I would take a serious look at that if I was buying now. Seems like a fair deal.

with all that power, 5 speed is probably plenty of gears.

From what I have read, the 7-speed increased acceleration and efficiency, although fueleconomy.gov states 17/23 vs 16/23. So maybe not so much.

I doubt that you will see a noticeable difference in acceleration. and certainly the 5 speed is not going to be at all slow. And MPG is going to be mediocre anyway.

I assume it is the dark cherry one in Lodi. Looks nice. Love the colors. Minor bump on the carfax, but it is the cheapest one out there by far, so good deal if legit.

Speaking of fuel economy, a friend of mine just got a new Prius. He was driving us around last night - the fancy trip computer that recounts previous trips showed he was consistently in the mid-50's for mpg, and often hit 60. And he drives almost exclusively in "sport" mode.

Pretty impressive car actually - nice quiet ride and seemed to accelerate quickly in that sport mode.

Still don't like the exterior of this new model though - if I ever got that itch for such a hybrid, I'd go for the previous model Prius, or sacrifice some MPG for a CT200h.

that other EX, I found it on cars.com, and they had a link to the carfax.

this one? Love the car. Like the price. Hate the colors. Really don't want a black exterior, but can live with it with a light interior. And trying to avoid black guts if at all possible. Putting the 2 together, would have to be a hell of a deal!

OK, this one I want or you should get as a toy. Love the colors. and a manual trans. Top goes down (I assume!). And man, look at that price. If this think moves under it's own power, has to be worth $995! Can part it our for more than that.

Pretty sure Hyundai's track package is the way the Genesis coupe was designed by the engineers prior to the bean counters cost cutting the heck out of the car.

rough shape on that volvo, but with the manual trans, you could have a lineup of people on swedespeed wanting to buy it. Looks like the ABS light is on.

Heck, maybe I should buy it just to take the wheels and put them on my s70.

In the spirit of Halloween, I had a car-related nightmare while I was asleep last night. I had attended some event (the details are always scant in my dreams), and when I decided to leave, all the cars in the parking lot had their hoods and windshields ripped out and stolen. I couldn't find my car. When I pressed the remote to try to honk the horn, it would randomly trigger the lights and horn of a completely different car in the parking lot to flash.

(I also have the relatively common recurring nightmare where all your teeth fall out, FWIW...)

Huh. I had a dream a few nights ago that involved the Jetta.

I was in Richfield, UT (a common overnight spot when I drive from CO to CA), and I remember getting onto I-70 westbound and getting up to cruising speed (75 MPH).

The next thing I remember, I was pulling off the highway and parking the car. Where? No idea - but, I couldn't find the car when I went looking for it. Walked around the building - nothing.

    Odd.

Huh, I dreamed I was camping on the beach at Galveston and woke up at 3 am, opened up the rear hatch on the van, got some junk out, locked the car, tossed the keys in the back and slammed the hatch.

my neighbor a few houses down has a Legacy, I think the same color (the lighter blue). every time I go by, I comment (well, if the wife is with me) about how nice it looks. I really do like these.

he must not be that concerned with 0-60 times, since he has that and wife has a 2.5i outtback. Though he does have a nice dark blue 911 coupe to make up for it (not sure what year, but early in the water cooled generation I think. must be in the 2000s somewhere. That is a nice looking car).

@stickguy - Thank-you for the compliment. I happen to like the car too. I love the color. I love the Lapis Blue over Ivory/Black interior. It rides great. Very compliant without feeling like I'm driving my couch. I like the way it handles with the thicker rear sway bar. I just wish it had more giddy up (and a little less wind noise). The car has been reliable and very dependable over the last 25 months & 40K miles. Maintenance costs are reasonable. My dealer's service department is 1st rate. I owe less than $15K on it.

