Rambler became its own division in 1957, as Hudson and Nash withered away, but the Rambler name was used before that. There was a compact model called the Nash Rambler, which was on a roughly 108" wheelbase, and then the really small model, the Nash Rambler American, which was on an even shorter 100" wheelbase.
I don't think the American sold very well initially, and was dropped after a few years. But then around 1958-60 they brought it back, and it sold fairly well in those recessionary years. The larger 108" wheelbase model was a much stronger seller, though.
Actually the 850 wasn't all that bad. I bought it for $200 in 1980. It was a Spider, so at full throttle (6600 rpm despite the pushrod valvetrain!) I could stir up a modest breeze. Now that the statute of limitations has expired I can tell you that it topped out at an indicated 88mph on State Highway 18 in South Carolina. Tina, probably rightly, never forgave me for that. (Wonder where she is now??)
My dad eventually blew the 850 up, commuting across town at a sensible, legal pace. :-) We sold the remains in 1986, with antifreeze dripping from the tailpipe, for $750.
Andre, thank you for the update on the Nash/Rambler timeline. This brings back memories!!! I do remeber the 1960 and later Rambler American. By the way, in 1981 I had a Mazda 626 coupe,,turned out not to be a very good car :lemon: .
I would have hoped for some neat Englishism here for a name, but all I find in Wiki is "pickup" and "pick-up". They indicate the pickups came with painted, rather than chrome, grilles, so maybe this one's been spruced up a bit...the delux version did come with a 'recirculatory heater'!
The Firebird is definitely not a '69. The '68 has headlights inside the grille, as shown, while the '69 has a smaller grille with the headlights outside.
I was thinking it was one of those Auto Union thingies that looks sort of like a '57 T-bird with the hardtop on. But those had quarter windows in back, rather than the C-pillar beginning right at the back of the door. So, I have no idea!
So I'm going with plain ol' Ferrari 250 GT, ca. 1960, standard Pininfarina body. Whatever it is, it's freaking gorgeous
You're pretty warm now Stephen. It is 250GT with a standard PF body (all of those you listed has standard bodywork by Pininfarina) but this one was branded as a 1960 Ferrari 250 GT Pinin Farina.
The 250GT Pinin Farina was the most conservatively styled Ferrari of the era with no side or hood scoops but in it's own right it was quite handsome>
LONDON (AP) - London's mayor says he is making good on his promise to return London's iconic open-backed Routemaster bus to the British capital.
The traditional Routemaster had an open platform at the back, enabling passengers to get on and off quickly. It was phased out three years ago in favor of boxy-looking double-deckers deemed safer and more accessible.
But the Routemaster was widely loved and Mayor Boris Johnson said Friday that winning open-backed designs for its successor have been chosen.
He says the new buses could be in service by 2011.
Johnson's opponents say there is no point in bringing back buses that were only recently withdrawn for being impractical.
"Nostalgia doesn't get people to work on time," London Assembly member Val Shawcross said.
The Buick convertible might be a '55. I was thinking possibly a '57, but the angle of the A-pillar doesn't look radical enough. So I'm gonna say a 1955 Special?
I think that car in the background might be a '55-56 Buick, rather than a 56 Chevy. It does resemble a Chevy a bit, but I don't think the rear wheel cutout on the Chevy would show that much tire. They had more of a skirted look, as opposed to the full cutouts Buick used in '55-56 and again in '57.
I think the Ford wagon is a '56. I can't tell for sure, but it looks like the tail lights have the larger inner section of a '56 rather than the pencil-thin ones of a '55.

The Rambler American was a pretty to successful compact for Nash's successor, AMC during the '58-'60 period.

Mid-60s actually, it's a 1965 Lania Flaminia 3B/2.8 V6. Yep the best Lancias of that era combined classiness with Italian passion and style.

That AMC Spirit looked a bit lengthy, yet has a different rear than the Concord wagon.
An online search revealed it is a VAM Lerma (Mexican-market AMC) with a body style not sold in the US.
Interesting.

Red, white and blue (oversteering) - '69 Javelin
White with blue stripes - '68 Firebird
And, for extra credit, the photo was shot at Laguna Seca, at the top of the Corkscrew. No other track I know of has that kind of elevation drop in it.
And yes, it's the top of the corkscrew at LS during the Monterey Historics.

Then I was going to say a C2 Vette but for some reason the roofline doesn't match the Vette's.

just a couple of hours before Touring came up with this one for the Maserati 3500GT:
