    @oldfarmer50,
That would have been an easy paintless dent removal fix, maybe $200.

My OCD with that particular car wouldn’t allow that. In fact, they did the equivalent of PDR and then did a repaint to make it perfect.

Another coworker in my small office wrecked her car in the snow last week. Not sure if totaled. Her rental is a green (possibly BRG) MINI Countryman. I had no idea those were in rental fleets.

Enterprise has a ton of Minis. My boss made a deal for something like 1200 of them.

I was sideswiped by a chair being operated by one of my son’s idiot friends so no police report but I wonder if a UCM could detect something with a paint meter.

Likely. Non-OEM paintwork generally increases the thickness of the coating, which is what a paint meter measures, plus it tends to have a more variable thickness than OEM, even if you can't see any signs of orange peel with your naked eye. But, if the color matches the rest of the car and there aren't any obvious quality issues, not likely to be an issue on trade in.
And the car has low miles, is in perfect condition, & very desirable (like yours @oldfarmer50)

The guys that do the lease turn in inspections are pretty thorough. I was surprised they caught the tiny bit of paint work on my Enclave when I turned it in.

Depends on who you get. On my 2011 Regal the guy doing the inspection totally missed the crease in the underside of the rocker panel I made when I cut a corner too closely and it hit a curb.

Yep, we have Mini's down here in South Florida Enterprise offices. I especially like them but am a bit skiddish about getting a loaner when things settle down. As much as I really want to go back to "cheap to keep", my voice inside my head tells me to just do it but get a Countryman S or I'll be a bit unhappy. I know it's a BMW underneath and to get one, even a loaner, I'll need to spend almost $30K plus my VW. But, I have to have one with the Harman Kardon audio plus a moon roof. As I mentioned to the crew yesterday as we went to the location at the nearby BMW/Mini location, that white over cream unit out front is calling my name. As of now, they all have an ADM fee ranging from $5K to $15K which is just outrageous. No way am I going to pay any fee like that.
Did see a red Lexus UX yesterday that was a hybrid, had no idea they came that way. Think for an almost similar price as the Countryman S, I'd rather go with the Lexus UX just for the reliability that it should have. Think the UX would fit in the garage nicely.

    Thanks for all the compliments.

I'm very excited about this purchase...I mean, I always am enthusiastic about any new car, but the upgrade over the XC90 traded in, for what I consider a very reasonable cost, is impressive (no offense to the XC90 and @tjc78 :) ).

As I mentioned already, the XC90 was no money maker, but I calculated the depreciation at $600/month, which I consider very reasonable, so I'm fine with that. Considering the $10k tax incentives on the X5, the net cost was about $5k more than what we paid for the XC90...and a comparably equipped XC90 (Inscription with massaging seats) would have been about the same.

Again, with all due respect to the very classy looking XC90, this X5 is a big step up. Feels like moving up to a different class of vehicle, from the comfort and handling, newer tech, and most importantly, the drivetrain.

I've had that T6 drivetrain in two vehicles now, both with the Polestar tune, and obviously I liked it enough to get the second one, but I did always feel like I had to modulate the throttle quite a bit for smooth acceleration. Putting it into Polestar driving mode made it much more responsive, but then it would hold at pretty high RPMs.

The in-line 6 in the BMW is of course a significant improvement, and that paired with the electric engine is sublime. On my drive home last night, I stayed mostly in the default "hybrid" driving mode, and it's seamless (and quick). The sport driving mode makes everything a bit more aggressive, as expected.

Seats are super comfortable - I wouldn't have chosen the Merino leather upgrade, but not sad that this one was spec'd with it. The sky lounge sunroof with its LED accent lighting is part of the exec package that I also would not have ordered, but it's very cool at night.

I would take that X5, as long as I didn’t have to pay for it! Even though it’s bigger than we prefer.

Talk about catless exhaust, I was working the airport on Monday and somehow a Mustang 5.0 was in the mix. Disregarding why a 460hp RWD car was being rented just after an ice storm, some dope had set the active exhaust to eardrum buster. It was dark and I had no idea how to turn it down since mine doesn’t have this feature. Every time I goosed the throttle I could hear the dead rising from a nearby cemetery.
