Thanks everyone, it is hard to tell. My guess was Chevy also.
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
Also the wheels are late 20s early 30s GM.
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
It's a 6 cylinder car as well, as there is no "V" under the tail lights.

    That looks so...unfinished.

As if the top half and bottom half were designed by two different people.

Earlier--I think '64 was the last regular production year, though there were a few leftovers that were sold as '65 models.
  • berriberri Member Posts: 10,165
Interesting vehicle at the time. Remember the rampside pickup version?
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
It's a '63 Chevy Greenbrier Deluxe (interior upgrade)

    ".....1962 Pontiac Laurentian. "

    Canadian???
  • lostwrench1lostwrench1 Member Posts: 1,165
    Yes.

    1962 Pontiac Laurentian

Oh ho, you caught me at my little scam. The only giveaway that's it's Canadian (since you can't see the Chevy under the hood or the shorter wheelbase) would be the barely visible hash marks on the fender.

    Nice job, Lostwrench.

Are the hash marks on the rear fender only on Canadian cars?

I 've never seen a '62 Catalina with them but Laurentians had three hashmarks that can be seen in this photo, as well as the earlier photo.

1960s Bonnevilles and Parisiennes alike had a different rear fender badge like the one seen in this shot of a '63 Bonnie>

I Think I know this one Andy. Good City car. That mattish-black color is pretty electric.

(since you can't see the Chevy under the hood or the shorter wheelbase)

And even that shorter wheelbase isn't always obvious. I've run across these Canadian Pontiacs fairly often at the Carlisle car shows, and the couple inches difference isn't always all that noticeable, unless you see an American Pontiac and a Canadian Pontiac side-by-side. Chevies used a 119" wheelbase from 1959-70, while Pontiac Catalinas used a 122" in 1959-60, 119" in 1961, I think a 120" in 1962-64, 121" in 1965-68, and 122" in 1969-70. Bonnevilles were always longer, usually 124-125" in wheelbase, although they might've shrunk to 123 for '61...can't remember now.

The wing of the black car that you can see further up, on this side of the road, reminds me of a BMC Farina model - possibly a Riley 4/68 or 4/72?
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,454
I was thinking the same thing - and those were sold in the Canadian market during the period.

Looks like a collision between a Rolls Royce Silver Cloud and a 1955 Chrysler! :P
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
not a bad first stab....you are close on the year, and there is, in my dimly lit mind, some recollection that this stylist might have also wrought havoc on a Chrysler or two.

1st-gen Honda Prelude? They sure fixed the styling on the following versions...
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481

That is a Vignale Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith, which was a one of a kind body by Alfredo Vignale Coachworks in Italy on a Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith from 1954.....

    That is really obscure....
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
But not so obscure that you didn't know it !! :P
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
They maded those until 84 or 85 or so IIRC.
  • stephen987stephen987 Member Posts: 1,994
The first-generation Prelude ran '79-82. Second-gen (pictured below) was '83-87, third from 88-91, fourth from '92-96, and fifth (final) '98-01.

    Second-gen (pictured below) was '83-87

That picture is definitely not a gen II Prelude, it's a Corvette C6. :confuse:
