Ah. I saw the euro plate but not unusual to run around with such a front plate. Didn’t Read the logo on pic. I’m surprised they went through the trouble of finding 2 pics of a matched car (silver over tan C70 with same wheels). Of course, the euro car has clear corner lamps, but I can’t see enough in the FL pic to confirm if that does.

I'd like to report a punch on behalf of a member. Our friend @tbirdmarco AKA @marcogallo1986 leased a car for his Mother. He hasn't been able to get back on the forums in some time. We text every so often. A few weeks ago he texted me that he was looking for a small SUV for his Mom. She was set on another "base model rogue, but wasn't happy with the lease payments that were quoted over the phone."

I mentioned a few small SUVs that have strong programs right now. They looked at a CX5. I suggested a CRV or even a RAV4. I pointed him in the direction of 2 brokers. One from LH and another from Facebook (I used to work with one of the company's principle's). Marco ended up making his own deal on a 2021 Hyundai Kona SEL AWD in Black. I think he did everything over email and the sales department was easy to work with. He said the finance woman was pushy, but he stood his ground and didn't buy any of the "mop n glow." He said once he settled on the car he wanted for his Mom, he was able to beat the brokers' numbers. He's going to send a pic tomorrow or Monday when it stops raining.

Same miles as the 2018 I’m considering, so a bit high for the year, but it does have 2 years of warranty left.

Listed at $54k. They seemed happy to match or do a bit better than other offers on the Supra, and say there’s room on the M2 price.

Bottom line that I need to think about...if it’s a swap for the 2018, is $6-7k out of pocket for a Comp worth it. And is it actually a better deal?

Like you pointed out earlier, a big part of the fun is the hunt. But yeah, that’s how it’s going...hmm, I think I’d like to get back into a manual...the M2 would make a lot of sense...dang, those M2 Comps are nice...hmm, I think I’d be just fine with the DCT if I get a Comp...

And then I’m kinda back where I started with the Supra.

If you want a change ... you want a change, but if it were me I’d stick with the Supra. Not as common and you seem to like it.

You’d see 10 similar BMWs before seeing a Supra.

3 and 5 series are ubiquitous around here but I rarely see a plain Jane 2 series let alone an M2 or M2C.

It's basically Ford and Toyota country around here- Fusions, F150s, Camrys, and all manner of their CUVs. Most BMWs are 3ers and 5ers. I rarely see more than a couple of 2 Series per month.

The M2 Comp is a bit more focused than the Supra, twin turbo S55, bigger brakes, tighter suspension, etc.

I was a bit surprised at how compliant it was too, paying particular attention to how it rode over imperfections in the road. Nice setup and balance.

When we drove them in the autocross in August, I was amazed at how easy they were to just jump in and drive. (DCT).

If I had that sort of budget, I'd get one in a minute, if it were a stick.

But, in reality, I'd probably be happier with a 240i

That’s pretty nice. We may actually go take a look at one for my son. Local dealer has their SEL’s priced at $19,100. Thats a pretty good value at least on the surface. The looks have grown on me and we like the hatch functionality for hauling lacrosse stuff now and dorm stuff in a few years.

Agreed - I'd probably be happier with a 240i as well, with the lower cost being factored into that satisfaction.

The 2018 M2 sort of splits the difference in a way for me - not as expensive as the Comp, not a ton more performance than the M240i, but actually easier to find with a manual than the M240i.

I have heard that there are some features of the M2 beyond the power that make it somewhat sharper than the M240i, like the steering.

Here's the think folks...I've not seeking an improvement over the Supra. I'm just at a point where I'm starting to have that itch for something different. And it's not even change for the sake of change (as it often is)...I'm not all over the place, but rather focused on an M2 or M240i. Maybe a Miata as a long-shot, but I've gotten really used to the increased comfort and usability of the Supra.

The biggest challenge is whether I'm ready to move on from the Supra. I love the styling of it...and at the same time often yearn for something less conspicuous. Something that doesn't cause 20-something drivers in BRZ's to hang their head out the window and scream at me (I think in admiration)...often asking if I want to "pull." I'm near 50 years old and have no idea what they're asking.

The BMW would offer a very similar experience but in a more mature body. It's a more upright seating position that I do miss from the GTI. And while super sharp in my eyes, it sort of blends in.

The value of the Supra has been great - I paid $47,700 for it last June and trade offers are averaging around $45k. Man, if only all my transactions were like that. So, I can move on from it if I choose feeling great about what the cost was to own and drive it for going on a year (I'm rounding up a bit). But it's also compelling to hang on to it having purchased that kind of performance at that kind of value.

