Hello all, I've been waiting a month or so for a Camry XLE with NAV and I'm being told that there is either a technical issue with the NAV itself or a supplier issue for the NAV. Has anyone been told the same thing? From order time, I have been told that NAV is the problem with getting these things but haven't really heard that from anyone else. Any thoughts?
I'm not aware of any problem. I picked up my XLE V6 w/ NAV last week - build date is May 2006. It was built in Georgetown, KY. The NAV has functioned fine, too; it's identical to the Lexus unit.
I think you have me sold on the Nuvi GPS. Would definitely like to have factory Nav on the Camry, but that model is about $4,000 more that I wanted to spend.
I'm also not aware of any problems. My aunt's Lexus RX 400 h has a really nice nav unit that is way more advanced than a Mercedes, which are not even offering voice activation.
I will pick up my loaded Camry Hybrid on Thursday. I hope all goes well since there is a trade involved.
When we first purchased the 07 Camry the sun was very bright and with sunglasses on I could barely see the instruments. I quickly learned that if you dim your dash lights at night you will need to brighten the dash lights during the day in order to see the instruments if the sun is bright and you are wearing sunshades. I have always driven GM vehicles and this type of "problem" has never occurred. So much for Toyota's great engineering on the dash. P.
That's great! What color did you get? Did you happen to get the XM radio or Sirius on it? If so, how many lines does it display on the NAV screen for satellite radio?
Mookie, congratulations on getting a great car at a great price! You did well my friend. Enjoy DC. It's a great place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there. :shades: Mackabee
Guys we've covered this "ordering" subject ad nauseum (which I'm having a lot of lately) You can not order what is not offered period. There is a reason some features are only available on the XLE and some only on the SE. That's to get you to buy an SE or an XLE. Great cars, take them for what they are and enjoy! Mackabee :shades:
So you are finally taking the plunge heh? I hope you are not disappointed with the pass thru of the folding rear seats on the hybrid. I don't think it's what you expected. Mackabee
I would not try to offer SE feautures on an XLE etc., but would like to pick and choose options that Toyota does list in the brochures and other ordering guides. The problem I have is that the stand-alone options that are listed as being available for an XLE or other models are not really available stand alone.
For instance, the 440 watt stereo is a listed option on LEs, but is not really available. The nav system is listed as being a stand alone option on the XLE four cylinder, but is either not available at all or else is only put on XLEs that are fully loaded. You pretty much have to buy an XLE V6 with every other option to get the nav system even though the ordering guides do not put nav as part of a package nor say "leather is required" etc.. Then they do stupid things like make heated seats and leather as separate options, when that should really be bundled as a package.
Almost everyone except Toyota would like to order by line item but that's not the way it is. They make more money with the option combinations and reduce car combinations significantly.
If you have to move up a model to get an option you want, their profit margin increases again.
They do have option packages and stand alone options, but you can't even order an "option package" by itself. On paper it looks like you have more choice of options with a Camry than an Accord. I find it ironic that you actually have more choice of configurations with the Honda Accord despite the fact that the only stand alone options listed are automatic transmission and navigation. This is because you can get an Accord DX VP LX SE EX or EX-L and that's only the 4 cylinder models.
I got Titanium silver with gray leather. I intend to get Sirius, but drove out of town to get the car, so I'll have my local dealer install it; just haven't had a chance to drop it off for them yet. I'm curious to see the display for satellite radio as well!
Yeah, I was mentally wrestling with that "distinction", too. And, could someone kindly explain the hue difference between "charcoal" and "dark charcoal"? (Ad copywriters actually get paid for non-sequitors? Boy, did I make a stupid career choice...)
IT looks like black to me - but I guess you'd have to put a piece of black leather next to it to determine if it's really black or not. At least black IS black - unlike white, which seems to have an infinite number of variations.
Do you mean at low speeds? I don't have the problem of gear hunting, but I do have really bad hesitation.
Sitting at red light and it turns green then I step on the gas but then have to release gas momentary then step on gas again but car doesn't go for like 2 seconds, which sometimes this is dangerous in the middle of an intersection.
