Decided to go with 50% tint this time around as I didn't want it to be too dark like I had but wanted to keep the interior a bit cooler. Used the same guy who took the old stuff off & glad I took a few weeks to try to live without it. The heat is particularly intense this summer so decided to just get it done. Earlier today, found the receipt from 2015 tinting for both vehicles on the refrigerator, not sure why I put it there. But the price was $150 for each vehicle which I'm guessing wasn't that bad since I paid $170 this time around. And the tint isn't that dark really which is just what I wanted. So am very pleased that I got rid of the old dark tint for this new stuff.
P.S. The tint is light enough where I can read the word "Trukfit" on the hat in the second picture. Have noticed that many vehicles have the darker tint down here but like what I got, so all is good.

Looking like we'll be getting some rainy/windy weather come the beginning of next week. That disturbance seems to be traveling in a more west/northwest direction right now and could very well go over Cuba before it hits the gulf. So, we're basically in a wait and see position right now as the local weather is just showing rain for Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday at the present time. Living in the tropics always has the threat of hurricanes 6 months each year and I sure wish we would move a bit north to be honest. After so many years here, 55 this October, a change of scenery would do me the world of good!

Looks like Ford put up a webpage showcasing the refreshed 2025 Maverick's features. AWD now available on the hybrid, and it looks like they've gone back to making the hybrid the standard powertrain, with the 2.0T available as an option. 4,000 pound towing capacity now available on the hybrid. Unsurprisingly, the small infotainment screen and the (relatively useless) storage bin adjacent to it are axed in favor of a larger infotainment screen. Based on the picture, I'm going to wager it's not easily retrofittable to 2022-24 Mavericks, as it looks like the dash trim has changed, as well. Available 360 degree camera and trailer hitch assist.
Horsepower and torque both down on the 2.0T models... Why? Unless they are deliberately under-rating it, that alone would make me not consider replacing my 2022 with a 2025 model.

Don’t visit NY. 30% is the legal limit. I drove a car the other day that must have come up from down south because the windows were virtually black. I was waiting for the po po to pull me over.

you really don't need it up here. I don't like tint any darker than what comes on the back windows of a minivan or SUV, which is subtle. And really dislike (it's a personal thing) vinyl cling stuff. But Sandy's doesn't look bad at all.
Man, that garage is tiny. I spent way too much money getting an oversized one that just happens to have a house attached to it. At least the appraisal we just got for the HELOC came out to about 10% more than we will have in it once all the projects are done.

Next month, I'll owe under $10k on it. And I think it's still worth close to $20k on trade, which isn't much less than I paid for it. MSRP inflation has really kept the values up on the older ones.
I think a MT article suggested that performance wouldn't be different, but I'll believe that when I see some instrumented testing. It'll also be interesting to see performance numbers on the AWD hybrid.
Yep, garages down here are a bit small unless one goes for a three-car one. Since our house was a spec house, it was take what we got or...don't. Never really gave it a second thought and I always drove a smaller vehicle anyways. Our family vehicle was a '85 Olds Cutlass Supreme when we bought so it fit nicely on the left side. We did bring home an Olds 88 and it was just to darn big for even the left size, so the Cutlass was the next logical choice. ANd that was her last big vehicle.

Before I got the truck I was able to get a nice size workbench, mower and related, beer fridge and an XC90/S60 with no effort.
Problem now is the truck won’t fit with the workbench.. and to make matters worse the high shelving I have running down that side is more than high enough for an SUV but not a lifted pickup (can’t open the door)
So… when we get home for the fall I’m going re-do the entire garage to get the truck in and maintain as much storage as possible. The work bench will have to go though. I don’t really use it anyway and it collects junk

My dealer sent an email with the 2025 maverick build it site and an offer that they will take orders at invoice still. I built out a lariat (only come loaded up) with the AWD option and 4k tow (and moon roof). Pretty much everything except for the coach appearance trim package.
All in, sticker was about $40,200. Getting up there. Last I saw carvana I think they would give me $30k for mine. Maybe 28. But e en if dealer offered up 30k I would still need to come up with about 12 grand to trade up. Not really worth it right now.

