Me neither - Apple stuff frustrates me no end. When my wife's iPad dies, I'm going to push her to a more open brand of tablet. I am enjoying the freebie pinball game app I snagged a couple of weeks ago though. :shades:
As for that final free service visit, I'm not even sure all that's included. I've read some reports of plugs and air filter at 45k, but nothing official.
I'm looking through ebay for tires now. The rears are pretty damned low. Fronts are still good, but I don't see me replacing just the rears. I'm thinking of going with Continental DWS all seasons. I kind of hate downgrading myself to all season tires, but I don't want to invest in a 2nd set of wheels right now and the surveys on tirerack for these contis indicate they are quite good in the dry anyway. Probably still better than these damned RFTs.

I do REALLY LIKE my 2010 Acura TSX, but would LOVE to upgrade to something with some serious power. Like a few others have commented, This board (& my monthly ROUNDEL reading) make me want a BMW, especially one with a 35 on the end.
So q, how much off their asking price did you get again? Is your car CPO? Sorry, I got a little confused from all your posts.

no clue if his new generation 550 has room for one though.
I do know that the 2005 3 series I am looking at (E46!) have a nice, full size spare in there. a major selling point!

Not CPO.
$3k off asking price and $1k up from their first offer on my trade.
I did see some sticks during my shopping, too, BTW. Check the BMWusa site. A couple were on there.

I just ordered tires today. The Conti DSWs. I ordered a non-OEM size (235/35/18) because they were on special at tirerack for $77 each. I couldn't pass up that deal. It will also make them the same size at all 4 corners, but this is just for the bad weather. I'll get some wider rears when the nice weather rolls around.

Like Michael mentioned, we got hit with a decent snow storm last week, so I've been mostly driving the SUV around. I got out yesterday in the 530i, which was a nice change.
And I have to confess, the wife and I spent an hour at a Honda dealership earlier this week - looking at minivans! Obviously it's not a very emotional thing, so I imagine we'll put off that purchase for awhile, but as the two younger kids continue to get taller, that 3rd row in the SUV will start to get a bit cramped.

Well, our garages could grow even more similar if you guys decide on the T&C like my wife did.

After getting one I don't know why I waited so long.
They are a great family vehicle if you can get past the stigma. An Ody also drives and rides a lot better than a Pilot, FWIW.
Sheesh, I paid about that much earlier this month for 15's on my ION. But, supposedly they should be good for 80,000 miles. We will see.
I'm gonna have to keep a real close eye on tire prices when it comes time to put new shoes onto the CX-7 ... those are 19's!
breld - you're thinking of ditching the CX-9? I can understand that with 4 growing kids - a minivan is probably a much better choice.
Asked her why she thought that .. she commented that it looked "substantial" for a small car. I then suggested that it might be because of the fender arches. She agreed.
I wonder how much 1-series M's will depreciate to in a few years? Those are small but "substantial", too.
But this is the reason I've learned not to focus on just one size. Tire rack makes this real easy. I just surf through the different top rated models in a given category and view the tab tire rack provides that shows all sizes/prices for that tire. Usually you are just looking at saving maybe $40-$50 a set if you are willing to go 1 size higher or lower, but this example shows that sometimes MAJOR savings could be had. I was looking at $600 for a set in OEM size.

135is1 M. Did they sell out production 100%? I did see them listed with cheap financing (3.9%) under BMWUSA's website not too long ago.The people who have them will either keep them or put them away (such a shame). The unsold 1 Ms will be resold by dealers for close to new for a few years.

With all that going on the truck's issues have had to wait and have magically cured themselves for the most part. Its been really good lately and thankfully its amazing in the snow. We travel 120+ miles round trip to visit our daughter and the roads have been less than wonderful. No need for Santa to bring me a new truck, I think I'll keep the one I have and maybe next summer buy it an RV to tow around.
Tire Rack ran a similar deal on Pirelli PZeros in the 17" size that fit my wife's X3- $75 IIRC. No such luck with the size that fits my MS3...

When part of your life is beyond your control, this car stuff is a nice way to exercise control over the part you can and do understand... in an odd way, it can be therapeutic.
So don't let the boys here give you too hard a time ;->

Also, it's good to hear the 'raging red' Ford F-150 is acting right. You deserve less stress in your life!