Help Mackabee, from what I understand, both seats do fold down, right? Please expand on your comment. However, I am a bit concerned with the smallish truck. The main sticking point may be the trade.
Regarding getting the configuration you want, I'm finding even very simple choices can be hard to find. I called Fitzmall about an XLE 4 Cyl, in Desert Sand with Option Combination 1 (from Toyota.com). (I'm fine with paying a extra few dollars for floor mats and wheel locks) They say there are only 2 cars so configured currently within their 3 state region - and too difficult to obtain for me. Hence, they suggested "ordering", and estimated a 4-6 week wait. ($500 over invoice is now a fairly standard quote for Camrys from Fitzall)
This simple configuration is straight from the toyota.com 'build your own car' Yet, they even say the most common color Silver is difficult to find in this configuration. I've given up on trying to get factory NAV. Perhaps the higher gas prices are creating high demand for Camrys.
I'm just wondering what other drivers of the 2007 Toyota Camry, 4-cyl LE, Automatic, are getting for gas mileage? I just bought one and after 302 miles, my mileage was a just a little over 19 mpg. Is this typical for a new car? Some say it will improve over time. I do all city driving. Is this the correct forum for gas mileage questions.
12 weeks is a long time in my book. I believe you still have the uncertainly of if the car will actually become available at that time. How do you know you will get exactly the option combination you like blindmantoo?
tinatina, the seats do fold down as in the Le but the hole in the trunk is smaller than on the LE due to the fan and battery pack protruding up to cover most of the hole so bulky items than can fit in the trunk on an Le with the seats folded down will not fit on the Hybrid. Mackabee
tidewater, are you searching for a 4 cyl xle with the VS and mats only? I thought at one point you were looking for one with nav but no leather. I'll search my area and see what I find. Mackabee :shades:
The dealer gets a printout of vehicles they are receiving. It contains the build week and a list of included items. You're right about the uncertainty. It took about four weeks to get it preferenced - a verbal that Toyota had accepted the order, then another two weeks until it appeared on the printout. We were originally quoted 4 - 8 weeks, but they must not run the V6SE line w/ NAV very often. We were able to place the order in mid-March for exactly what we wanted - within the offered option list. Actually, I'm not very patient, so the wait has been tough. We pray that our trade in doesn't get screwed up in the three months. If you know exactly what you want, it's probably worth the hassle given what you're spending.
I cannot access my carspace e-mail from work nor e-mail out of my yahoo account. I will e-mail you from my work e-mail. Mackabee ps sorry I took so long to respond, I was selling a Highlander.
I have a V6 LE and on my first tank I got 400+ miles and averaged 28 MPG (filled yesterday). This is excellent mileage for such a new car especially with 270 HP (70% highway) :-)
Just as a comparison, my 05 XLE I4 gets 29 on the exact same roads (and driver--me). I think the extra fun of the V6 in the 07 is definitely acceptable in terms of gas mileage.
I have a 2007 SE 3.5L V6 and I get around 250 miles to the tank on 91 octane fuel or at least to where it shows empty assuming I only pump 16 gallons each time when the gas tank is actually 18.5. I was woundering if anyone else was having such low gas milage on a V6 with premium fuel or should I be using regular 87 octane? Please advise?
Is your 2007 V6 Camry engine quiet? I still can hear engine noise inside the cabin. It sounds like a quiet version of diesel engine...don't know what you call it when the gear shifts...it kind of jerks...not really smooth transition...what about everyone else?
I use 89 octane (and try to always fill up at the same station to maintain a mixture consistancy). When sitting in traffic (daily commute) I get about 340 miles to a tank (22 mpg) and when I get to drive a long distance on open highway I get over 400 miles (26 mpg). This is on a 2007 SE V6 and I drive with a moderate foot on the accelerator (probably average 75 mph on open interstate).
I haven't done anything yet, TMUSA has recommended that I bring my car back to the dealer if I feel there is anything wrong but at this point I feel that it's the way the car is built. I posted a simular message awhile back and no one responded back with the same problem. Please let me know if you find anything out and I will do the same.
My V6 engine is so quiet, I can't even hear it at idle. I got over 400 miles on my first tank resulting in 28MPG which I am very happy with for 268HP :-)

Thanks for the information..I think I will look into an SE 5 SP Manual. What is the best price people have paid for this car ?
Thanks,

With the Accord Sedan, you have 19 options thru the 7 model configurations.

I purchased the SE 4cyl Auto.
This seem to be the same problem your having?