There was a time I would have 100% agreed with you. Bottom line is I don’t do much work in my house these days nor work on my cars so it’s just not a need.
Tried a different dealer[1] to have the Maverick's oil changed. They couldn't do the recall work because supposedly one of the updates takes three hours, and I had a late afternoon appointment. They upcharged me for full synthetic oil even though Ford specs synthetic blend for that engine, and as soon as I drove off, the CEL lit up. I got it home and hooked up the code scanner, which showed an intake air temperature sensor error. Opened the hood and realized they hadn't reconnected that sensor after checking my engine air filter. I give them about a 3 out of 10--at least they remembered to put oil in it. Thankfully, with two Ford plants in town, there are a plethora of dealers to choose from.

I’m sure I told this story before:
About maybe 5 years ago I took the Genny to the dealer to have an oil changed. I waited in the waiting area, it didn’t take too long for the SA to come tell me my car was ready. I paid them and they pointed to where they parked my car in their driveway . When I got to my car I opened the hood and before i had a chance to pull the dip stick the SA comes running out to see if there was a problem. I told him I was going to check the oil level, he said somethings like, “do you think we didn’t fill it up”? I just said, “I’m paranoid, I always check when I get an oil change. I even check lug nuts after a state inspection”. He gave me a weird look, said, “REALLY”?, shrugged his shoulders and went back inside. So far I’ve never left a lot before I check the easy stuff.

I think the sticker on my current 2023 was about 35k. But it’s FWD and I didn’t get the co pilot plus package (ACC). Not sure since I paid below invoice and had private offers on top of it.
The 2022 Ecoboost lariat without luxury (also FWD) was maybe 30?

My parents' 2020 Ranger is having issues shifting, which appear to be the subject of a TSB. They have an appointment next week to get it looked at. No CEL, but there may be stored codes. 44k miles, so still under the 60k powertrain warranty, but the first step of the TSB, if no codes are found, is to update software and reset the adaptation, without replacing any parts. Dad is (rightly) concerned that, if that is the ultimate "fix" for their vehicle, it may be temporary, and then the issues start recurring right after the powertrain warranty is up.
He mentioned buying a Tacoma, and I had to tell him that I just read about complaints of early transmission failures on the all-new 2024s, as well, plus the Tundra engine failures we've talked about here.
Here's a link to Granger Motors extended powertrain warranty. They supposedly have good prices on extended service plans. Might be worth it to spend a few hundred bucks ranther than buy a new truck. https://grangerfordextendedwarranty.com/powertrain.html

Interesting, I'll look into that. Looks like they can purchase a comprehensive bumper to bumper for up to six years/75k miles despite being out of warranty. I think that would also cover the climate control blend door issue, if it were to occur, which is also a common problem on those and is very expensive to fix because the dash has to be disassembled.
We took my elderly uncle out to dinner last night; because the restaurant's parking is limited I drove the X1, as it's the next-to-smallest vehicle in the fleet. It occurred to me that Car and Driver considers the C43, the Wrangler, and the X1 to have uncomfortable ride quality. My wife and I beg to differ. Methinks that the road tester at C/D have an issue with undiagnosed hemorrhoids.

I've found tire and wheel choice can do a bit for these cars. C&D recently tested a MB E350 which had 21" wheels. Why? Of course those will create some ride quality issues. I recall older AMGs could be pretty firm if not flinty - my W202 C43 was that way, the E55 a lot less harsh.
Not a chronic buyer, but impulsive maybe. My friend with the CT6 PHEV, bought as a CPO car in the summer of 21, dumped it today. After the sunroof leak (maybe not entirely the fault of the car), radar cruise quirks, and emergency braking that he claims engaged on its own, he was growing tired. It also became too large for him - his ex wanted it, and when they split, he was a pushover and took the Caddy. He recently got it to a point where payoff was effectively equal to trade in value, so it's gone. Replacement - a 2024 Elantra hybrid. He seems more than pleased with it, as such cars now come with a host of nanny and assist gadgets, but there still might be a refinement gap between a car that was ~90K new (I think he paid upper 40s for it) and one that is 27K. He told me there was a $1500 incentive and 1.99% financing, although I don't know if he got both, along with a small dealer incentive.
Most interesting thing, he said the CT6 variant was so rare that the dealer had a hard time finding a value, he said Carmax had similar issues.
