I'd definitely pay the extra $10K to get a C6 Z06, over the C5. (just guessing on the price delta)

I like the older CLK 550 models, if you want a Mercedes coupe. But, hard to find, and likely high miles, by now.

thanks Pens. I like the Si, but not wanting to pay the premium for silly low miles, especially since it pretty much just sat for the last 13 years.

I also am one of the few that likes the next generation "bread van" version. I almost scored one of them cheap when the run was done and they had some leftovers they couldn't unload.

    Is that the EP-3?

That's the one I like, as well, but the enthusiasts all hate it. I guess because the later ones had better performance numbers. I think it's cool, though.

My Aunt had one of those.  She loved it, and missed it when stepping up to the next generation.  She always thought the older one was more fun to drive.

It had a really odd placed shifter IIRC

They were practically giving those away at the end of the model year, IIRC. It wasn’t something I wanted at the time, but hindsight being 20/20, I wonder whether I might have enjoyed having one.

That's the EH-3. The EM-1, which is probabaly the one many enthusiasts chase, came after that then the EP-3.

Isn't the EP-3 the one they call the "bread van"?

Yeah, I meant the one on BaT was an EH3, that one you posted is an EP3. Those can be had for a reasonable sum because the EM1 before it gets all the attention.

yeah, that is the one. The shifter was up on the dash. Very European.

so, I might be in the distinct minority, but I really like this. I am sure I would regret it heavily.

I think the single spoiler looks cleaner, but if you are going off the wall for one of these, gotta do the double wing.

I saw that Merkur earlier today. I like it. I met someone at an autocross with one once upon a time. He said it had been very good to him.

As for the vette, you can get a base C6 for the price of a c5 z06. They are pretty darned close in performance but the C6 is supposedly better inside. Thing is, 5 yrs from now, I’m willing to wager the z06 would be worth more.

Here is the c6 I have tagged in my faves:

now, I really like that Mustang. Not sure if I can live with the seat though. I thought they were pretty uncomfy in that generation. I would be more than fine without adding a SC. Plenty of other things could do to it for that price tag. Not terribly far from me either.

the Vette, I just can't see myself in one of those.

They even have a Breld mobile (well, one of the many) at that dealer with the Mustang.

this one could be fun. If you don't mind not being able to see out. Manual good, but "only" a V6.

The Civic Si EP3 was the one I was referring to--I think they sold those at fire-sale prices towards the end of the model run. I remember it being referred to as British. Was the hatch on a different platform than the US domestic market Civic?

One of my high school classmates had an EM1 Civic Si, which was very nice and smooth, however, it irked me that it didn't have antilock brakes available, whereas the otherwise almost identical top-trim Civic EX had them standard.

Love the color on that 645i. I think the factory wheels look a little odd, and I'd prefer a beige interior, but I wouldn't turn it down if someone gave me one (with a lifetime B2B warranty). :p

My friend had an EP3 Civic Si. He started teaching me to drive stick on it right before he sold it. Hindsight being 20/20, that car had the perfect manual trans to learn to drive on. Super easy to drive.

I’m fond of that 1995 Civic Si.  I remember lusting after one when they came out, in a nice blue color.  I had my 1990 Civic Si at the time.

I strongly considered the newly available coupe when I graduated college - the EX had the same engine as the Si hatch, but ended up with the 1993 Prelude Si instead.

Preludes of that era had them as well although the '91 Prelude I looked at last year had the 5 spoke GS-R wheels, which I would have swapped for a set of OEM directional wheels. You could get them in a bright white too.

Yeah, I’m very unlikely to get a 2-seater since I’d almost never get to drive it. I always loved the looks of the 6-series. And something about the E coupe makes me drool. Can’t put a finger on it. But the colors on that one I posted are fantastic. I wonder if @fintail would advise against that one.

The interior plastics of that era can seem pretty chintzy, especially on those models where the C-class lineage really shows through.

I love the 6 in both coupe and convertible, probably my favorite recent BMW design. Prices are, of course, astronomical for a new one. An extended warranty would be an absolute must have. Golfing buddy of my dad has one and has told some horror stories.

It’s sounding more and more like GM defecated in the bed with the new 2.7 liter four cylinder engine in their full size pickups. The reviews I’ve read indicate the gas mileage is very poor, and the performance figures are far worse than the 2.7 liter F-150.
