@xwesx Has your wife been able to drive it much? Does she like it? I imagine her focus is taking care of her mom, which is wonderful and a blessing.
She only drives for appointments and supplies, so, no, not much. She also has this very odd thing of becoming quite attached to "her car," which was her 2010 Forester up until this last month, and has suddenly become her 2013 Forester. So the only thing I can really get out of her about how she like this one is, "it's fine. It's not my car, but it will do." Funny enough, all she could say about the 2013 Forester before she left was how she liked the 2010 better.
Haha; I just chuckle and try not to point out how cyclical this preference is....

My wife bonds with her vehicle as well. She loved our '10 Pilot but her cousin who had a troublesome Odyssey that required 2 transmission replacements after 100k scared my wife into thinking that would also happen with the Pilot. So after around 150k of fairly trouble free duty she thought it was time to let it go. She is now very attached to the Q5 and claims it is her favorite vehicle ever. I suspect we will cut bait on that one well before 150k.

wait until she bonds with the new one, and tells you to fly out and drive it home.
At this point, it may not come home, but I'd be pleased if she decided to hang onto it and we just kept it there in Ohio for our (increasingly regular) trips to the area.
If her mother's health holds, I will likely take the kids down to visit this summer for a few months. So, if she wants me to take it home, then it would be a good time to swap cars. I really don't want to wrangle this type of lunacy again in the near future....

I have a sneaking suspicion that we are adding another Explorer to the CCBA fleet!
I was thinking of this as a replacement for the Chevy cargo van and to get back to a standard shift. Very basic truck but no fancy electronics to go kablooey.
I wouldn't mind that. Appeals to my quirky car gene. Seems like a good deal too considering what clean trucks go for. Great beater appliance, and should be very reliable and cheap to own. Go for it!

Wow that truck is like something you would have seen in the early 80s. Virtually no options. Add me to the list of people that never heard of the 4.2. At first I thought it was a typo and they meant the 4.0.

Received reimbursement from my auto insurance for the windshield calibration, including the dealer's bogus and undisclosed $12 "shop charge." Nothing on the rental, and the part that irks me is that they didn't acknowledge it in any way or explain why they thought they shouldn't have to pay. I wrote them a polite email to try to resolve it without much hassle on either of our parts.
A fanboy photoshopped the image and it has been making the rounds the past month. The only way I believe they could even pull it off would be to take a Trackhawk and graft on a Pacifica body from the A-pillar back. The FWD-based Pacifica platform could not fit the drivetrain, I’m sure.

I can’t imaging how that would be to drive. Even the 3.6L will spin the non limited slip front tire with little effort. Can you see a 700hp Hellcat motor sending the wheel flying off into space?

What a great video. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire thing - usually I get a bit bored a third of the way through these longer videos and start skipping through.
I'd say it's kind of a candy red. Definitely not a metallic. Color is a $395 option.
Not the best deal, but $200 over invoice, $2750 in rebates and 0% for 6 years. I could have paid cash, but I'm going to invest the amount I borrowed.
Engine isn't the smoothest, but when I left the dealership I had 344 miles remaining on the tank. When I got home, about 20 miles, I still had 344 miles left, so I think it's going to be ok on gas.

Just completed my survey from Toyota. If it's one that counts towards the dealership's bonus, they are not going to be pleased with it. They had over a week to address my concerns and chose to do so with an inept, hastily-written email.
@Michaell, This is our sixth Explorer, at one point my wife and I each drove one. She bought one of the first 4 door versions, Strawberry Red, 4x4, V6, 5 speed stick. I think I have to change my email in order to change my 'Handle'. Yes it has the 2.3T(wife has same in her MKC) with the 10 speed trans. Saab parts are not terribly hard to get and a great used part market, too. The V6 in that car isn’t the most reliable engine they made, however.