I spend so much time either cruising on the highway between 65 & 70 or sitting in bumper to bumper traffic that it's hard to justify another punch. I'm sure the 3.6R Limited with its 265 hp H6 is faster than my car (although it weighs more), but is it worth punching the card for the exact same car (with leather & the 6)? A WRX Limited would also make a good candidate, but would end up costing a lot more than my car did 2 years ago. Both the Legacy 3.6R & WRX Limited lease well due to their high residuals. Subaru only charges $.15 per mile over.

My house does need a new deck, driveway, furniture to go with the new deck, we want to redo the fire place...

update on my son's quest to replace his Jetta with an A3. The dealer he is working with tried to trade for the only incoming unit meeting his specs, but the allocated dealer for whatever reason would not release it. since they couldn't find anything else close in the system, so he just ordered one exactly the way he wants it. Dealer says is should arrive sometime between 1/1- 2/13 (possibly earlier, but likely in that range). Needless to say, he is antsy. But, financially, works out better since his lease return has to happen by 2/19, so this times out well.

getting Cosnos blue over Chestnut. Premium plus and sport package. Gonna be really nice. I think the only thing he is not getting is the pricey LED light package.

out of curiosity, specced out a legacy sport. pretty much has all the stuff I need, but have to add eyesight package to get BLIS. Not sure I want all that active stuff, but that is the way they package it up. not exactly cheap that way, but respectably loaded. just over 29k, depending on accessories added.

I sometimes toy with the idea of getting a V6 Accord. But experience tells me that it would not make much of a difference and that I'd be driving the same car. I had a '96 Mazda Millenia that I leased for 24 mo and then bought a '98 Millenia that was virtually identical to the '96. Nothing wrong with the '98, but I traded it within 18 months as I wanted something different. No complaints about the Accord. It has been a joy to own and drive. The mileage that I drive has reduced greatly to about 1k a month down from 2k as I look for a new job. After almost 29 years the dept that I managed was merged and my position eliminated. Such is life with a big company. The Accord has had only regular maintenance, tires and battery at 61k and its first alignment last week when I had an oil change. They said the original brake pads are still thick and are fine. At 62k, I am pleased. I do like to ponder what I'm going to buy next, but I have other priorities now!

A few of the Dads on my son's hockey team have some cool pickup trucks. One guy has a GMC Sierra 1500 with the "all terrain" package (GMC equivalent to Z71). It's a sharp looking truck for sure. There are ALWAYS deals on them, they seem to lease rather well, and there is an optional 6.2L V8 that hustles to 60 in the 5s. The downside is of course size. My Dad's Tahoe seems like it is already a tight fit in the garage at work & this thing (with the short box) is a full two feet longer.

That brings us to the mid size pickups, which aren't so mid sized anymore (nor are they cheap). I'm not sure if the GMC Canyon diesel ever qualifies for the crazy GM incentives nor if they lease well. Most dealers only seem to have 1 or 2 diesel Canyons in stock with sticker prices in the mid $40K range. Maybe they have good residuals, but not so great money factors?

Last but not least is the pickup truck that most pickup buyers SHOULD be buying, The Ridgeline. I like its looks, the bed is highly configurable, nice interior, should have a comfortable ride, decent power. The top of the line model is a cool BLACK edition (low $40s though - ouch).

I know. I have serious issues:)

The Colorado / Canyon are way popular; thus, they don't have very good lease numbers. Same for the Ridgeline.

As others have mentioned, the return of a turbo Legacy would be welcome and I don't think it'd infringe much on WRX sales. Different audience for the most part. Heck, I'd even say limit the transmission on the Legacy to auto only! Keep that exclusive to the WRX.

@nyccarguy - I get it with the trucks. With the boys' baseball games and tournaments, pickups are very popular in the parking lot, and many are very nice indeed. Throwing all that gear in the back of a truck (with a nice cover, of course) is appealing.

I've flirted with the Tacoma. And while I like the looks of it, I wholeheartedly agree with you that the Ridgeline would be perfect for my use, what with its more car-like ride and such.

The V8 Powered, ladder box, full sized, domestic pickups are just so damn manly & cool.
