We had one years ago with tiptronic. Had a drivetrain clunk that was never able to be resolved and leaked oil more frequently than it didn’t. But it was darn quick and would have been way more fun with a 6spd.

That grill is indeed shocking, but I suspect as you see more on the road it will become more normalized. You know, “new normal” and all that. 😀

Why should BMW be immune to the rush to see who can produce the ugliest grill?

I’m impressed by BaT ability to make four owners and extensive repairs seem like a good thing. People would run if that description was on a Chevy Malibu on a B here P here lot.

You need to throw logic and reason out the window when you are dealing with BaT sales. Look at these two recent Bronco sales, first a '73:

It's where I bought my 2er; it had to be a special order- no way would a dealer load a car up like that(unless your NCM was leaving and wanted to poke the GM in the eye one last time- like what happened at my center).

Not at that price, I don't. No clue what these go for, but it is due for another timing belt (10 years), might as well do the tensioner, water pump, and serpentine belt at the same time. No steering wheel audio controls with the sporty three spoke steering wheel? That said, it's gorgeous, the color reminds me of my Jetta GLI.

I’ve noticed milage discrepancies on a number of dealer web sites. They’ll advertise one milage when the CarFax says something else. Usually it’s only a few miles but I’ve seen as much as 20k. Don’t know how that happens (sloppiness maybe) but it doesn’t engender trust.

In the video introducing the 2021 Acura TLX the project leader mentioned the A7 (msrp c.$75k) as something with similar proportions to the new TLX. And he seems to be right.

    Audi A7
    length 195.6
    height 56.0
    width without mirrors 75.1
    weight 4332

    2021 TLX
    length 194.6
    height 56.4
    width 75.2
my guess is that the weight for the Type S will be about 4000. Base model probably c. 3600.

Does Acura have any plans for the ILX or something of its size? If they could trickle down the aesthetics and powertrains of the new TLX to that entry level sedan, seems they could be successful.

Yes, it's just leaked that an all-new ILX-sized car is due in about a year. This car will also have a Type S model.

    https://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2020/06/type-s-almost-all-the-things-acuras-2022-product-line-leaked/

"So that means the TLX and MDX will get Type-S trims, along with the “New Compact Sedan”. The MDX and New Compact Sedan will follow the TLX in the launch order. The RDX and NSX aren’t listed before 2022.

    Wait, what? No ILX?

Well, we don’t know. The lack of ILX nomenclature could mean a change in name, and speculation is rampant that the Integra name could return. That could revive interest in the brand – not everyone loves alphanumeric nomenclature."

There was a dealer webcast that leaked that's now been taken down. Here's a pic taken by someone else from that slideshow that I saw too...

In that webinar, which is the dealer-version in a sense of the official video released for the new TLX, but with some more info, they also released a chart of how the models for the new 2021 TLX will go. The new info is that the Tech model still exists, and was in fact projected to be the largest volume model. The Tech model with have an ELS sound system, but you'll need to go to the Advance to get the ELS 3-D system with 17 speakers and c. 600 watts of power (or whatever the figures turn out to be). To the surprise and concern of some at acurazine.com the Type S is built off of the A-spec, and not off of the Advance. This seems to imply that the Type S won't get the real wood found in the Advance, and also won't get ELS 3D.

But Acura told their dealers, to my surprise, that they expect the Type S to account for as much as 20% of the volume for the new TLX, although the total volume, as seen from the previous chart, is seemingly fairly realistic at only 40,000 or so cars a year. That would still be a big increase from 2019 when I think the current TLX sold maybe c. 30,000—if that. So why not build the Type S off of the Advance? Price. Acura is apparently aiming for a compelling price point thousands less than a comparably equipped BMW M340, which prices out at c. $62k with some options. And so maybe the TLX type S will be somewhere around $52k? Why not have an Advance Type S? Well, Honda corporate even before the crisis was saying that there were too many models of various vehicles, and that this needs to be slimmed down to control costs.

I remember that one. But I would never get one with the F1/duoselect trans. I looked up the maintenance schedule for the ZF-equipped QP and it is really not bad at all. Just fluid and filter changes up until 100k, which then adds spark plugs.

One of our favorite pastimes here on CCBA is spending other people’s money. My mother in law currently drive a 2017 Ford Edge SEL. It’s got leather, hot seats, navigation, sunroof... She’s currently paying $450 per month all in 36/15K including NY (Nassau County) taxes. She asked me the other day what she should look at when her lease is up in August. Something of a comparable SUV as far as the size of the Edge goes.

I told her she should absolutely look at a Volvo XC60 as she’s a healthcare worker and a Costco member, although I think those crazy Volvo deals will be gone by August.

I think she’d like the Passport too.

What else do you guys think?

$450/mo might be a tough number to hit, for the size CUV that she has been driving.

So here is something else I am pondering. Through some poking around, I discovered this place not far from me that imports vehicles for you. I'm really not sure of all the expenses involved, so I'd have to reach out to them. But something like this really appeals to me.

They also use an auction site, where I found this gem. I REALLY like that, especially with the larger engine. But I missed the auction. It didn't sell, so maybe it will come back up.
