I’m more of a lurker these days. I’ve matured. Past me would have absolutely gone after the EQS deal. Current me knows I would hate it within a week or two and be stuck with it.
I'm internally fighting myself to not try and ditch the Wrangler and pick up a WRX at $5K off:)-
Ah go for it! I think the WRX is one of those you have to get out of your system. Not unlike the Wrangler, smokin’ deals aside.
Isn’t the WRX manual only? Is that going to cause an issue just in case your wife’s car is out of commission?
No, you can get a CVT in the WRX. But, why would you want to?
Today my wife drove the C43 for the first time. I asked her how she liked it and her response was, "How do you keep it under 100 mph?" Like I said, she's a keeper...
In other news, I'm thinking of selling the Clubman and Wrangler and replacing them both with a Wrangler JK- either a Sahara or Rubicon. My wife is fully onboard so we will see what happens. We already intended to sell the Clubman at the end of my term so we are only moving a little faster than originally planned.
Half of the people asking for numbers on 2023 models with 2K miles.. seems like useless and immediately out of date info.
Can you really get an accurate value when most books are using past sales in a supposedly declining market? What was an accurate valuation a month ago would be wildly inaccurate today.

Dealing with vertigo again it seems. Woke up after about an hour of sleep Monday night to the room spinning like it did the previous three other times, so I knew what was going on. Went into the kitchen to take my vertigo medication & told my daughter who came in overnight that I think the vertigo had returned. Tuesday morning got up at 5:30 to get ready for work and the room was spinning and just knew that driving was impossible, so I had to call out. Had volunteered to come in Wednesday but had to call out also as the spinning was still going on. Spent most of Tuesday & Wednesday in bed propped up as I was just so tired as it's hard to sleep. Got up today and still a bit dizzy so not sure what I'll do about tomorrow. If I'm still dizzy like I was, of course I won't go in as it's just not safe for me to be behind the wheel. Will not put myself in that situation as I could hurt others or myself if I'm driving. Just not sure if this is a sign I need to stop working. This will be my fourth bout with vertigo in the last year & besides the meds & physical therapy, not much more we can do to treat it. And I never know when it's going to start or how long it will last. I hate calling out of work but it's the right thing to do as I'm a real safety hazard when I get vertigo. It's not fair to my boss, so not sure what to do here. The kids have told me to just stop already, retire again, and take it easy. But, don't think I'd be happy in the long run as I really do enjoy my job. If I retired for good, I'd be at home most days either watching the television or surfing the internet & not sure my wife would like me around 24/7 as she works from home most of the time. So have a big decision to make about what's really best for me going forward. I'll be turning 69 later this year which certainly is not old. Most of the folks I used to work with don't work at all & just live their lives. Just don't know what to do here.
First thing to consider is safety for both you and others. Then you have to consider your quality of life within your limitations. Decide what you can do that will make you happy and forget about the past.
I do know what you’re talking about enjoying working. I’m having the time of my life in the car gig but I know someday I’ll have to give it up and I’m doing other things that give me enjoyment outside of work.

Market that Jeep up north to get the best money. A rust free Jeep would be like gold up here.

Funny you say that. The reason I'm not chasing the WRX is that I'm working on something that will solve my "Highlander is too small problem." It wouldn't be right to make my wife drive it on a daily basis.

lovely car. I would take that even with a fixed panel roof! I just couldn't handle those rubber band front tires on our terrible roads. Too much stress. At minimum, would have to go back to stock 18" size and taller sidewalls for some piece of mind!

19" wheels are my least favorite part of that example. I'm generally not fond of the sand beige interior, either, but that example at least has some dark trim and navy carpets. (very rare to see carpets a different color than the seats in that model).
If I found someone to swap me for some 18" Porsche wheels, I'd be all over it. (assuming the worst happens).
which is why I would rather have a Boxster. But the Cayman does have some benefits.
for a "fun" car, my use would be driving down some windy country roads on nice days, enjoying the scenery, getting a little (but not too much) frisky in the corners. So having a convertible would really add to that experience. I am not going out on the track or driving it at 9.5/10 on public roads. Cruising to the ice cream stand on a summer evening is much more fun al fresco!
moonroofs are a reasonable compromise when a convertible is not an option.
for tires, I try to keep it to about 4" sidewall minimum (about a 225/45 or so). still skinny-ish and provides fine handling but a fighting chance to not be replacing wheels on a regular basis.
(very rare to see carpets a different color than the seats in that model).
A poster seems to think, since those carpets are not mentioned on the build sheet, that means they have been replaced.
Apparently, unlike most other manufacturers, Porsche offered buyers some choices in that regard. A quick search reveals a number of cars with all sand beige including the carpets, but a number of others with black (or at least very dark) carpets with the rest of the interior in Sand Beige, which I think looks better than a monochromatic beige scheme anyway. Even if the rugs were replaced, it's hardly a big deal.

Me: "Yes. What's that from?"

I ordered new Rear Bearings from a company called SKF. Having them shipped directly to the shop.

So C&B followed up with me again about the Pajero. Wanted to know if I fixed the title yet. Told them originally I didn't want to go through that trouble and I'd think about it but likely would just keep driving it until the miles matched up. haha. ANYWAY, I told them this time that I sold it. That apparently didn't sit well with the rep who is claiming "substantial resources went into putting together your listing." Gee, then maybe you should have just listed it instead of blocking it for a clerical error. Or, if that is such a big sticking point for you, look at that detail before doing any work on the ad? Crazy, I know. Obviously, these interactions have left a very bad taste in my mouth and it is doubtful I will work with them again. Other than the low bidding result, BaT wound up being much easier, friendlier, and faster to work with.

Yeah, I like the dark carpets. Otherwise, I wouldn't consider that interior color.
given there is usually a flurry of last minute bids, odds are you are safe.
There is a non-zero chance that bid might hold up, but it's less than 1%.
———————————————— With 47K miles and 5 owners already you could be the lucky 6th owner to dump it in about 10K miles and 4K invested in repair costs.

If you read the Carfax, some of those "owners" are just car dealers taking title to the car, while on their lot. The market was a lot different, 8-10 years ago.

I would seriously consider writing an email to Doug DeMuro about the experience. Will he read it? Who knows. But he should at least have the opportunity to be aware of the terrible customer experience.
@nyccarguy - you know you have a rare car when the shop requests (or at least doesn't mind if) you source the parts yourself. Car Wizard does that with some of his customers' vehicles.

Who knows how much it would take to remedy the flaws some commenters there noted about the car, like how the emblems on the wheel center caps do not aim at the valve stems as the Porsche gods intended. That could be thousands to fix on a Porsche.
Yeah, I like the dark carpets. Otherwise, I wouldn't consider that interior color.

On the plus side, this owner has had the car for 6 years and 15K miles. And, does his own maintenance. That negates some worries about previous ownership. If it were a problematic car, he'd have dumped it before now.

This is a 2 seat sports car, not a Hyundai. Most people buy one, keep it two years, then move on to the next toy. I agree with @kyfdx that a six year ownership period is a positive, not a negative.
