so, @tifighter, did you take the CPO unit or did you manage to get one of the local stores off their high horse on a new one?
CPO.
New S Advance stickers at around $75k. There are 3 in the Seattle area. So more like $80k ask. The CPO was a 22 with 4500 miles. $67k, and they gave me $3k more for the RX than other dealers and Vroom offered, and the tax credit on the trade applies as well. I also liked the interior color, which I haven’t seen on another one-
The standard MDX advance was $59.5k CPO with more miles, and I thought the S was worth the extra cost. So I decided to go for it. It’s not an all-timer as deals go, but it wasn’t bad for a hard to find car that’s in demand. I like it.

I went with @breld when he test drove a Type S and Advance, back-to-back. We had a lot of the same thoughts during the test drives.

Could be a few things, but most likely is a bad differential. I'm going to guess via experience that it is the front differential going out. And, no, of course it is not noticeable while driving straight down the road (yet, anyway), because there's no speed difference in the wheels, but it will ultimately result in the differential grenading if it isn't repaired first.
What causes this? Not changing the fluid and/or running differently sized tires for long periods of time, or even just hammering on the car every time you make a tight turn (such as turning right onto another road from a stop) over and over and over again.

Could be the differential or the Viscous Coupler (VC). Quick google reveals those are fairly common issues on the MTs. Our Subaru sage @xwesx may know better.

@qbrozen - that stinks, at least you got a deposit for your trouble.
Drove the Prius again this evening, and the new tires are unremarkable in a good way. I'll test them a little more aggressively when I'm out on a desolate road. I have a few concerns about Cooper as a brand now that they are owned by Goodyear. It seems like, since the buyout, they're focusing mostly on the Cooper brand and de-emphasizing Cooper's downmarket lines (Mastercraft and Starfire).
There was also an interstate off-ramp that was so potholed and the Prius' VSC is so aggressive that it would always activate when you braked gently as you went down the ramp, even in the dry (the ramp exiting I-64 eastbound at the Grinstead Drive exit). I drove out there to test the new tires on it, only to be thwarted--it's been completely repaved. No change in average MPGs over about 50 miles of driving.
Those are the craziest auctions I’ve ever heard of. Could that happen at a dealer’s auction ? Is there no penalty for doing that?
This one wasn’t an auction. It was an Offer on my ebay ad that I accepted. I’m keeping his $250 deposit, so at least that is something.
Still, that’s infuriating. What’s with people today, they seem to have no problem playing games with people’s livelihoods. I still remember having people come to me at the farmers market and say “hold this for me I’ll be right back with the money” only to never return and leave me literally holding the bag.

@tifighter - the "Oscar worthy" performance of the salesman when you asked him to sell you a Pilot for under MSRP reminded me of an attorney who used to practice in my hometown, who passed away long ago. His strategy for jury trials was to tell some sort of heartbreaking story about his client and break down into (carefully orchestrated) tears describing their predicament. He kept an onion in his handkerchief for this purpose. Apparently, it fooled people pretty well back in the day.
Someone up the street has an MDX with red calipers. Is that an S Type? Ti's silver exterior with blue interior looks good. EPA Fuel mileage rating is pretty bad, kind of like a full size pickup from 10 years ago.

My sister had some work done to the Sonata - timing belt and water pump were replaced, as were some seals and gaskets. She said she could smell something burning, and her local mechanic diagnosed the seals as the source.
She picked it up today and got it washed and waxed. Still looks good for a 20 year old car with only 54,000 miles on it.
might be getting closer to having a very low miles 2020 Sentra available. May be getting close to the point where my father stops driving. not yet though.
bad week for him. his wife (married after my mother passed away) also passed away Thursday AM. so we stopped to visit on the way back from the beach and be at the first part of the viewing. And will be making an unexpected trip back to the old stomping grounds (about 2.5 hours or so) Monday for services. on top of that he hurt his lower back and is hobbling around with a cane. at 94, that might not progress well.
Holy Jesus, Mary, & Joseph - I called up to see how much it would be to add my son to the policy. Allstate wants an additional $2,675.30 for 6 months. That’s an additional $440.85 per month over what I pay.
The guy I spoke to on the phone (my agent’s office was closed) suggested I Google “Non owners auto insurance.” That some other insurance companies (not Allstate) off this type of coverage and it is very inexpensive.

I’m now calling Hinshaws Acura, where all that nonsense happened, Waterworks Acura. It will kill me to get service there.
The place I bought my car from, when working on my trade, joked that I shouldn’t worry - they weren’t the kind of place that “lost” your keys.
I did get a follow up from the Audi sales guy too. He congratulated me on the car and was always very professional. Would consider an Audi again if I could work with him. He also has an E92 M3 and should be out at the next CCA meet. Good stuff.

I know that auto insurance can be much different depending on the state. For our Allstate policy, if we have an underage driver (my son) on the policy, we *must* assign him as a primary driver on one of the vehicles. The additional amount we pay depends directly on which car we have him assigned to, and what type of coverage is on the car (liability, full, etc.). For is 2009 Forester, on which he has liability only, it is something like 140/mo. Not nothing, but not crippling, either. He can drive any car on the policy; he's just listed as primary on that one (which is true, since it is his car!).
