If the Maverick's payload capacity is 1,500 pounds, does that make it a 3/4 ton truck? ;)
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,341
Looks like my exact truck, other than the hybrid. FWD, carbonite gray, lariat.

And the reason the rear suspension is different has nothing to do with being hybrid. AWD and FWD have different rear suspension designs.

I’ve watched a number of reviews like this. Ford really has seemed to do a good job making the design sturdy, and easy to work on. Should be cheap to keep.

I also agree there was a big pent up demand sport something like this. I was never buying a new full size model. And the Maverick at least fits in the garage!

This segment is going to expand quickly I bet.

I'm starting to think Ford may have sparked a fundamental change in the market here. Some fairly large percentage of pickup sales are of the battleship-class fullsizers, which most people do not need for running to the mall. But given the small price difference between those and the only slightly smaller mid-size pickups like Ranger and Colorado, and the deals that are found on the big ones fairly often, that has driven those sales. Here comes Ford with an even smaller pickup that drives largely like a car or CUV at a very fair price that will meet the needs of a great many existing full-size buyers and perhaps even appeal to some of them more because of the compact size. I can see this newish segment getting competitive.

Well put. A useful, practical vehicle in a popular segment, at a price less than the current average cost of cars? Hopefully that’s a trend.

For some reason, probably poor memory, I thought you had ordered a blue Maverick. I do like the carbonite gray. Did you order the Hybrid with the same spec?

I was thinking blue first but switched to gray. At least saved $395.

I should have ordered the hybrid the same but went with an XLT with luxury package instead for some reason. Same color. Which probably won’t arrive until August or September at this point.

I know which one has happened more often in my lifetime. As I said, it's based on a pathetic "average" driver that causes far too many collisions.

There are both coup and contra coup forces.

I don’t think anyone is “in the business of ramming other vehicles”, but I digress.

Perhaps the NHTSA should consult @andres3 for an in depth analysis of crashes caused by pathetic average drivers? :)

Ahhh... the NHTSA, the same organization that refuses to discern between a lack of seat belt use and speeding as a speeding-related fatality? Even though it forms nearly half their data set? Excellent way to double pad the numbers, but really? I mean come on NHTSA.... How many years in a row will they continue with the absolute gibberish and misinformation campaign?

I've been calling them out for it for years now.

The stupidity of not wearing a seat belt is not the same as speeding. Even if you consider it stupid to speed, it's a different kind of stupidity than not wearing your seat belt while driving.

I’m not doing very good at resisting.

    X3m40i white/ cognac or m340 x drive mineral grey / mocha or m440 grand coupe x drive white/ cognac?

X3m40i would be order and can’t get HK stereo or extended shadow line. Probably get perforated pleather- could get cognac or red.

M340x drive has black wheels that I’m not a fan of. Has extended shadow line and leather

Since the Maverick is about the same size as the old Ranger maybe Ford shouldn’t have stopped production after 2011, just updated it.

Mach-e went bye-bye today. Driver had a Camaro on his truck, too. I didn’t get close but I did not hear a v8 when he started it to make room. Driver asked “wasn’t I just here?” I said I dunno, did he pick up my jeep? “Yeah, yeah, it was a jeep.” So I explained this was the replacement and maybe he’d be back again soon for a TRX.

While I know the number of people flipping Stellantis cars right now is relatively small, I think the public talk about it on various forums is going to kill it - lots of talk on LH and elsewhere about cancelled orders. It isn't good.

that's the dealer, not Hyundai. And they are far from the only dealerships doing it.

actually, seems like majority of dealerships already had these packages. They may have jacked the price a bit, but mostly, just much less likely to negotiate it away.

if you pay for it of course you can. I can't see them cancelling your JEEP order though. I assumed if they changed anything, it was just being able to flip leases which most of the action seemed to be.
