closer to home my BIL and SIL are upgrading. Found out on turkey day they traded in her 2015 X5 against a new one (to be built mid-december so getting it sometime in January I assume). had to trade the old one in already to lock in the offer (I forgot to confirm they will still get the sales tax credit).

Well, if the judge doesn't want a trial and the defendant keeps asking for continuances, there you are...
Why would the judge not want a trial? Isn’t that their job? And I thought there was a limit to continuances? Not to mention needing a reason??
Some judges are lazy. I've had cases where I waited months for a judge to rule on a motion. Me, I yousiall issued a decision within a couple of days; I wanted to get it done. But some judges just don't care

Well, I’ll just say I’ve told my wife she can’t buy any more GLCs.
Wednesday she decided she’d like an EV of her own, so she drove a Model Y and Mach E and loved the Ford.
Black Friday shopping ended with this…
Did she trade the GLC on it?
Which trim is it?
I like the color.
Thanks. Yup - didn’t even get the GLC registered.
The Mach E is a GT with the performance pack, which was probably overkill, but she really wanted the cyber orange, and that’s how this one was equipped.

The Ford was a new 2022. There have been a handful on the lots around here and ADMs remain but have come down to the point that a marked-up 2022 is less than the 2023 MSRP. And a purchase before year end still qualifies under “old” tax incentives as long as it’s manufactured in NA. So if we were gonna do anything, made sense to pull the trigger now.
Any Premium trim models are flying off the lots while the GTs are sitting a little longer.
The GLC was a new 2022. The redesigned 2023 GLC is due to hit lots any day, so that had some effect, but I can testify that trade values are normalizing. That’s real life research done especially for this group…you’re welcome. 😀
Agree with @breld on trade-ins and the used market in general. Took a bath on my MiL’s Outback.

Congrats @breld, I also like that color! Funny, we were watching a show yesterday where they were installing a Borla "exhaust" for that car. And by exhaust, I mean a speaker box tucked up underneath the back end that gives you that throaty sound depending on what the car was doing, very interesting to say the least.

Do like the new Mustang in orange so I guess congrats are in order. Does seem like y'all go through vehicles mighty quickly unlike most of us who just keep what we've got for a longer period. Hoping that you're not losing a whole lot of $ trading as much as y'all seem to do. Just the costs of plating and unplating each vehicle must cost a pretty penny. Not sure I could do that but do enjoy what y'all are doing. Having good jobs I'm guessing helps pay for all the shifting that goes on, as most of us could never afford to make so many moves. Well, enjoy them all. Guessing that you're "perfect garage" would consist of just 4 vehicles & wondering, right now, at this moment, are you both content with the current lineup to do nothing for the next year at least. Just for kicks, you should make out a list of all the purchases/leases the family has done since one could legally drive. Betting it would be a very impressive list. Must admit, I've been a lover of all the automatic Mini Cooper's y'all have had. I like Mini Coopers and was discussing that at dinner last night. Like the size as we both prefer a smaller vehicle.

Finally got some street time behind the wheel of our A3 yesterday and like the way it drove. It's got a similar 4 cylinder turbo as my VW Golf has but there's no turbo lag like I seem to have, none that I experienced in the 60 or so miles I drove. With about 74,200 on the clock, it drives very nicely and holds the road well. Am assuming Audi tweaks that 1.8 engine a bit differently than the one in my Golf and I do prefer the A3's version much better. Did sit in a brand new A3 at work, and prefer the new dashboard as it's more modern without that ridiculous pop-up infotainment screen coming up from the top of the dash. A much simpler design than our 2015 model and even the front fascia has evolved nicely. Just unfortunate that the intro price is now so much higher than what we paid back in December of 2014. Yes, ours will be eight years of ownership come December 1st later this week, bought with maybe 10 miles on the clock. Aside from the oil/coolant leaks, overeall, we've liked it a whole lot.

