Pontiac Catalina and yes the skirts look good.

Yes, it's a 1960 Pontiac Catalina. 1960 was a year of transition for the styling of the big Pontiacs..The split grille front was introduced in 1959 but the '60 was the only succeeding Poncho go to a single grille>

1960 was the last year for the wraparound glass up front, '61-'62 went with a modified wraparound. It was altogether gone for the 1963 MY.

The Ital was a last gasp for Morris, but in some ways it was a better car than the Marina as it sold steadily and they did seem to last better.

My Edsel guess was a bit off beam but I was thinking of the twin rear lights and now I think those would have been oval in shape if it had been an Edsel.

Yup, not many people remember that Ford outsold Chevy in 1957 but now collectors want the Chevies and they cost a lot more.

The illustrated car is apparently an upscale version (two-tones/HT) but has blackwalls, very odd for that era.

Back then NY State plates would indicate which county the car was registered in, the "K" is for Kings County (AKA Brooklyn). I went to college in upstate NY and learned most of the county codes, many weren't as obvious as K for Kings. TS for example was Steuben County.

The diner in my town has one of those parked out front. It’s an icon of the place. It used to be in large vestibule they had before one of their numerous remodels/expansions. I’m sure @stickguy and maybe even @qbrozen knows the place.
that the philly diner and sports bar on the BHP a block down from Toyota dealer?

Dad had a ‘59 Catalina coupe. Black, red interior, fenderskirts, full wheel covers, whitewalls. He loved that car, but the floors rotted out by ‘65 and he traded it for a ‘63 Olds Dynamic 88 Holiday coupe. That red firemist color is one of my favorites during that period.

When I first moved here in '97 there was an elderly couple 2 doors up the street. The man was a retired aircraft mechanic and he would sometimes wander down to chat when I had the Cutlass out in the driveway. At the time he was driving a '78 Monte Carlo with the 305 and a 4-speed stick which was a bit of a hot rod for the era. He told me he had traded in a 1960 Pontiac 2-door hardtop in on it in '78 which was equipped with a 348 (being a Canadian market Cheviac) and a manual transmission as well.

I will stick my neck out and hazard that it is a '54, and from the lack of chrome I will say an 88.

You nailed it Bhill, it's a 1954 Olds 88. 1954 was the first year for most GM lines to get the wraparound front window glass.

I see a Lancia badge, perhaps a low production style of an Aurelia or Flaminia.

Randomly found this while looking for something else, ah the mid 70s:

Mustang looks like '73 with the vertical signal lamps. Javelin must be '73 or '74 with the redesigned tail lights.

I think the dark car going away from us in the middle distance is a Mopar sedan - say Dodge circa 1965 ?

    Yes, I think it's a '66 Polara.

Winner! That pic was tagged as '77 Gran Fury with police package. It looks like the same year as a "civilian" 1977 Plymouth Gran Fury on Wiki. According to them, 1977 was the last year of the C body Gran Fury.

The mystery to me is whatever happened to Mitsubishi after the Chrysler connection?

Btw I had a friend who drove a new '77 Colt 4-speed and it was reliable with good MPG. Not 47 MPG good, but still a good car for cheap when new.

"The Woodill Wildfire was an American sports car built by Dodge and Willys dealer Blanchard Robert "Woody" Woodill from 1952 to 1958 in Downey, California. The Wildfire used a Glasspar fiberglass body and is credited with being the first complete fiberglass car available with approximately 15 produced and another 285 sold as kits. A child's version of the vehicle called the Brushfire was also available."
