This is a wagon version of the Trabant 50 replacing the Zwickau P70 in about 1959 - the more familiar shaped, later Trabant is the car parked next to it. Can't be that many in Maryland...
an ex-gf had the non si version when new and yes, it was like driving a topless Civic. She liked it though and I liked her so her choice in cars was the least of my concerns.
Hard to believe this was the replacement in the line up for the much loved CRX.

Somewhere on the internet I once saw a picture of a red Honda Civic with its side mirrors removed and replaced by small video cameras. I think that is what was done here for better gas mileage.
I like it. If it has close to the interior room of the new CRV (which I doubt it will) I shall put it on the list. i like small, but only so little my wife will go I think.
More likely, it will be CRV on the small side (or X3 if some unexpected windfall comes in) with maybe the next Sante fe for a "big" car.
In the tight slot between the Sonata and the Genesis sedan, I hardly see the point. Just get a Genesis, it looks better, RWD, 333hp, and the same mpg on the highway.
I'm afraid all this will do is allow Hyundai to increase Genesis prices to create a price slot for the Azera.
I think a lot of people expected Genesis to be a separate brand, but the coupe isn't really nice enough to belong to an upscale brand, and 2 models are not enough.
Next to the T-Bird are a '63 Plymouth and a '61 Rambler. Did anyone get the year of the red Mercury Turnpike Cruiser?? I think it is most likely a '58 (although there were a few '57s with the bug-eye addition for quad headlights).
Rambler's a '61, wrong tail lights for a '60. How do I know? That's Grandma's car! Always something good from the bakery when that car was in our driveway

some people want bigger/more luxurious but don't want the RWD experience (ask TJ about that!). think Avalon here.
so, similar size, maybe price, but covering both ends of the spectrum.

Rear side windows don't wrap around, which is what makes me think Fairlane.
I don't think anyone has ID'ed the two-tone parked next to the Fairlane...'56 Mercury Monterey?

Canada got an updated version starting around 1983 or so:
These have been featured on a couple "Red Green" episodes (one I think where he tapes them up side by side to make a "Hummer")
Edit: Just found a pic...ah, what Ontario does to a car:
