temps. Excellent handling at any speed. And WOW acceleration. Better than my last Buick that needed two engine changes within the first 24k miles. If someone gave me $50K to buy a new car. I'd say no thanks, I'll keep this one.... Go for it man !!!

That is true, who wants to look good broken down on the side of the road. Did you personally own one? What happened with it, if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks for replying I have received mixed signals between the loyalists who have no problems and the victims who bought this and felt bad due to the constant repairs and visits to the repair shops. Thanks .

here at Edmunds. I don't think you'll find a single one that doesn't have lemons scattered here and there. First and foremost, try to get info on your dealer, regardless of what car you buy. A bad one can make a good car seem like a lemon, and a bad one can turn a lemon into lemonade....

I have been, believe me I know that there are other models if not all that have some problems. The thing is I have seen new 300Cs off the lot and have problems where as to nissan, toyota, Lexus the majority of problems are on cars that are 3 years old or more. And people come on there and ask others what they think is wrong.

I understand a company having a few problems, however the compnay shuld stand behind the product. This will go a long ways in establishing comsumer confidence.

I just purchased a Certified-Previously-Owned (CPO) 2006 300C. After driving it about 400 miles (have had it about 4 days), it stalled twice on the way home today during stop and go traffic and in very hot weather (100 degrees). Do you know the TSB # for the issue you mentioned on 5/25/05? I can't find it at the NTSB site.... thanks!

Alright, I have had enough with this car. I have purchased the car on May 31 and have had nothing but problems with it since.

    Here are the following problems:

    - tranny jerks when going from park to reverse.

    - tranny shifts hard when going from 1st to 2nd.

    - car nearly stalls when stopped at a stop light
**this only happens after the car is warm, a/c is running, vehicle is in drive, brake is applied**
I have been able to get this problem to happen with my sales rep but the service manager tried to tell me today that it is from the cooling fan kicking in.

    - rear windows won't go down when needed - intermediate problem

    - the car won't shift when accelerating to get on the highway. I take that back, it does shift only after I let off the gas or the car red-lines. Of course the dealarship is located in a downtown setting and it is several cumbersome miles to get to the highway.

    - cd has been stuck in the nav system *that was replaced today with a refurbished only to have the scrolling stick not work.

    - car pulls to the right *dealership has adjusted but still pulling.

    - brakes seem to be spongy most of the time, however, sometimes when applied they seem to add an extra force for no reason.

Specs: miles 2967, purchased May 31, 2006, price 36,070.00 (sticker price), satisfaction with service and follow up: NONE, still waiting to receive my loan information (I have already made 2 payments), still waiting to receive title and plates (temporary plates expired June 30, 2006), Number of days in the shop: 5, total number of hours on the car 93:25:49.

Does anyone have any interest or suggestions?!
    Thanks!

I purchased my 2005 300 in Dec 04. At 5,000 miles my ESP/BAS light would come on (light goes off when you restart the car). I took the car to my dealer 4 times throughout the next year only to be told they could not find any codes so nothing was wrong (of course the light never came on for them). I took it in last Thursday and the dealer claimed to manually go through the entire ESP system and found no problems. The light came on three days later and I immediately took the car to the dealer and showed them the light was on! They "claimed" to find the problem, there was faulty wiring on the steering sensor which they replaced and checked the system which in their words was fine. 45 minutes after I left the dealership the light came back on, so I immediately took the car back. My car has 37,000 miles, this started at 5,000 miles and the dealer can not figure it out. Has anyone else had this problem??

Do you have another dealership in your area? Sounds like they are incapable of fixing anything for you properly.
  • neeneneene Member Posts: 2
They are the only Chrysler Dealer around me. I am going to call Chrysler and file a complaint. This has been going on too long.
  • xtecxtec Member Posts: 354
As long as you have proof that you brought your car in for the same problem more then 4 times, you qualify for the lemon law.Or you can ask for a buy back.Someone on the 300
forum had alot of problems with his car and asked for a buy back and got it.I did it in 2001 on a Chrysler Sebring. With a buy back you don't lose money like you would with the lemon law.I would go to your service manager and explain the problems you have had and see what he can do to start the process.Good Luck.

