It resembles a Morgan, but I think it's some Japanese car wearing a kit to masquerade as a classic British roadster. Pretty tacky if you ask me and they talk about "roadster tops" and gold packages on OLD Cadillacs. If you think that's bad, look at a Maxima masquerading as a classic British saloon.
It must have just been put up. I had a pause before I actually got the post my message button hit. So it could have been ONE minute! Luck of the Irish, it was a car I knew.
That's correct Scott, it's a Mitsuoka Himiko built on a Miata chassis by an outfit notorious for it's outre reinterpretations of British Classics on modern JDM cars.
The Himiko is one of their better looking offerings being (as Boomchek says) better looking than some real Morgans. Most Mitsus have been pretty awful, for example>
The picture isn't labeled by model but the caption sez it's an '82 which would make it a Ferrari 512BBi. (512i BB in some markets). According to Wikipedia Bosch K-Jetronic FI was introduced in 1981 and injected Boxer Berlinettas were produced thru 1984. Michelin TRX tires and wheels were introduced the same year.
I had a ton of Bburagos when I was young, but didn't catch on the double b until I got older when I realized it's not just some graphic capital B thingy on the box, but the actual name. :confuse:
Nevertheless they did/do make nice model toys. My first one was a BMW 635 screw together type, white, bought in 1987 with the water based stick on graphics that BMW used in the 80s (that show the car's interior). I still have it but without the graphics.
The car in front is a Vega ca. '76-'77. The cop car appears to be a Poncho of the same vintage. I don't remember what thelow end big Pontiacs were called then, is it a Parisienne?
That 288GTO is a well proportioned little replica. I remember when I got that, it made the 308 seem very crude. Bburago had a huge jump in quality from products made in the early vs mid-late 80s. I remember I thought my Porsche 959 was a great looking model too. I want my cars back :shades:
The internet movie car database says the Vega is a '74, but I'll be damned if I can tell the '74-77's apart, so yeah, that's right.
The Pontiac is a '76 LeMans, the intermediate A-body, as Fintail said. I'd hate to see what that Vega would've looked like if they hit it with a full-size!
The scene is from "Smokey and the Bandit, Part III", and like everything else under the sun, it's on Youtube. I think it's a pretty cool stunt; it almost looks artistic as the LeMans smears the Vega, starts to angle sideways, and then rolls. To me at least, at first it looks like it only has the momentum to roll once and might land back on its wheels, but then it seems to bounce and roll a second time. Probably the best stunt in that movie!
I gotta admit though, I cringe a bit at the same time as I watch it, because I love these cars! :surprise:

Looks like a match except for the wheels. And the license plate is next in sequence. :shades:

They even make a car based on the Mustang:
With rear end by Caddy
And in sedan form
I think they should send some cars to NA.

Can you fit a llama in the trunk of a Bburago? Barely looks big enough for an aardvark. Probably has a lot of oomph though.

Haha, apparently you are unaware that they used two "B"s to spell Bburago. :P :P

Is it a scene from Smokey and the Bandit or something?