Did the income cap for the federal tax credit start in August of 2022 or does that start in 2023?
Got a question I need answered. When we bought the Audi, the sales guy told my wife to not use the recirculate button while having the a/c on. I keep telling her that in the recirculate mode on, the inside air will be a bit colder and that smelly outside air one sometimes goes through won't come into the cabin. She still won't believe me. Last night on the way home from dinner at the Crab House in Boynton Beach, excellent restaurant, we passed an area where the outside air stunk. She immediately asked me if I needed to stop & use the men's room. Of course I said no, the smelly outside air came into the cabin due to you keeping the recirculating button off. Told her this is the reason mine is always on. The funny part is, when we left the house, I pressed the recirculating button on as I drive that way but since it was her vehicle, she turned it right off which kind of pissed me off. Again, for the hundredth time, I slowly & calmly explained how the recirculating system works. Now she's lived through it first hand but guessing she still believes the sales guy over me & experiencing how it works on the way home tonight. Gets frustrating when I'm proven right, for once, but she still won't believe what I say. That's a big reason I usually have her drive when we take her vehicle out as I prefer the cleaner colder air in our South Florida heat. A shame that some folks just hate being told they are wrong on something but after being shown the truth, still believing the falsehood, something that's very prevalent in our society today!!!

That’s the biggest crock of BS I’ve ever read. Personally I don’t know how in South Florida you survive without using Recirc. Does the Audi have Auto Temp? If so it will start on recirc and then switch to fresh air once the cabin is cooled.
I know one downfall to recirc is on a humid rainy day it can cause the windows to fog, but otherwise I really don’t know a downside to it.
I also know you shouldn’t use recirc on heat for the same reason above.
Congrats to Mrs. @breld on the Mach-E, it looks great! I think I said a while back that you may need a second EV charger for your fleet.
The recirculate thing sounds like an urban legend... My grandparents and my mother believed for a long time that it would ruin your car's HVAC system if you used the "bi level" vent option to direct air to the floor and dash vents, or to the floor and defrost, at the same time.
the recirc is supposed to cool the car off faster (I assume it is something to do with using the already cooler/drier air?)
my understanding has always been to just use it when the outside air is nasty, or at first to cool it off quicker, but then switch back to normal. I will do some research (IOW a quick hit of the googles) but I know I am right this time! Just not positive why... I think something to do with getting fresh air into the car instead of just recycling the same stale air. same thing in the house, if your envelope is too tight, you actually have to bring in fresh outside air or it becomes bad to breathe.

consider it a reward for going back to work in public service after you retired!
or use some sort of Driver logic. if you spend $X more than you planned to, and you can do substitute judging for $X/10, once your current term expires do 10 trials you weren't planning to and have the same amount of money in the bank, and a nicer car in the garage!
or do what we do when we treat ourselves. Tell the kids we are spending their inheritance.

1. Hoping against hope, I still met with a salesman and actually worked a deal in the hope that Todd and Lisa had an abysmal credit rating. No joy.
2. After the debacle Mrs. RB suggested harvesting some losses from a mutual fund or two and moving up the automotive food chain.
3. To avoid hoots of derision I will keep the two current cars I'm considering under wraps for now.

consider it a reward for going back to work in public service after you retired!
or use some sort of Driver logic. if you spend $X more than you planned to, and you can do substitute judging for $X/10, once your current term expires do 10 trials you weren't planning to and have the same amount of money in the bank, and a nicer car in the garage!
or do what we do when we treat ourselves. Tell the kids we are spending their inheritance.

Do you really think he'll stray from the BMW family? I don't.

I have my doubts it would stick if he did.
Good point, though, about just moving up the BMW ladder. Could be I was reading too much into the clues.

Interesting note though that he didn't make all of those millions as a race car driver, apparently he inherited his wealth like so many others.
Gloria buyer is a ghost. C&B is reaching out to 2nd bidder. I'm sure they will decline.