I have an 05 Touring and I experienced this issue both at idle and every morning upon starting the car. The problem was a buildup of carbon on top of the piston heads. This resulted in a lack of compression in the combustion chamber resulting in, of coarse, rough idle when at a stop. The dealership decided to do a combustion chamber cleaning, fuel injection cleaning and rotated my valve springs. Now the car is very smooth again- no rough idle even with the A/C on. Sometimes I feel a very slight engagment of the air conditioner turning on but not an more then any other car i've driven. I'm wondering if anyone else has sort of a rough shift out of park, especially in cold weather- sometimes it jerks forward, any advice would be appreciated. Even with the few problems I've had i like the car.

How true, anyone who builds good and bad cars, should stand behind there product, with any new purchase when the product is good I will talk of it praises, when it's a bad product and cant be repaired properly, there should be a refund or replacement with NO hassles, cars or otherwise...

Okay, I bought my 300C July 16, 2006 CPO with 16,000 Miles on it. I have 18,300 now and the car is scheduled to go into the shop again this Friday, I was just wondering if anyone were having these issues as well:

    * Auto-Up feature on Driver's side works when it wants to (working right now), Dealer couldn't duplicate the problem

    * Alignment jerks to the left & right
    * Slight vibration through steering wheel (even on smooth roads, especially at highway speeds)

    * Tranny jerks a bit when coming out of park to reverse or reverse to drive
    * Sometimes tranny jerks (slightly) while driving
    * If I were to accelerate then let go of the gas pedal I have a "severe" downshift and loose my transmission for like 30 seconds. When I hit the gas the car does nothing but "rev" up and slow down.

    * Radio won't come in first 30 seconds, started doing this just the other day, but now it comes on right away.

    * Molding striping on roof coming loose (getting these replaced, they have them in now)

I like the looks and features of this car, but at this point I’m sort of frustrated with some of these issues and I may not buy another Chrysler product. (This is my first Chrysler product, my co-workers warned me about Chrysler, I should’ve listened!)

--My Auto-up "fails" probably once a month. I just re-check in the manual the reset procedure and drive off. Never asked the dealer to look into it.
--What you're probably feeling is an overly sensitive front end. See some of the previous posts. The car is very sensitive to road crown and unevenness. If you are a light touch driver you will likely overcorrect and only make the situation appear worse. Hold 'er steady and just enjoy the ride.
--Sometimes the shifting is less smooth than expected, especially when motor/transmission is cold. Hasn't caused a problem in 23K miles.
--I think what you're experiencing is called transmission windup. Happens to me only with a fast accel and only when I lift off abruptly in 1st or 2nd gear. That's a characteristic of the Mercedes transmission (and probably the problem of having to deal with all the torque). The only solution is to train your right foot...or maybe use the Auto-Stick when you think you're going to be putting yourself into that situation.
--Might be similar to the loss of volume problem experienced by some people. Supposedly there's a software fix. Happened to me twice, about a two weeks apart. Last time was over a year ago. Disappeared without dealer intervention.
--My problem is a rubber seal on the front edge of the passenger rear window. I just push it back. Nothing else has come loose on the car... No more rattles than there were the first day (and there were a couple).

I'd gladly deal with these glitches in this great car than drive anything else out there...

I had several of the same problems, the fix was a buy back from the dealer, now I have a 2006 same color and equipment level and no problems. I had to take it back about 8 times before they bought it back. By the way a phone from my lawyer to the dealer helped. I wish you well in getting your problem resovled.

My Instrument cluster lights do not come on. How did you get your's to work? Did you have to replace the entire instrument cluster or what? Help! I love my car, but can't see my speed at night! Very frustrating!
  • mrwright06mrwright06 Member Posts: 5
It seems I'm not the only one having the same issues, however even the car is telling me there is something wrong. My malfunction light often stays on during driving cycles, so the computer/sensor is saying something just isn't right.