For the record, I'm not buying that M2 Comp I drove yesterday. I posted that right after the test drive and was on a high. I'd still like one, but not ready to up my budget for it (they offered it to me for my Supra plus $6,500...not bad actually). I am still considering the straight trade for the 2018 M2...I have it on hold with a refundable deposit so it's at least available to me to look at this week.

Having said all that (sorry for the long winded post)...I'll probably keep the Supra. If so, do I win anything?

No doubly the M2 is a seriously sick automobile. The Supra is very unique. When’s the last time you saw another one on the road?

Was it really June?? I didn’t think it was anywhere near that long ago. Is $47k including all taxes and fees? Does your state give tax credit on trade-ins? If so, I’d say that’s not bad to take $2k hit in 8 mos. Just remember you are starting in more of a hole with used (difference between its trade value and retail). So swapping that one quick may be more expensive.

There is a guy in my neighborhood that has a red Supra. Definitely mid life crisis car. He must be pushing 60 (well, so am I so I guess I better not make too many old man jokes), with a belly and gray fringe on a bald head. But more power to him!

if it performs comparable to the Elantra sport (not sure how much it weighs or what AWD does to it) much more than the 190ish HP it comes with it probably overkill in something that size and design. 0-60 in the 6's is just fine for most everyone.

add me to the list of thinking a 240i is the better option. Assuming you are like the majority of people that are not actually using a "comp" in "competition" (or even on a track) that is a lot of extra $ for likely capabilities at the margins that you will never reach, and (usually) with some day to day limitations on an ultra performance model. a Mustang GT500 vs. a Mustang GT is probably a good example too.

I feel like he drives the Supra enough to enjoy it. The miles are always going to be on the low side. His cars are always in 10/10 inside & out. He’ll always be able to “get rid of it” without taking too much of a bath.

I recently had a similar conversation with my best friend who bought a used 2018 Raptor as a daily driver a few months ago. He recently took a road trip to Florida and was very impressed how his sister’s 2019 Suburban RST drove. He doesn’t like the current body style Tahoe/Suburban and started looking for slightly used 2020 Premier models. He’s fielded a few offers that range from “even swap” to “you need to come up with $3,500.” I told him he’s always going to be able to dump the Raptor when he wants, but get into that Suburban and you will be under water for the next few years. I also reminded him of some of the bad reliability issues he’s had with the GM trucks over the years. Thus far his Raptor has been “perfect.”

Hmm. If that Comp was a stick it would be a no-brainer vs the 18 M2. The roadburners of the world seem to value the Comp more, so I think the extra layout on the front end is worth it; it is a more desirable car. But, the premise here is wanting a manual in the stable, yes? If we're talking about a DCT, the Supra is more interesting IMO. But I would say that - the Supra is a Z4 Coupe and that's always been more of my jam.

I seem to recall the convo around the Supra last year, saying the discounts at that time wouldn't register, making for strong trade-in in about a year. Sounds like that's exactly what happened...nice.

Okay, I'll say this. I think that these may not be as good of a deal used as you might think for a few years. There has been a lot of hype around the Supra, as we all know. Some buyers won't consider a new one right now as they imagine they are really expensive, maybe have an ADM, etc. We know this doesn't match the reality on the market, and there are incentives now. This happens a lot with first year 'hot' cars, because the manufacturer over estimates the demand and guesses on a production quantity. Voila, too much stock. That won't happen for 2021, I promise you.

In a year, when a UCM gets one of these on the lot, they are going to think this was an ADM car, plus it's a 'Toyota' and will charge appropriately. Like the Civic Type-R, these will go from being nailed to the showroom floor thanks to a greedy sales manager, to a used car that a seller will be way too proud of. I think that if you can get a good deal now with incentives, you'll get to enjoy the car, and not get an unpleasant surprise later when dealers are listing used ones with 13K miles for $2K under MSRP. And maybe you could do even better on the trade value than you'd think in a year when you want to move on. Just my take.

For me, the Supra would be my first two seat sports car since my Datsun Roadster back in the late’70s. I’ve considered a two seat coupe several times but never pulled the trigger- M Coupe, Cayman, MR2, 370Z, etc. As I’ve said before, I’m not getting any younger.
The M2 would be my first real M Car since my E24 M6. Probably the last BMW with the character and feel of the E46 and prior M3.
I will say that I would almost certainly try a Supra if I could get the same discount bread received.

The dealer where @breld got his has a couple of 3.0s on the lot; if the same SM or GM is there, no reason not to think a good deal can’t be had.
