I just got delivery of a Q7 less than 60 days ago.For the last 9 days it has been 120 miles away at the dealership in Boise. The sunroof would not close and the battery went dead.I got a call this morning at10am saying it was ready and where would shall we deliver it to. I told them Hailey Airport.
I asked if the problem had been fixed they said no but the car is Ready. They could not find the problem even with a German tec flying in. But the roof started to work ok so it is now Ready. 4 hours later I receive another call from Audi saying they had bad news, they have no provisions in their Roadside assistance to deliver it back to me. I am alone 120 miles away on vacation, 1200 miles from home, how do they expect me to collect it.
Can anyone tell me how to get rid of this car and get a new one?? Please help!!
I have the Consumer Report full reliability report in front of me. They rate reliability along 14 dimensions. It clearly shows that older Audi had somewhat lackluster reliability (especially compared to Japanese cars).
If you look at 2004, the picture is different:
A4 4-cyl. AWD: Top rated for all 14 dimensions
A4 V6: Top rated in 12 dimensions with two dimensions getting the second best score.
CR didn't have enough data to rate A6s, A8s and TTs for 2004. All these cars had very decent ratings for 2003. Before that time, it wasn't as good.
I bought a 2001 A4 Avant Quattro. This is my first German car after owning only Japanese cars. I have had more or less the same type of problems I did with my Toyotas and Hondas. Parts and service are not cheap (nor was it for my Japanese cars).
However, for the first 4 years, service and maintenance was free. The dealership was awesome. Never had a better experience before. I'm thinking of buying the Q7 from exactly the same dealer ship (after some negos). Btw, even today, I still use the same dealer to service my car (even though I have to pay for it now).
And my A4 is so much fun to drive and comfortable (unlike some of the American cars I have to rent on business trip).
In summary, if you have the money, go for it!
:confuse:
I think that was the exact same truck sitting in the showroom last tuesday. Don't know about the suspension but everything else fits. Not sure if it was already sold but...... Since you live near here have you tried to shop at another audi dealer to see if you could shave a few bucks off the price?? Just curious.
Did you buy it from them? If, so pay them and then take it up with Audi. They owe you the reimbursement.
and paid road side assistance and delivered it back to me.
It was a brand new car 2000 miles on the clock, why would I go out of pocket for an Audi problem?
My advice never pay upfront!!~
Audi did the good job with the 3.6 motor. I just wish the mileage was a little better than 16/20.
But I can't see how a RR sport is a better buy than the Q7. It's not that fast, small & quite heavy.

1. Does the 3.6 use premium gasoline?
2. Will the upcoming 2008 diesel be the V10 in the Toureg or will it be a six?
Thanks for the info. I can't find it anywhere!

I think the diesel you'll see in the Q7 will be based on the 3.0 TDI you see in the European market. It'll be much more affordable here in the US market and would make more sense to do that.
I think we'll hear a more difinitive answer from Audi in the next 6 months or so as they tool up for 2008 production.
I do think that the 3.0 TDI would be a better alternative, but it once again screws Audi out of a power advantage over volkswagen. They need to get strait who the marquee badge is.
I think they are pulling back from that if they ever intended that; I think they were just trying to move up-market (which I suppose is where Audi is).
Also, I thought that the V10 was dropped...due to emissions (don’t remember where I read that) niche market any way
How about the 4.0TDI 275hp and 480 lb-ft would do nicely
V12 TDI
0-60 under 5.5 and mileage in the 20ish mpg for average (if I understand the Euro l/100km conversion correctly).
Sound like a wonderful family hauler

"The V12 TDI is reminiscent of the engine featured in the new R10 Le Mans racing car – it catapults the driving performance of the Audi Q7 into the echelons of top-class sports cars. The car sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds, and has an electronically governed top speed of 250 km/h. Maximum torque is available from just 1,750 rpm. The high-tech diesel engine, with the world’s first 2,000 bar Bosch Common Rail system, provides the high-performance Audi SUV with superior power reserves in any situation. The impressive sound of the new Audi is provided by the ultra-modern piezo-injection system. The V12 TDI transmits this power through a new six-speed tiptronic gearbox to the quattro permanent four-wheel drive system."
"Up to 2,000 bar of pressure is kept within the twelve piezo injectors – a further technological breakthrough. Both performance and efficiency are optimised by this high injection pressure, and the running smoothness also remains excellent. Exhaust emissions are also low. The twin-turbo V12 TDI conforms to the Euro 5 emissions class which should come into force in 2010. Fuel consumption is only 11.9 litres per 100 kilometres. With the high-tech twelve-cylinder engine using TDI technology, the diesel pioneers at Audi have opened new horizons in motoring."
Audi gone wild! Audi is the technological wunderkind.
Let me have one of these now.
My other car is a 2006 Jetta diesel. I do like getting +50 mpg!
Thanks.
4.2 Premiums are in very hard to get right now. Audi had a back-log trying to fill these orders because of the tech package with the back-up cameras, which were in short supply.
what about CT.
I'll be in the market the summer of 07 for a new truck and this diesel monster sounds like a winner
I'm not sure what diesels currently pass the emissions regulation in NY or CT; I believe the recent Edmunds article on MB's Bluetech states they they failed in California, Maine, Massachusetts, New York and Vermont; but plan to meet 50 state emissions by 2008.
Not sure about Audi...would assume it's a similar situation
Are there any deals where this is included or discounted?
This would appear to be simply a tool used to demonstrate the concept, rather than a powered mechanism.
Lets see!!!!!!!! Streets of tomorrow are all full of potholes........

After complaining for years that 90-degree V6 engines are inherently out of balance, I now find out that the Q7 uses the 15-degree VW V6 engine which is very close to the configuration of an in-line six and therefore inherently in better balance; however Audi
fails to mention the angle between cylinder banks in the Q7 brochure for the V6. That is selling the product short and, again, making propective customers work too hard to do business with Audi. What is Audi's marketing smoking these days?
