Greenhouse reminds me of a Focus, and not in a good way.

I don't like those little triangular windows in front of the front doors.

I see euro Mondeo in there, the one featured in the James Bond movie.

Maybe that's why it doesn't bother me at all.

    I see this in it:

Probably a few shared designers with the Mondeo

To be fair, even that greenhouse looks fine. Attractive, even.

It's the headlights and fake fender vent that spoil that design.

Mostly, though, it's knowing that Europe got the new Focus and we did not, so that's a retread of an ancient platform.

    I like it.

whre will that one slot in? Below the Regal?

Is the regal even out yet? That I liked from reading about it.

Buick's current lineup is confusing to me. I thought the Lucerne was the top of the line but I see dealers are asking more for the Lacrosse.

I assume the Excelle slots below the Regal since it's based on the Cruze which replaces the Cobalt.

    That's a Packard, probably a late 40s bathtub.

How do I know. That peculiar gearshift with the abrupt right angle at the end. Oh, and the square clutch and brake pedals.

I still miss Wing Windows in today's cars.

I think a 47 was the last of the prewar style, before the bathtubs.

And yeah, wing windows were cool. What was the last new passenger car design to have them, maybe some 80s Ford product?
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
    wing windows were cool

I disagree. They weren't particularly good at channelling air and they spoiled the look of the side glass.

I know my grandparent's 1988 Crown Vic had them, I can't remember if they lasted until the 1992 redesign though.
  • boomchekboomchek Member Posts: 5,516
Seems like the newer CV's lost them.

My buddy's F-150 is like a 1995 and he has wing windows. Just used them last week going back and forth to the marina to mess around on his sailboat. I don't think he's used his AC in years and it gets hot here.

The other thing I miss are the floor vents that go direct to the outside air.

    Omarman and Lostwrench are correct, it's a 1957 Corvette/283f.i..

Sorry Stephen but the fender scoop shown in my first close-up only appeared in '56 &'57.

Looks like a 53 Ford Crestline Sunliner, BUT it's a Meteor! Clues are the 2 short horizontal chrome stripes on the rear side, and the grill. It's got a V8 from Mercury!
  • euphoniumeuphonium Member Posts: 3,425
The trident spears on the quarter panel in front of the rear wheels reappear 13 years later on the 66 Mustang. In those days Ford designers stayed on for years.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
Yep, it's a 1953 Canadian Ford Meteor. As for the "Mercury engine",
IIRC Ford and Merc V8s were identical.

Chevy Veraneio. Brazilian critter that looks like a cross between a '57 Suburban and a '62 Impala.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
I'm not sure I see any '62 Impala in it but it is indeed the Brazilian version of the Suburban, known as the Chevy Veranieo.

    1965 Chrysler Town and Country.
    Is that Gomer's Jeep?
  • lostwrench1lostwrench1 Member Posts: 1,165
Hmmm, that may not be a wagon. (Right side of the picture is cut off by advertising). If it's not a wagon, then I'll go with the 1965 Chrysler New Yorker.
    Sgt. Carter's Jeep?
  • stephen987stephen987 Member Posts: 1,994
I think the red Dodge (1960?) in front of the big Chrysler is Sgt. Carter's car.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
    It's not a wagon, and yes, it's a '65 Chrysler New Yorker.

The still is from Gomer Pyle USMC, I don't know whose Jeep it is. :confuse:

Good eye Stephen987! The car in front of the Chrysler is definitely a
'60 Dodge wagon - looks like a Polara due to the length of the fender
    past the fin.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Chevy something in Brazil. As a kid I must have rode in a dozen of those. Schools used them as shuttles, stuff like that.
