You can turn off the lane watch though. Pretty sure that’s an option on my TLX. I just have the warning though, not the steer it back function.

And if you have to cross the line to go around something, just flick the blinker which turns off the warning.

I agree that I’m not a fan of the lanewatch but blind spot and rear cross path are desirable

The Volvo is pretty aggressive. It will pretty much keep you in the lane practically self driving. If it feels you aren’t paying attention it yells at you on the dash.

I played with it on a wide open road early one morning.

Got some questions into dealer and they just called back. Confirmed loyalty gets knocked off the price. And he said the .9% should be available with that offer too (meaning the quote doesn’t assume any financing) but if you take the base 5.8% rate they would knock the price down more.

But even better they are advertising to bring your Carvana quote and they will meet or beat it. So this deal is getting even skinnier.

With also found out she got a raise and bonus this year so I don’t think she is worried about having a payment now.

Going back this afternoon to see if it all works out when it goes onto paper.

Also asking for lease quote. Might be better to lease, cash out equity, ride market down then invest the cash out $ and hope it increases enough to buy out the lease at the end!

Hope the Carvana quote on the 2013 RDX was good.

Imho it would be worth it to cost out a lease, since currently there's $3k in lease incentive that I think can also be combined with the $1500 loyalty. Maybe a thousand of 3k incentive might be used up by the "acquisition fee" etc. of the lease, but that still might leave you ahead.

I'll be shocked if they actually stick to the c. $38.5k price-1500 loyalty=37k on an RDX Tech SH-AWD with the 0.9 financing, but if so that's a nice deal.

If you do think about a lease, a 10k mile a year figure might make sense given Acura's "mileage forgiveness" plan. Plus if you're just going to buy it out at the end you don't need to worry anyway.

Given how well you made out on your current RDX, probably makes sense to buy it. Did I, the only-leaser really just say that?

$3125 incentive for lease, but then you have to pay $595 lease acquisition fee. Also, if you are keeping the lease, the effective APR is 5.16%.

    I wouldn't lease, unless I was going to re-finance within 90 days.

Does Acura make you pay the interest on the lease if you re-finance before lease end? I know KMF/HMF does not, but many do.

So, first Hyundai and first time I've had to get flatbedded from my own house. Car is stone cold dead. Wouldn't even unlock the doors, so I had to pop the cover and use the *gasp* key. Driver is leaving now with it to take to dealer.

No, the finance charges are paid monthly. Unaccrued finance charges are not collected.

Makes the Tundra's near-single-digit MPG numbers a little more palatable.

The dealer is the one who requested I have the inspection done. They are overnighting me the the MCO so I can get that done. I assume I'll send it back to them with the inspection form and they'll send the fees and other documents back to the clerk to get it titled.

No car coming home now. On plus side, the managers I dealt with were super nice. And they agreed to match my generous Carvana offer.

But after a long discussion about how much they hate true car and how they present quotes, we were too far off for it to work. Of course, if they dislike it that much and are tired of having the conversation, stop paying for leads. I assume they convert enough people after a big bump that it is still worth it.

I sent them a counter (higher than TC but what I would have shot for on my own which they passed on. So good luck to them.

And for those interested, on a purchase, you can get normal financing including the .9%, or take their base rate (5.8%) and get $1,500 extra incentive. So a good deal if you were otherwise paying all or most in cash. Have to keep loan for 90 days.

I did the Edmunds quote to pa dealer. In between TC and what dealer here wanted. Better but still high.

Will talk to the boss. I don’t think she wants to up the budget more than it already stretched. At this point I will probably back burner it, stash more money into the down payment fund, and keep my ear to the ground. Maybe target a leftover at end of summer. In the meantime will try to put miles on the TLX.

What I really need to do us graduate college and join the military. More savings there!

This was more of a whim than a need anyway. I keep hoping a buy deal pops up on Carvana. That would greatly simplify things. Saves money too. No dealer doc fee! Plus I’m already paying for one nice car. If we got a 2nd one the TLX would really never move. And yes, swap lease crossed my mind. Does Honda finance allow that?

Congrats on walking away from something that was more than your budget!

As kyfdx warned us, it was either the low price or the super low 0.9%—but not both.

    Oh well.

As you were saying, in a couple of months the deals are likely to get better anyway. The only trick is that resale values to Carvana are likely to go down too.

PS If gas goes to c. $1.50 or so a gallon, as you mention hybrid CR-Vs might be discounted.

"An out of state inspection is only required when a vehicle is brought into Kentucky from another state or purchased in another state..."

Maybe the county clerks in some counties just rubber-stamp out of state registrations? I know the window tint shop where I had the Tahoe tinted had a sign up that they will not tint windows on out of state cars with temp plates, for this reason (it won't pass the inspection).

Dealer claims dead 12v was the problem. I started grilling him on why and how an electric car would fail to start or even open the door unless the main batteries were drained, and how any of that could happen while plugged into the wall. He had no answers. Said he isn’t familiar enough with the electrified cars. Gives me great confidence.

I think the first generation Nissan Leaf had an issue with this. Something like, if you left it plugged in for an extended period of time, it would keep the li-ion battery charged but wouldn't charge the 12v. I think the 12v only got charged when driving. May have been fixed with a software update or something.

That's beyond irritating; I had to take a special training session to be able to sell BMW electrics and hybrids- ditto for the techs, except their training was much more involved.

Makes sense. In any case, I think you're right that prices will likely be lower for most vehicles in a few months. And your current RDX is a solid vehicle, after all, it just lacks CarPlay and that new car look and feel. But otherwise a 2013 RDX in good shape is likely to last another ten years. It seems like time is probably on your side.

very true. I was discussing with the wife after filling her in on my experience. She is not all that concerned, knowing she will get her car at some point, once the right one car and deal appears. Plus would not be bad to stash away some more $ to put into it. And depending on how the whole virus, stock market, etc plays out there could be a lot of cars piling up in the next couple months on the lots. Memorial day is also supposedly a big sale time, so if we wait until then, not really a big deal.

The daughter was more upset than the wife!

@nyccarguy, @pensfan83, @jpp5862 (not sure what his new username is), and @kyfdx, have any of you bought some sort of cover to try to dress up the kind of homely looking key fobs on your trucks?

These and these both look really neat, and are offered in many of the colors offered on the trucks. Here's a leather one, but you can tell from the photos it's a very low quality leather.
