That reminds me, a nice feature for Hyundai to add to the Azera someday is Bluetooth phone capability. If the Prius, and soon the compact Versa, can have that feature, so can Hyundai's flagship.

That would be nice but I'm almost sure that Hyundai will bundle it with their navigation package like many other manufacturers have done recently.

Have been enjoying my Azera for the past 3 weeks. I just took it up to 70mph and found I have a pretty heavy vibration starting at about 65mph. Will take it in this weekend to see if they can check and rebalance the tires.

Just got a "quote" on the Limited from a dealer in Spartanburg, SC....loaded, but they want to "make their year end quotas", so are willing to give it away at $29,550 plus tax, title and other paperwork....if in fact they will offer GPS and other goodies (including XM radio) by mid year, and they then have more available, it will be worth the wait...the "quote" is within $50 of an 06 Ford 500 Limited, really gussied up with spoiler, GPS, gold package and some dealer installed accessories (door scuff gards, etc)...the Azera, while just a bit smaller overall and in the Trunk, is more powerful, quieter and is a better car overall, especially with the warranty difference, but htey are not "dealing" right now...will probably wait

I've had my Azera since 12/05. I have taken it up to 100 mph on the interstate. No vibrations. As for the Consumer guide the difference between a 7 and 8 is very subjective when it comes to cabin quietness. It is very quiet from my perspective. No major disappointments yet.

Now that you've had the car a month, what gas mileage are you getting?
  • tinydog1tinydog1 Member Posts: 83
Took it in to the dealer Saturday and they found my left front tire out of spec so they ordered a new one. The dealer I purchased from has recieved 3 Azera's, mine included and has sold them as soon as they come in but have not recieved anymore for over a week and a half. In MY opinion the car is everything I expected and more. I have also been fighting my dealer because they scratched the car during make ready. They have made 2 attempts to buff out the scratch, which they did, but left really bad swirl marks on a large area from the bottom of the A pillar all the way back to the top part of the C pillar over the doors. They were going to try a third time but told them I was going to take it to Ming and ask them if they could take care of it. I had planned to have the Ming mirror finish process done on it anyway, so I hope the dealer will be willing to split the cost.

I get an average of 21 to 22 mpg combined for city and hwy.
I do probably 60% to 70% city driving. I use either 91 or 93 Octane fuel. I am okay with the mileage. It seems to be in line with most cars in its class.

Hi I bought my Azera Limited 1.5 week ago and I am very thoroughly impressed. For the money, I got so many features and an overall really nice car. I seriously feel like I'm driving the luxury car I could never afford. I love the backlights they look insane, especially at night. The car is very fast and handles well. Not the mention quiet and comfortable. Everyone I meet keeps asking me what kind of car it is and I get compliments about those crazy backlights all the time. I love being so low pro with a nice car no one else drives. Anyways, I just wanted to express my love for the azera on this forum. Happy driving everyone :)

this morning. Did not drive or sit in, just looked closely at the outside. Fit and finish looked very nice. Paint looked right and gaps were tight. A very good looking car w/o yelling "look at me, look at me!". I think in a few years, a lightly used one w/Nav (hopefully it will get nav) will be a good bargain. I'll be waiting.........

There is only one thing that I think the car should have that it doesn't. That is an 8-Way Power Seat on the passenger side. If they truly want to compete with the Toyota Avalon they missed this one component. It seems a lot of company's are moving away from the Full Power Seats on both sides. 4 Way Power is pretty useless it might as well be manual. The companies should care about the comfort of the passenger as well as the driver we are not all built the same like stick men.

I went by local dealer in Sunrise, Florida and checked out the Azera. There were only five on the lot and two were already sold. According to their sales manager they are selling everyone that they get. The all important sales numbers for January will give an indication of whether this new entry can be competitive in the big leagues. Early indications suggest that it will be.

Any ideas on the actual sales price, plus tax and tag fees? Thanks. Interested to see how much of a discount they are giving, if any, to sell them. :)
  • samchinchsamchinch Member Posts: 47
Right now they are selling for MSRP but don't pay over MSRP.

There are some post that say wait until spring when the inventory is greater and get a better deal. Has anyone who is waiting given any thought to the possibility that the opposite can happen. If word of mouth continues to be good and the media keeps writing positive reviews of the car the demand could be such that dealers will not have to discount. It could even get to the point where they are selling over sticker. I guess alot of that depends on how many Hyundai plans on importing and their production capacity. I don't think it will happen but it is possible. My dealer took care of the tire issue by pulling the spare tires out of the four he had on the lot and mounting them to the one I bought and I now have had mine for a little over a week. It is much too early for me to make any definitive statements but my first impressions are that I would like a little firmer ride and tighter handling. As others have said this is not a sport sedan but more of a touring sedan. Have never driven a Lexus but would guess Hyundai went after the Japanese market and not the European. Fit and finish is excellent and have had nothing but positive comments on the car. Been driving a XG350 the last year and half and really like the additional interior space. Being somewhat bigger, 6'2" 230lbs, never was all that comfortable in the XG. Worst aspect so far is the gas mileage, although I didn't expect it to be that good. If I want a car with some space and a responsive engine that is the price I am going to pay. Most question I am getting from onlookers is "what car is that"?
  • finfin Member Posts: 594
To dslinski: How bad, or good, is the gas mileage in the real world? What type of driving do you do.. city... rural.. interstate? Thanks. Good to hear you enjoy the car.

