I flew in a DC3 from Hyannis to Boston, Ma. A few minutes after takeoff, the pilots discovered that the landing gear could not be raised. We returned to Hyannis. Cause - Just prior to boarding in Hyannis, that DC3 was towed out of the maintenance hangar. Pins were inserted into the landing gear structure so the aircraft's landing gear would not collapse during the tow. Someone forgot to remove the pins prior to the aircraft's being released for the flight.
A pair of pictures from Glens Falls, NY in 1964. Note the perfectly flat and straight rear quarter panels on the featured car. They must have been a challenge in the metal stamping section!
Bobby and Ethel Kennedy campaigning for the US Senate in 1964. I worked for his opponent. Both the lead Oldsmobile and the following Buick Skylark are 1964 MY.
Surprising to see them riding in open cars after JFK's assassination.
I've just been sitting in our back garden and I am beginning to wonder if we still have an airport. Usually we get half the incoming for Heathrow within about three miles of us if they are landing from the east and a steady stream as well from City airport most days but now its only about two or three planes a day over us..
Having said that, with the drop in road traffic too we can hear more birdsong now than we ever could before
Actually I've just looked up London Kentucky and it is the fourth largest city called London in the world - I think the second is the one in Ontario but I'm not sure which is third
It must cause some confusion where two towns have the same name now so many people book flights for themselves rather than through agents.
A couple of years ago in the news here a couple had got a bargain flight from Manchester to Sydney but it was about five stops, and it turned out they were on a flight that ended in Sydney Nova Scotia - via Iceland and Toronto I think

Depends on whether you have a competent travel agent. Years ago I had to go to Daytona Beach FL on business and used a local travel agency here to arrange the flights for me and a co-worker. About a week before departure she called to say she realized she made a mistake and we needed to return the tickets she had sent over, because they were for Dayton, Ohio.

Well... you can't fly to London, KY on a scheduled flight, so no issues there.

Hmmmm. Dayton can be a nice place to visit. Should have kept the tickets.
Nope it's a '52 Ford Crestline w a Flathead Ford. 1952 was the last year for the Flathead, '53 V8s came with the Y-block. IIRC the Crestline was the top-of-the-line.
@ab348 That two tone blue coupe next to the ADO16 is a Ford Consul Capri - a coupe version of the Ford Consul Classic
They were quite popular and are still collectible - certainly better than the Classic saloon which was not blessed with good styling - the Anglia 105 style back window worked on the small car but a four door saloon with fussier front trim was off target although the Classic was also sold as a two door saloon too; - the Consul Capri was much nicer although it became dated thereafter.
My first flight was in an Alitalia DC8 - I didn't get any propeller flights until a KLM Fokker 50 in 2002
The first flight I can remember taking was on a Fairchild Swearingen Metroliner (19-passenger regional aircraft). We fondly referred to them as "flying hotdogs," as they were incredibly small inside, and they felt like they were long, skinny tubes. Very noisy, rather uncomfortable contraptions that fly at around 10,000 feet, so they get all the extra turbulence of that altitude.

As we've moved on from my picture at Heathrow, the black mystery saloon -
was a Standard Vanguard Sportsman. This was a rare variant of the Phase III Vanguard with basically an engine in full TR3 tune and better equipment than the Vanguard. It was introduced in August 56 and was intended to have become the new Triumph Renown hence the triumph- like grille and they only made about 950 - including a few estates (I've never seen one of those) and it got cancelled in 1958. Here is a preserved one
It's less distinctive without the two-tone finish...
Could be, caption doesn't say, just that it's a 5 liter Mustang GT with the '87-93 body style. It's the same color as my '86 GT but those had the same more subdued coachwork as the LX versions.
Another one from the Ruscha collection at the Getty Museum. Sunset Blvd., Beverly Hills, 1966. Nothing too mysterious here, but I can almost hear the music from The Beverly Hillbillies that was used when Miss Jane pulled up in the driveway.
The white sedan is a Ford Taunus - I think a 15M from about 1955/56 although the grille looks a bit odd - it may be some sort of Deluxe model or something.
The 356 lookalike - is it a Chesil Replica ? - I thought they only did roadsters but it is RHD and the road looks like the Dorset Coast (Chesil is in Dorset)

You're right, it is RHD because it is of British manufacture by the Watts Electric Vehicle Corporation. TTAC has the scoop>

I flew a DC-6 or 7 way back in 1963 or 64, my first plane ride.