As for the other poster, I do hope that these issues are fixed without any hassel. This will be the first time putting in the shop for the tranny/alignment and second time being in the shop all together.

Anyone have their seats stolen? Mine were stolen today in my driveway. Thay cut the power somehow and then popped the drivers window out than took the fron passengers seat and the back seat. Wondering if this is common...

    Hello,
I do own one at this time the same one that I've been having problems with it's going in the shop again monday now for the 11th time , I'm working with my lawyers trying to get Crysler to buy it back , My car is shaking at redlights, stalling sitting and while moving, making very loud noises when the "fan"? comes on, if you stand by it when this noise comes on you have to move because you can't stand by it or let alone talk to someone can't hear over the noise !
Anyway sorry for the slow reply i'm just so discusted in all this mess, rite now , nothing would give me more pleasure then to ram a couple sticks of dynamite up the tail pipe and let it blow !

I have to disagree with that. If I have trouble with a car, I _will_ say as much as I wish to say.

I'm here to update you on my current situation. I took my car in with the list of problems above, and one of the "tech" guys was able to duplicate the problem with the tranny, in fact the car did a complete stop on him.

Right now I'm driving some Suzuki Verona (no 300C.. :() and they'll probably have the car for at least a week. I'm currently waiting on a call from them to see what they are going to do about the issue.. like what they're going to do.
  • mrwright06mrwright06 Member Posts: 5
I would have to agree with you, especially when you pay over $30,000 for a car, you have a right to say as much as you wish when you have trouble with it.
  • sjavery0627sjavery0627 Member Posts: 1
Yes,I agree, you would think when you pay this much for a vehicle, the dealership would try their best to take care of the problem and do it right! I have had my 300 in the dealership three times for a transmission jerk and it is still doing the same thing. They did not even have the courtesy to speak with me about what they had found or what they were suppose to have done about it. I also love my car, it is a beautiful vehicle and at first drove smooth and rode smooth. Ever since I have had my 300 it has had a lot of road noise, which I believe is the lousy tires they put on them, which they do not want to admit to. You would think that Chrysler Corporation would be behind us on this, but they are not because they do not own the dearlerships, which is a bunch of bull  At this point I will never buy another Chrysler, this is also my first one and last one.
  • dale14dale14 Member Posts: 1
I am the unhappy owner of a 2005 Chrysler 300 Touring AWD. It was purchased in Feb. 2005 and after 5000kms. the road noise had started. At 16,000kms. we had to buy new tires and now at 30,000 kms. we need to buy new tires again. The tires were Continental Self sealing and they are so scalloped that the noise is unbearable. This car has had so many alignments and tire rotations that we now have to buy all new wheel nuts. Chrysler would not cover the tires so we had to go to Continental and fight our own battles for new ones. This time we are on our own. I can't understand how they expect to sell cars if they produce expensive vehicles that need tires every 10 months. I have never been so disgusted and this is my first and last Chrysler.

My Fiance and I purchased our car with only 15,580 miles June of 2005 and everything was great up until a few months ago. We now have 27,000 miles on it.

We found that we were filling up more frequently so I began monitoring MPG. The car went from 21MPG to 16.5MPG.

I have been on top of the maintenance and even doing maintenance earlier than suggested.

    1. Oil changed every 3 months (approx. 2600 miles).

    2. Just had Recall work done to transmission so tranny fluid has been replaced.

    3. Had radiator flushed at last oil change.

    4. Replace engine air filter when dirty. (inspect once a month) Just purchased K&N High Performance Filter that is designed for the stock intake housing. "Has gained the engine more horsepower but has not changed the fuel efficiency."

    5. Get tires rotated at every oil change.

PCV valve is being replaced next week.

Does anyone know what could be wrong? :confuse:
  • xtecxtec Member Posts: 354
I put a K&N filter on my car and went from 20mpg to 18.I lost power and MPGs with the K&N.I put the stock filter back in which is a high flow filter and everything went back to normal.I would try fuel injection cleaner on your next fill up.With 27k there could be dirty injectors that will kill mileage.Make sure you get a name brand that says super concentrate on it.
  • chrysler300guychrysler300guy Member Posts: 2
Thanks XTEC. ;) I will definately give a fuel injector cleaner a try on my next fill up tomarrow. I hope that will resolve the problem along with the PCV valve change.

I have been using fuel from QT (Quick Trip) since I have had my car. I decided that I would change back to CHEVRON fuel on my last fill up since I have never had a bad experience using CHEVRON fuel on my past vehicles.

I drove a company 2001 Intrepid for a couple of years and when in cruise control, not only would it accelerate to maintain speed uphill, but it would also downshift to maintain speed downhill. Was great for driving through the Adirondacks. My 300C doesn't maintain speed downhill--not a big issue in OK but still, it's a feature I miss. Any idea why it wasn't maintained?
  • lacadelacade Member Posts: 12
The downshift to maintain speed is only available with the 4 speed automagics.
  • greyfox1greyfox1 Member Posts: 28
The reply by lacade is incorrect. I have a '06 300C and it does downshift as needed in cruise. We drove the hills of South Dakota, Wyoming, and Montana last summer and the cruise maintained really well, including downshifts when needed. This summer in the mountains of Colorado, autostick worked extremely well, also. :)
  • lacadelacade Member Posts: 12
Hmm, I am sure I read it in some mag that the C didn't downshift. I stand corrected.
  • xtecxtec Member Posts: 354
If you read your owners manual it states the speed control system maintains speed up and down hills.A slight speed change on moderate hills is normal. Most people questions could be answered if they read their owners manual.
  • vic10vic10 Member Posts: 188
Although you're both right, I still don't have my answer. Just went out to check the manual and it does state the system will maintain speed uphill and downhill. It also states that the FOUR speed transmission may downshift to maintain speed. Doesn't say what the Hemi's FIVE speed will do. Mine doesn't downshift and it doesn't maintain speed downhill so looks like I have a question for the dealer at the 24K check.....
  • xtecxtec Member Posts: 354
The manual does mention autostick mode.It should work with any transmission 3-4-5 speeds. The purpose of cruise control is to keep the speed you set.Like the manual says on moderate hills speed will change. If you speed control is not holding the speed you set going up or down hills that aren't steep, then you do have issue with your cruise control.I had a Eagle Vision that wouldn't hold speed going up hills, and they changed the module and took care of the problem.Good luck.

We have had our 2002 300 for 2 years (second owners). After the first few weeks of excitement wore off, we noticed that the steering wheel shimmies or shakes while driving around 40 miles and up. When we asked the dealership about it, we were told it was the "Sports Model" and that happens. Over time it go progressively worse, specially with tire rotations. We then refused rotations as it made the shimmying worse. We then had a local repair shop replace the brakes and rotate the tires. This helped somewhat, but not noticeably. Then we changed the rotors and it made a big difference! But still the minor steering wheel shimmy. Does anyone else have this??? It makes your hands and wrists ache when you are on a long trip. Any suggestions???
  • xtecxtec Member Posts: 354
I had this problem when I had my '94 Eagle Vision.I had three tires that the belts shifted in the tire.It felt like you were driving with a flat tire. When you mention that rotations made it worse, makes me think you have the same problem. You did a elimination with the brakes and rotors,so
I would check your tires. If thats not it,check the CV joints on your front axle.I'm assuming your talking about a 300M.
  • vic10vic10 Member Posts: 188
Did a test this morning on a steep hill. Yes, the 5-speed tranny will downshift. Unfortunately it did that when I was 10 mph over the set speed. Here in OK they have zero tolerance on 75MPH roads so that won't work for me,unless I set the cruise at under 70MPH, Wonder if you can reprogram the trip speed for downshifting....
  • vince19vince19 Member Posts: 2
I drove my car to the store yesterday and now I am stuck in my Driveway as it will not shift out of park!I have 14k miles on it and bought it in 04.

so sorry to hear of your problem.. with 14 thousand miles , you should still have a warranty ... good luck with a resolve in your favor.. :)