Just purchased my Azera Limited on 1/6/06 and according to the manual the outside mirrors are supposed to move downward when the vehicle is in reverse. Mine does not function called the dealer and they said that this option is only on cars sold in Korea. Does anyone have this function and does it work?
  • 3warners3warners Member Posts: 1
Spoke with Hyundia service manager, was told they will be installing computer software for remote mirror tilt and auto door locks as soon as it arrives from Hyundai. Great ride and very smooth transmission. :):D
  • dsilinskidsilinski Member Posts: 9
fin, I have only filled it up once and I got 11.34mpg. That was from the dealer though and I don't know if they filled it completely, I hope not. The dash computer has never shown anything above 12mpg. The type of driving is the worst for mileage, rush hour traffic to and from work, and other short trips around town. lam still hoping to get better mileage cause I averaged better than that with the XG350 and still with my Santa Fe.
To the person that posted about the auto down mirrors and auto door locks. I had my door locks programmed for auto lock already. The service tech just hooked up a programmer through the OBD port and changed the setting for the door locks. I didn't ask him about the mirrors, I didn't use the auto mirrors much in my XG350. I had to wonder why it doesn't come programmed from the factory with the auto door locks. I think that is something everyone would want.

Please post again after a few more tanks.. probably be more representative. At least you will get what probably is the worst gas mileage anyone could expect. Thanks.

Does anyone own an Azera with black leather interior?
  • dsilinskidsilinski Member Posts: 9
    I do, black on black.
  • engine89engine89 Member Posts: 2
After first fill up, my average mpg was 21.8 close to 22mpg. Based on about half city and half highway driving.
  • engine89engine89 Member Posts: 2
Been driving it for about 2 weeks now and I am very much impressed with the handling and responsiveness of the Azera. Overall very impressed with the drive so far. Hope the reliability stands up in years to come.
Can someone explain what auto door lock and remote mirror tilt feature suppose to do ?
  • grandaddygrandaddy Member Posts: 66
You are dead on about the passenger power seat. It is the first thing my wife looks for in a car. She never drives when I am with her so passenger comfort is very important to her. Car companies should realize this. In most instances I would not buy a car unless my wife was also happy with it. The old saying is true in my case. "If momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy".
  • grandmarquisgrandmarquis Member Posts: 17
Black on black sounds cool. Can you help me understand how much is black? Obviously the seats. Are the dash and steering wheel black? Sides of the doors? Headliner? What is your overall impression of the black interior?
  • ontopontop Member Posts: 279
For that feature to work you most likely don't have the mirror switch pushed to which mirror you want tilted. Not sure if both mirrors tilt simultaneously.
  • dsilinskidsilinski Member Posts: 9
The auto mirrors is a setting that if you want you can have the outside mirrors tilt down as soon as you put the car in reverse.
Auto door locks allow the doors to be locked at a predetermined setting without the drivers input. The "start here first" card that comes with the car states that the doors can be programmed to auto lock when the car is put into gear and the brake pedal is depressed. The service tech that did mine said it can also be programmed for speed select. That is whenever the car gets to the set speed the doors automatically lock. I had it programmed for the car in gear and brake depressed. I should add that the service tech said nothing about being able to change the setting for the auto tilt mirrors.

Got it from korean website. The promotion of the Azera probably starts a few month later. They are waiting for the clearing of XG350, about 4000 XGs is still in stock.

Hyundai is also planing to launch a first luxury sedan next year, project name is BH and it will be RWD.

I have ordered an azera, limited , ultimate at MSRP, plus tax and title. No other extras. South Florida.
Is anyone getting better deals in area?
Any news about the "toys" such as nav, directional markers in side view mirrors etc. that are offered in Korea and Europe, but not here?

While waiting for service on my '06 Sonata I took a peek at the Azera. The one I looked at was blue, (which looks really great on the car) was a limited and stickered for 28k.

To me it seems about the same size of the '06 Sonata but the interior quality, fit & finish was amazing! Just as good as my Lexus. If Hyundai keeps this up there will be no obvious reason to buy a luxury brand over Hyundai!

Although I perfer the slightly firmer suspension of my new Sonata, the Azera is definately going to be a winner!

Not the same size, it's bigger.

A dealer today offered a Limited w/ Ultimate package and dealer tinted windows for 28,300 before taxes and title. Its coming from a dealership a couple hundred miles away and truck delivery is included. Its not as good a discount as I've had on past car purchases, but I'm thinking its as good as I'm likely to find on an Azera at this time. I'm leaning toward accepting it.