Reports were that they were all presold.

Nissan says to change the coolant at 60k, then ever 30k thereafter. Since I flushed the system out with distilled water, I'm going to plan on waiting another 60k before changing it again (if I still have the car then). Same thing on the air filter, it was only lightly dirty after I drove 30k on it.
Well, our garages could grow even more similar if you guys decide on the T&C like my wife did.
We have four kids - my wife and I each have two kids from previous marriages. Given schedules with the ex's, we generally have all four kids in our household every other weekend (for a long weekend). So, it's not every day that we need the 3rd row vehicle, but it is a necessity.
And your garage just became more dissimilar than mine with your latest move, right? If I go and replace our GTI with a 1, you have fair reason to be concerned. :P
breld - you're thinking of ditching the CX-9? I can understand that with 4 growing kids - a minivan is probably a much better choice.
Well, the CX-9 would be the obvious choice to replace with the minivan, since we don't need two 7-passenger vehicles. The thing is, we really like the CX-9 and I like having an SUV here in Colorado, even though I fully recognize FWD and snow tires is more than adequate.
Here's my wife's grand plan she came up with (bless her heart) - 1) "combine" the features of her GTI and 328xi into one car, like a Golf R or 3-series wagon (stick, AWD, hatch), 2) replace the CX-9 with a smaller SUV and 3) buy the minivan. So she'd have her all-purpose, fun and practical vehicle (she'd prefer having one do-it-all car), and I'd have my 530 for daily and the small SUV when necessary. Then the minivan for the family truckster, which given this plan, could be an older, high-mileage one provided its use.
Is it good or bad that she's such an enabler?
While infinitely practical, the thought of a minivan lacks the emotional aspect that is the primary driver in making any car purchase. So I think we'll sit tight for awhile until it becomes more necessary.

Have a Happy New Year everyone and someone buy a car already! I know it won't be me, 2 payments to go and the F-150 is MINE!
Will probably wait until the end of '12 to look at the new '13 Honda CR-V and maybe a replacement for the '01 S500. The years fly by so fast that it will seem like a couple of months and December will be here again!
Mark156
PS. I hope that my CCBA membership won't be in jeopardy!
Can't help you with the car buying part. The Quest just won't die. :shades:
(Mark, got your dupe.)
I PLAN on putting mine in jeopardy! I don't want to sell the F-150, especially since its nearly mine.
Buying 4-wheelers and an older RV doesn't count right?
To all.... I looked at the new 2012 Honda CR-V....nice update.
One thing I like about the 'previous' CR-V is that the console was separated from the dash leaving room at the floor to put packages, etc. I know, I know, it was meant for a ladies purse but it comes in handy for guys too! LOL!
Well, it's been removed from the 2012 CR-V. The console goes all the way to the dash.
One important thing is to find out if the new CR-V can be towed behind a motorhome. There have been rumors that there is a new transmission on the CR-V that will not allow 4 wheel towing. I need to check on that. I noticed that the new transmission is a 5 speed. Honestly, I can't remember what we have now, I think it's a 5 speed too (my Honda is not with me at the moment)....maybe Craig can ring in to let is know.
I saw the the hp when from 168 to 185.

Gives me a bigger excuse to keep it. I truely like the truck, its fun to drive and for the most part is pretty reliable. It and my lead foot get along really well.....um, a little too well at times but hey, it keeps the cops busy.
HUGE difference in power when I get out of the 2003 and drive the 2011 so the 2012 must be even better!
They had sent me an email offering 120% of KBB for trade, so I had them evaluate the ION.
They came back with $5800, which means the "regular" trade value is about $4800. Trade value good through 1/10 or 150 miles.
Decided to test drive a 3 SkyActiv 5-door with the 6-speed auto. Grand Touring trim, with the tech package, MSRP around $25K.
As ky stated in his comments about their G37 ... meh. Salesman suggested that good deals were to be had, but I couldn't see spending the money on it. I suppose I may be jaded after driving the GTI, but the 3 SA was just OK on both surface streets and a short highway jaunt.
Now, with the 6 speed manual, it might be a different story....
