I learn new things so often on this site. I wasn't too familiar with the Bob Newhart show - I only know of him from a few monologues he did like the Driving Instructor which were often played on the radio - but your comments about the last ever show of Newhart got me intrigued so I looked him up on Wiki and recognised him from various parts he has played in other shows we have seen.
It also explains various oblique references he has made when on other shows presumably going back to that last show - I have now read the plot synopsis of that too.
I just played The Driving Instructor on youtube - his deadpan delivery is great...
We get reruns of Big Bang Theory sometimes - he has a part in that which is the most recent that I can recall..
Yes - your latest from Blighty is one that deserved better luck in my opinion - just unlucky timing when it was launched.
Although the car was known as the Jensen Healey GT for some reason it was marketed here as the Jensen GT - although the roadster was known as the Jensen Healey.
Maybe they didn't keep the rights to the Healey name (much like Austin Healey in 1970 where the last Sprite was sold here as the Austin Sprite for a period because they didn't want to pay royalties to Donald Healey)
Two VW 3's both being Variants beyond the light green one is a white Peugeot 404 Brake / estate - they also sold a base version called the Commerciale and a plusher one called the Familie / Family I think.
White VW is '58-'62, it has larger rear glass but no turn signal on fender top. Black one has smaller oval glass so pre 1958. I think chromed louvers on back lid aftermarket.
I don't think the yellow-green color on the third one was ever sold in USDM. You can see the red roof of a fourth Beetle next to Saab on lower right.
Parked at the corner, a 1964 Oldsmobile. As to the Newhart television show, was not the last minute of the last episode tremendous? I hope the writer(s) of that ending received a bonus.
The Newhart ending was one of the best ever. Bob was interviewed about that episode and said it was his wife's idea to do the dream ending with Suzanne P.

Unusual to see 3 cars that appear to be painted yellow in such close proximity - a '67 Chevy, a Barracuda of similar vintage, and my favorite, a '66 or '67 Fairlane GT. I wonder how the Rambler wagon made out making that turn.
Streetview pics of St. Gregory and Pavilion Sts in Cincinnati show a much less crowded but still hospitality-centric district in modern times.
Same here. I still remember seeing it at a late matinee when it was a new release. Saw it maybe a few times more, then maybe didn't see it for 25 years. Watched it again a few years back, and I'll admit I still thought it was pretty funny.
Parked 60 Ford must have been babied to still be around looking pretty intact in that climate - those cars seemed to age off fast, given they are virtually absent by 1970 or so. I guess that one is a basic Fairlane. I think I see a 67 Ford 2nd to the last car in the same row.
Aside from the very handsome '68 Cutlass parked just ahead of that '67 Ford, look across the street from them. Could that be another '60 Ford lurking just behind a '61 Chevy? What would be the odds?

I stumbled upon this local picture taken around 1973 or thereabouts. The Chickenburger is a local institution here, having been in existence in the same location since 1940. It is a summertime hangout for those in the old-car scene, not surprisingly, as its history has always linked it closely to the automobile.
Here's a later pic of the vintage rooftop sign. I love the old terminology "hamburgs".
The was obviously based on a Mini van, in this case an Austin, but it was fitted with a lifting section in the roof and converted as you see, so it ws then possible to stand up - theoretically. The bed was apparently 6ft 2in which given a whole Mini car was just over 10 feet seems incredible although the Mini van was a foot and a half longer I think.
Same firm also did Hot Dog and Ice Cream vans fitted to Minis as well although those were not convertible.

Speaking of driving instructors, James Avery as the driving instructor in 'License to Drive' is a classic, for people of my age anyway.

I think in modern times, personal use trucks are the equivalent of large BOF cars, and for some, there's probably also a psychological component.

Is that an early '70s Audi, in front of the old Buick?
