I think the side logo is "Catalina." Another wagon was the "Safari." What's the difference other than one's an island and the other a desert?

I think the Camry has to be a '96.. .. assuming they made wagons in the final year..

It's not often that we can stump the crowd here but it looks like this one's a stumper.>>

Here's some clues: It's a 1955 design that was the first passenger car offered by one of the Japanese makers. Internally it was known as the PL-1. :P

And here's another from '55 to keep you going>>

No clue on the Japanese freakshow, but 5464 is a Bristol 403
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,233
The first one is, i think, a Prince Skyline, although I believe that name was from 1956, it was just the Prince at first. Before that cars from this firm were known as Tama.

The maroon beauty is a Bristol 403, which was made 1953-55. Neat numberplate too - Tony Crook was the main dealer for Bristols, indeed he was virually Mr Bristol throughout the 50's/60's and beyond...

It's the first Subaru passenger car a 1955 Subaru

1946 Lincoln Continental - or it could be 47 ?
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,233
Thats brilliant - this was a really obscure car - I've just had to Google your answer to find out anything about it, even my main reference books (Georgano etc) don't mention this model !

1946 Lincoln Continental - or it could be 47?

    I'm afraid it's a '48 :P

To be fair the '40-'47 models were identical. A lot of people know about the other Continental Marks (II thru VII) but this is
the Mark I (they'd didn't call it that) and it's distinguished from all the others by having a 12 cylinder motor, I assume the same one that powered the prewar Lincoln Zephyrs.

At least I got the BMW part right ;) 1962 3200CS. It's funny when I first looked at it I thought it was a CS model, I guess I rushed to research the answer.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
Yep it's a '62 3200 CS and it's a very pivotal car in the history of BMW styling. Carrozzeria Bertone was commissioned to style it and, as most styling buffs know, borrowed heavily from the Chevy Corvair.

Looking at the car now you'll that it looks more like the '65 Corvair redesign than the original 1960 Corvair does.

or late 80's Audi. Euro model, so not sure exactly what it relates to here, but is it a 4000 of some kind?

    It's a 1979 Audi 200 which IIRC would correspond to our 5000S.

A pickup truck. A white one.

See, if I skip the details I won't be so wrong!

But being a brave soul, it is a Chebbie or GM, late 50's I would guess (post-split windshield vintage).

i always kinda liked these for some reason.

    Is it a Chevy Cameo?
  • ubbermotorubbermotor Member Posts: 307
I don't like the angle, but it appears to be a '58-59 Chevy Cameo, or whatever they called the Apache straightbeds before changing to Fleetside in '60.
  • bumpybumpy Member Posts: 4,425
1957 Chevy Cameo. The Cameo was a regular narrow bed with wider fenders. The true wide Fleetside beds came in for '58 and had different fender styling that the Cameo:

Close, the ad says it's a '55 (first year for the Cameo IIRC). My example was lowered and stripped of chrome so it's hard to tell the year.

Hmmm! Either a 1970 or 1971 Ford Thunderbird.
  • gsemikegsemike Member Posts: 2,419
A very awkward Thunderbird from the early 70s. I'd guess 71-2? Horrible car
  • negativenegative Member Posts: 107
    That is quite a proboscis, isn't it? It's a 1970. The T-Bird didn't get a much-needed rhinoplasty until the '72 model.

Here's an ad for the '70, which I found during a Google search. The scary thing is . . . I remember this ad so well! (What's 36 years when you're having fun?)
