Mitsubishi Carisma. European "mid-sized" Mitsubishi, built in the Netherlands alongside the first-gen Volvo S40.
Incredibly dull and ripped by most automotive publications for it. And the S40, with which I believe it shared a basic platform, was not a critical hit either.
This Pontiac is a bit earlier than the usual fare on this forum - the grille means 1935 or 1936, but suicide doors at the front would be 35 only (?). Also the line on the front bumper /fender would be 35 not 36, but I think this is a Deluxe six rather than an eight because otherwise it would have an "eight" on the badge.
Any car that is called a naff name like Charisma generally doesn't have any...They were made in the old DAF factory, that Volvo took over in the 70's. In fairness, though, they were not aimed at enthusiasts, but are just good dependable transport, and have a reputation for reliability so they are quite common, and I've never seen a tatty one. This one is on Russian plates, code 97 indicates Moscow.
"Keeps on tickin" is a 1971-73 Impala Custom coupe, or maybe a Caprice coupe. I can tell by the roofline and the concave rear window area. '71-73 Catalina/LeSabre/Delta and non-Custom Impalas had a different roofline that had more of a triangular quarter window, and Electra/Ninety-Eights were a bit different as well. In 1974 the Impala hardtop coupe had a slightly different roofline that did away with the concave rear window, and I think the Impala did away with hardtops completely for '75.
"Inventive" looks to me like a '75 LeSabre hardtop coupe. Could be a '74 or '76 though, or a '74-76 Delta, Catalina, or '74 Bonneville. That year GM tried to apply that "Colonade" styling from the intermediates to their big cars, and in many cases it did away with true hardtops. But these particular models still had a slim roll-down rear window, just ahead of the big stationary one.
In "Definitely not a love tap" #12 might actually be an '80-87 Cutlass Supreme sedan, or '80-81 Century or '82-84 Regal. Something about the way the rear slopes off makes me think it's one of those models. They had a rear deck that was a bit shorter than an '81-83 Malibu, '81 LeMans, or '82-86 Bonneville. Of course, it could also just be smashed into that shape! It's funny how in that pic, the midsized GM car looks just as big as the full-sized Ford!
Is that little yellow thing in Pic089 a Pacer or a Subaru Brat?
I think "Seen Better Days" is a late 60's Ford, maybe early 70's. And "who needs a trunk" looks like a midsized Ford to me, like a late 60's Fairlane or maybe the "1970.5" Falcon?

To be honest it's so banged up I can't really tell.
It does resemble a Brat's C-pillar, but there isn't enough of the side left to tell if that's it. The proportions are about right. But the BRAT had some black trim behind the window and of course that's long gone on the Derby car.
I dunno, but it is an ugly thing indeed. I hate the C-pillar (or would it be D pillar...the last one behind the rear quarter window), and the double jowl-grille is just laughable. The lower plastic cladding also screams "GM chic" for 1999.
But hey, Honda does have that former Saturn styling dope, so that might explain it. Ugly is ugly no matter if wears a ringed planet or an H. Car design must be a bit of a good old boys club.
That new CRV even has what I call the "1961 DeSoto effect" up front, just like the Aztek, of having an upper and lower subgrille, neither of which relates to each other in the slightest.
I don't think this is a flattering angle or a good style. I really get a heavy-handed Saturn vibe from this thing - plastic, uncomfortable angles. But yeah, that demographic will eat it up no matter how it looks, just as long as they sit a few inches higher and can delude themselves into believing they are tough in it.
Actually.. I think the cross-overs get more popular, as they do away with the 4WD off-road pretensions..
The new CR-V sits lower, has a lower step-in, looks more like a wagon/mini-van than an SUV... A little wider, more comfortable seats... Minivan-like rear door... Got rid of the rear-mounted spare..
I think it will sell like hot-cakes... minivan, crossover drivers don't seem to care a lot about looks... I don't think any CR-V has been particularly attractive... Just a great combination of low-price, high utility, and good winter weather capability..
I don't mind that angle. Tail lights look like a Volvo XC90's, though it needs a spoiler on top. You hardly notice but the lower cladding has these warts on it, that I also don't like.
You're right, of course it will succeed. Funny how the pendulum shifts....SUVs went to minivan targets who somehow found it unacceptable to be seen in a minivan...now "crossovers" (soft-roaders, cute-utes) go to SUV targets who find SUVs unworthy. More vehicular cholesterol to dodge, too. What trend is next?

How do I get rid of the cross hatch lines in the smaller version picture?

The worst part about the CRV is that it will sell like hotcakes...at least in my area.
The D-pillar is OK, the sketches were hideous but it came out OK in production.
I don't like the warts on the bottom of the cladding, either, but at least they don't stand out.
Ask your wife or sister if they like it, Honda is aiming this at moms with toddlers in their 30s.
