Alfa Romeo Giulietta Coupe (late 50's), a paragon (IMHO) of restrained style. It's good to see Alfa has found its lost mojo again with the 8C (after messes like the 1990's 155  )
A lot of people, myself included, get confused by Alfa's nomenclature from the 50's and 60s, especially the whole Giulia/Giulietta business. It is common to see mislabeled cars.
In any case the grey car is indeed a 1962 Giulietta Sprint 1600 which would make it one of the later Sprints. The Sprint Veloce was similar but had an aluminum hood and doors.
The beautifully proportioned fastback bodywork by Bertone makes the Sprint one of the most desired GTs of the Golden Age.
I saw (at first heard) one of these this morning in rainy suburban traffic...I couldn't believe it. I bet they aren't the least likely car to develop rust...
heck, i posted a close-up for just the louver over the headlight on this board a couple of months ago and the slicksters here pegged it without a problem.
Its a tough crowd to stump, to be sure.
'11 GMC Sierra 1500; '98 Alfa 156 2.0TS; '08 Maser QP; '67 Coronet R/T; '13 Fiat 500c; '20 S90 T6; '22 MB Sprinter 2500 4x4 diesel; '97 Suzuki R Wagon; '96 Opel Astra; '11 Mini Cooper S
Given the choice, I wouldn't drive ANY Alfa in the rain, especially since the last one sold new in the US left the lot a dozen years ago. Between the possibility for rust and the probability of exotic electrical faults, I'd save the Alfas for a perfect fall day, and commute in generic (disposable) CamCords and CiviCorollas.
I think the SHO had an 8000 rpm tach with a 7000 rpm redline. Dunno about the MT-5 though. I found an old Tempo brochure online from 1985, and it looked like its tach went to 6,000 rpm, but it was hard to tell. I think the gauge went to yellow at 5,000 rpm and red at 5500.
The one posted above looks like it goes higher, though. Maybe it's an 8000 rpm tach with a 6000 rpm redline?
Yup, it's a '91 SHO, the six spoke wheels were only used in that last year of Gen I SHO production. I had an identical (except color) car bought used (CPO-former Ford Fleet car) in '92. Over time I found it to be a great engine in search of a good car.
I'll tell you this- not only would that Yamaha go to 8000 rpm, it loved it and it really hauled doing it. The rest of the car was, as they say, problematic but I managed to get four or five years and over 100K out of it as a long-distance commuter and sales sled.
Quite right, karsick. The interior photo is from a Taurus MT-5, which was the only stickshift Taurus until the SHO. FYI, the first-generation SHO (pre-1992) was manual-only.
The MT-5 engine was a 2.5L variant of the 2.3L HSC engine from the Tempo/Topaz twins. A whopping 90 horsepower, IIRC. Part of the plan was to build them for export to Europe, but that idea was scuttled when they couldn't get one past 98 mph.
I've never seen an SHO interior, but I think it would look a bit more sporting than the MT-5.
The Ford Country Squire wagon is a 1955, the wagon next to it looks to me like an earlier ('49-'51) Ford wagon based on the shape of the rear widows, the sloping tailgate, single tailight and the outside spare, all are charcteristics of the '49-'51 Fords like this 1950 Woodie>
Next to it is a blue and white Buick, probably a '55. The white convertible is a '57 Ford, it could be a T-bird, it's hard to tell. I think the pickup is a Ford.
The Green Jag figures in the plot line of Vertigo but IMCDB does not identify it. It's the big Jag so not a Mk.I, it's either a Mk.VII ('51-'54) or a Mk. VIII, the contemporary big Jag when the movie was made in '58.

EDIT: Never mind, I'm wrong. But just for kicks, here's an MT5 pic:
My eyes can't make out the tach's redline here, but I doubt it's Yamaha SHO high.

I was hoping that the Japanese guy standing next to the MG would throw p[eople off. But this IS a sharp crowd. :surprise:

Movie still from Hitchcock's Vertigo (1958).

The white car next to it is a mystery to me.
Beyond that, the blue car with a white top is a '55 Chevrolet, probably a Two-Ten.
Beyond that is some odd convertible I can't make out, then the green pickup which looks to me like a late '40s Ford F1.
Behind that appears to be a green Jaguar sedan. Given the time frame, I'll guess it's a Mk1.
