3 to the right of the white 60 Ford is a light blue 63 Ford, appears to be a Galaxie.

The fintail was in the LA area then, it would be at home in such a parking lot.

    The Ford is a 55.

And, the Cadillac is a 1956 Coupe De Ville.

Man, the Rouge was pumping out the Mustangs back then.

I wonder what the suits were discussing. I wonder if any of them noticed that the driver’s door on the Continental convertible wasn’t fully closed.

Is that a convertible Continental? Or just a way overdone vinyl roof? If a convertible, maybe it's a case of bad door alignment?
  • tjc78tjc78 Member Posts: 17,057
That’s a convertible, I’m thinking the door isn’t closed all the way.

By the badge on the fender, the car "under" the Continental convertible appears to be a 65 Galaxie 2 door post, seldom-seen these days.

Passaic, NJ, circa 1977. Expands greatly.

I quite like the Mercury 2-door HT behind the gold Continental.

$1.29 for gas, must have been some inflation going on. If that's 1977 (do I see a couple GM intermediates parked at left, facing the camera?), I spy a then-new downsized Chevy sedan, parked at right (facing away), 6th car from right.

That and the period Galaxie 2 door HT are attractive cars. 65-66 seems to be a time when it was hard to go wrong with a new car, big 3 or import both, most offerings were cleanly styled relatively sturdy cars.

Interestingly the Dodge (?) in the foreground has TESLA on its Connecticut plate - presumably a family name or something as its too early to be related to the electric car etc

I remember a trip to FL in my new '77 model car. Prices were higher along the freeway... Averaged about $0.60/gallon.

is the Tesla car a Dodge Magnum? Andre would know! And next block, beside the Chevy van looks like a later Matador.

right side, in front of the downsized Impala, looks like a gen 1 Capri. Vega kamback at the light.

Ooh, '58 Plymouth. Pretty sure it's a top tier Custom Suburban. In any case, it's a V-8.

From the Rusha collection at the Getty Museum, this pic of Sunset Blvd from 1966 looks like a group of cars on their way to a current-day show and shine. Expands some.

That's right, it's a 1958 Plymouth Sport Suburban. IMO '58 was a bad year for styling but the '58 Plymouths were real lookers. It's interesting that both Chrysler and GM used the Suburban name. No way that could happen today, I guess there were fewer lawyers then.

I'll go with 1958 because of that "lip" under the rear bumper.

75 manta right front. Just like the POC one I had.

Nice Camaro z28 (a 76 maybe) following the 72ish javelin. I like them both.

That's a Datsun Z-car with an aftermarket set of louvers on the rear glass. Another popular customizing option are the twin roof-top pop-ups on the Firebird going away from camera

The car in the photo with the brake lights on is a late 70's ( I believe it is a 78) Camaro, but I love the Trans Am pic!

The Corvette C1 looks odd wearing white walls but no hubcaps. It may be a decade older than the 1st gen Mustang parked facing away. The Chevy II and Cutlass near it are from the mid-60s too

I can't tell the MY of the Studebaker or the Falcon wagon on right. LA in the mid 60s and not a VW, MG or Renault in sight?? weird.

What I believe that we have here is an (early?) 50's Sunbeam Alpine. Appropriate color for the name.

Yup, that's a 1952 Sunbeam Alpine. I had a Dinky Toy of it's predecessor the Sunbeam-Talbot 90 which was similar in appearance.

I wonder if the mcmansions of today will look like that in 60 years (without the design and workmanship).