Having driven my Azera for only two weeks my consmption rate on gas is only showing 18.9- Seems a long way from the 22-29 on sticker. Anyone else getting this result?
  • floridabob1floridabob1 Member Posts: 1,190
Did your dealer indicate that they we capable of programing the side view mirrors to tilt down using their current computer system, or did they require Hyundai updates?
  • efmuttonefmutton Member Posts: 7
I checked into the Azera Limited with standard options..They quoted me the MSRP also which is $26,835,plus Destination charges $660.00 plus Tax & Title..
I believe the total came to $30,800.00

The Invoice price is $24,151 so the difference between the two is $2,684.00 and they get 1 to 3 % cashbacks from the Manufacturer so I think they can do much better then the MSRP..
  • dsilinskidsilinski Member Posts: 9
I didn't ask the service tech who did my door locks about the tilt mirrors since I didn't really use the feature on my XG. Next time I am at the dealer I will ask them about it.

I bought a white with grey interior and paid $28,300 a week ago in San Luis Obispo Ca. This was the Limited with the ultimate package. Five or six people have inquired as to what kind of car it is. I really like it. Plenty of power, fit and finish excellent and plenty of room front and back, it's a keeper.
  • senatorsenator Member Posts: 8
I've got Steel Grey w/ black leather. Everything from the window sills and dashboard down is black except for the wood trim areas and silver door latches. Above that, up the pillars and the headliner is light grey. The wood trim is a birds-eye maple finish. More of a yellow brown than the reddish finish wood I've seen in a tan interior. I wasn't sure I was going to like the black interior, having ordered the car without seeing it in person, but I'm perfectly happy with it now that its been delivered.

Just drove home a black Limited w/ Premium trim, black leather. Sweet. $26,565 (included $660 destination). $95 docs fee and MA sales tax of course were tacked on. I looked at loaded Camrys, Accord EX-L's, Ford 500 Limited w/AWD, Mercury Montego, VW Passat, even Chrysler 300 Limited. Forget the Camry & 300, the Passat is overpriced for what you get, the Accord was nice but much smaller and not nearly as nicely trimmed, but did drive a bit firmer than the Azera, although I felt the Azera is quieter than all the above. I was able to haggle the Ford 500 down to $27,000, but the Azera just blew it away in terms of ride quality, build quality, performance, interior noise level, mpg, and of course the warranty. The stero system on the Limited KICKS [non-permissible content removed]! The Ford's was pretty sad when you crank it up. I did not opt to extend the bumper to bumper to 10yr/100K.

Just to add more, this evening I drove 42 miles on the interstate on cruise control at 60 mph. The computer display indicated 29.2 avg. mpg. I then turned around and drove back on cruise control at 65 mph, and got 28.6. I reset the reading after I got on the interstate each way, so I wasn't mixing other driving into the test. I'll post my around town readings in a few days. I drive about 90 miles round trip for work, so I'm very pleased with my decision to get the Azera. BTW, using the manual shift mode is really smooth, and is you give it the pedal the Azera will get up and move, and is still really smooth!

Does anyone have an Azera Ltd, Ultimate who's side view mirrors tilt down when the car is put into reverse?
My dealer showed me a bulletin from Hyundai that states this function is NOT available.
Any positive info kindly email zjzpop@aol.com
  • califfamcaliffam Member Posts: 11
The Azura's built for the US are power fold in and out,not tilt, so the salesman told me. I think I would like that better anyway.
  • pwgilbertpwgilbert Member Posts: 16
I drove an Azera limited just last week and while trying to get the drivers mirror adjusted must have hit a button that turned it down and/or in? Scary while underway.
I haven't yet been able to ascertain for sure if the Azera requires Premium or Regular gasoline. My option is the Avalon Limited and I think it requires Premium? Any thoughts will be appreciated.
  • califfamcaliffam Member Posts: 11
The Avalon will run on reg fuel but Toyota says for max HP to run premium. I don't see anywhere that it says to use premium in the Azera.

The photos are extremely helpful. Many thanks for taking the time to make them. Now that I see the photos, I am going to insist on the black interior when I buy.

I have resenty taken deliveret on Azera LTD, Ultima,
Dealer indicates that manual is incorrect and that side view mirrors do not tilt when car is placed in reverse.
Also, memory seats do not operate without key in ignition. If a tall driver follows a shorter driver they can not reset to taller drivers position without reaching into car and putting key in ignition, Seats should be programed to park in most rear postion with steering wheel up when ignition is turner off for easier exit and entry,
Does anyone know if these features can be programed into vehicles computer? Bob F.

I took delivery of my Azera 12/28 and absolutely love it, except for one issue - when I fill up at the pump, gas overflows from the nozel port. It's like the tank has acid reflux disease! Has anyone else experienced this? The dealership couldn't find any visual defects and are now in the process of contacting Hyundai's hot line for answers.

Does the nozzle have automatic shut off?
