One of my Jeeps has been delayed. Built 3 weeks ago and sitting in Toledo parking lot somewhere. Waiting on an update on #2. That's the one I want to keep anyway, so hoping it comes soon. Chrysler raised the MF this month but also kicked up residuals a couple of points, so the overall net is a lower payment. Mine should work out to about $385/mo effective with a one-pay 36/10 lease on a $64k MSRP.

Wife is very on board with a 4XE to replace the S60. Hoping things stay pretty consistent with the offers. If so looking like I’ll try and order around May so I have it before mid August when the S60 is due back.

Most likely is this works out I’ll take the XC and give her the Jeep. I’ll have her pick the colors, etc. When the XC90 goes back Nov 23 I’ll get a sedan again.

Order earlier than you think you'll need. Take it from someone who has been waiting 2 months and still doesn't have one in production yet...

It's full every morning. So, the only time I ever use charging infrastructure is on a trip of 3+ hours, which is not a daily event. And even then, superchargers have me covered.

Clearly, apartments are the challenge for the future. But another geopolitical gas price surge might be the motivation needed to get more buildings to make the change.

Yes, if I was full EV it wouldn’t be a concern. At a max range of 25 miles, I like to charge whenever possible. So far in 2022 I’ve bought 2 tanks of gas. Still at 1/4 of a tank right now from the tank I bought on 2/1

Agree with you on the apartments. They will have to come up with a solution that you get access to a dedicated charger with your rent.

City dwellers/street parker’s will need a solution as well.

What are the specs on your new one? Any particular option or color causing a delay now? I know when I ordered Gorilla Glass and certain colors were causing back ups. A guy ordered Gecko Green same day as me and he was over a month behind.

I can see why they had to do it. As long as it is just hitting people that are just on a list for someday getting one, and not people that are already scheduled or in final detailing,

hard to say that the price they estimated in 2018 (which I am sure was presented as such, not a firm contract price) is still going to work today.

sounds like they have years of reservations anyway so can afford to lose a few!

Drove a gas powered Jeep Wrangler 4-door at work today and didn't find it very stable at all, seem a bit darty when hitting the gas to get around other slower drivers. It just wasn't as comfortable a ride as I have now in the Golf. Are all Jeep Wranglers this way, 2-doors & 4-doors? If so, doubt I'd be a good candidate for owning one. Betting if it's lowered an inch or two and regular all season tires on it, it would drive more like a small SUV. The look great and liked the view out the windows just felt it was a bit all over the road.
Q, am confused. Your first Jeep EV you sold. Now you have another couple on order and are both going to be flipped? And what about the Mercedes SUV that's having all the issues, where is that vehicle now? Lastly, what about the Mercedes Sprinter van or has that been nixed? Guess I haven't kept up with all the changes as having enough of it with Breld & his wife. Just wish my wife was so understanding about buying multiple vehicles. Haven't even brought up the Corolla Cross yet as I refuse to pay any Admin Fee so am willing to wait until 2023 to purchase.
Is car flipping your new profession now? Sorry but I'm not quite sure what you do now for a living to be honest. I was gone for awhile and I think you had a change in profession during that period. Totally glad that you are making money flipping these vehicles but thinking you must need a bunch of cash upfront to afford it all. Plus the insurance & registration costs must be out of sight but obviously manageable since you continue to flip. Glad it's working out for y'all. Betting though that your wife might want something that's truly hers for the long haul.

Once I get a little closer to ordering I’ll dig in deeper.

    @Sandman6472 ,
I had wanted to just get another Jeep in a better configuration. Ordered it, then a broker offered a better deal shortly after, so I ordered another. Plan is (was?) to keep one. I’m still going to try unless the wife really insists otherwise.
Sprinter is still coming, but no clue when.

As to your test drive, they definitely don’t all drive the same. The heavier 4xe with street tires is by far more subdued and acts like a normal SUV.

Almost $108 for a hair over 30 gallons in the Tundra this evening. It was still showing as having 20 miles of range on a (supposedly) 38 gallon tank.

Picked up the Prius with its new front pads and rotors, front wheel bearing, and CV shaft assembly, and it seems like it drives as well as a 15 year old one possibly can. Of course, on the way home, I almost got hit by an idiot running a red light.

That's good! I know our place in Ohio has a garage, but it wasn't made for anything tall, that's for sure! The door height can't be more than maybe 7' at most, probably less, I think.

Insofar as putting the EV chargers on the far end of the parking lot, I’d be fine with walking a bit further to my destination to get free or cheap EV charging, but that might not be as convenient for people who aren't as young and sprightly as myself.

Drivers running red lights is out of control. It is now a regular occurrence instead of an exception. Stop signs are similar. In our neighborhood there
is a Stop sign at the end of our street. I watched 4 drivers either just yield or completely ignore the Stop sign within 15 minutes. Defensive driving is more important than ever.

@sda - same, there is no enforcement. I keep thinking I'm going to rear end the person in front of me because I'm trying to see whether there is someone who doesn't want to stop. Today, I had pulled forward into the middle of the intersection to make a left turn onto a wide street (3 lanes each way + center lane). The light turned red, but I could tell an oncoming car wasn't going to stop. Meanwhile, I was a sitting duck, while the perpendicular traffic got a green. I gave him a Chicago hello, though...

We had a jackwagon honk at us at a 3 way stop sign in the neighborhood.

We were heading out for lunch and Jr is driving. He comes to a full stop (he’s with mom and dad after all) and takes just a second to adjust a mirror as he is in my wife’s car. Here comes a neighbor known to be the north end of a south bound mule and he starts honking at us when he is a full 100 yds away from the stop sign.

It was all I could do to not get out of the car. I figured very little good would come of that though.

Near my In Laws house on Long Island is interesting to say the least. They live on a corner lot. One road runs north/south. The other, east/west. There is a stop sign at every other block going east/west and a stop sign at every other north/south intersection. If you are unfamiliar with the area, and you are traveling east/west and want to turn on the north/south street the natural thing to do is stop. This particular "non-stop" intersection is across the street from their house. The locals know the traffic pattern and it is their god given right not to stop at certain intersections. A lot of people do stop or slow down because your brain tells you to "stop" at this intersection. If you stop, or even slow down, they wail on the horn. Makes for interesting holiday dinners to say the least.

There’s a popular convenience store in Rutland VT that has maybe 20 parking spaces. They converted 8 of them to charging stations which are hardly ever in use. Occasionally you’ll see a big brodozer parked in one almost in protest.

I wonder how much business that store has lost because their non EV customers can’t find a place to park?

Yes, all the Wranglers I’ve driven have that darty feel to them although the four door doesn’t porpoise as much because of the longer wheelbase. The Bronco is much better ride quality IMO and feels more spacious.

I use that phrase on occasion and every neighborhood and workplace has at least one. I’m pretty sure we have few in here too. But, I won’t get into that because I might have to point a finger at me. Sometimes the truth hurts. :*

@Sandman6472 , sorry, I didn't answer your profession question. I didn't change professions, just jobs. I'm still a medical editor. Flipping on the side. It can't last forever. If you do them one at a time, the cash outlay isn't terrible. Most at one time was the Mach E cash purchase at $48k. Got that back and then put out $30k on the Ram. That will be back in the bank before paying $14k for each Wrangler.

Property tax on the Tundra went up from $545 last year to $647 this year. Supposedly the state is going to reduce it retroactively. I'm sure it will be a mess trying to get the refund back from US Bank.

You have to be careful saying anything negative about a Jeep Wrangler. They have almost a cult like following in some circles. If you really want to be ostracized in here, dare to say anything negative about any BMW.
